Any chance of a multiplayer X?

Love X3 universe but really want a fighter wing.
I'm sure this has been said for some time by lots of people ... But I would really love to be able to do a co-op game mode on a local Lan with this game so that me and a bunch of my buddies can sit in the same room and log into the same game. If there is a mod that attempts to do this I would love to try it. I really just want to be able to fly in a fighter wing that can really create a strategy by hiding in asteroid fields and the like ..... I know probably on everybodies wish list.
I dont really want an MMORPG this game doesn't need to have MMO status not in the slightest but doing a limited co-op something like Borderlands 2 but in the x3 universe i think would work great with out a lot of change to the game dynamic.

Yes it has. It has also been stated that X-Rebirth will not have on-line or LAN play facilities at release.
As this thread is not that close to being the latest in that linked FAQ listing, I'm afraid it can slide.
