Can we ask for a sticky topic about the problem with all the listed solutions?

Official downloads to work around this problem until it is fixed by Steam.
English:
http://www.egosoft.com/download/x3ap/fi ... fix_EN.zip
German:
http://www.egosoft.com/download/x3ap/fi ... fix_DE.zip
French
http://www.egosoft.com/download/x3ap/fi ... fix_FR.zip
These archives are about 300MB each and contain the appropriate lang.dat file as well as the voice data. Extract the archive of your choice to your steam "x3 terran conflict" folder, allowing it to overwrite existing files.

i'm experiencing this issue aswell. Voices worked at first but now they dont. I downloaded the forementioned and extracted it to the x3tc steamfolder. But it's not working. To my surprise it didnt ask to overwrite anything when i extracted. Im sure i extracted it to the correct location though.
I purchased the warpack btw.
Any other solutions?

It won't overwrite anything because it's putting back files that Steam has accidentally removed. If you have placed the files in the correct places in the addon folder and are still experiencing problems with voice then you may well have some completely unrelated problem, in which case starting a new thread and providing all the information requested in the very first thread in this forum should be your next course of action.

Having the same problem as Socks. The only place to extract the fix to for me was in the Steam folder. There was not an add on folder within the Steam folder until I placed the fix there. There may be some confusion with the placement into the Steam "X3:TC" folder since in my case there is no folder with that name. I registered my Gold Edition game with Steam and they downloaded another X3:TC game in addition to the one I registered and gave me the download in their start screen for 2 X3:TC games and the Albion add on.
All that said, I still have the problem even after extracting the fix into the Steam folder. I do not know who will ultimately fix this issue, but I guess the best thing for me right now is to stop the frustration and find a game I can enjoy...

So i downloaded the fix and I just found out that the first game i started, which i started yesterday, has sound again. This game had voicesounds from the start, but was missing the files today.
The second game, which i started this morning, still has no sound. probably because the data required for voices wasnt available from the start.
I just started a new game after downloading the fix and this game has voicesound.
So apparently the fix only works if the game had the voicedata available at the start of the game. which was the case in the first and third game, but not the second.
try starting a new game if you still dont have voicesounds after aplying the fix.
@scarz: my "x3 terran conflict" folder was in steam/steamapps/common/x3 terran conflict. There should be a addon folder there. (i bought the warpack via steam)

I think i speak for the entire X Universe when I say:
At first I thought the bug was related to a windows update. It worked flawlessly yesterday, and today when I switched on the pc my Vista wanted some updates. I updated, restarted, started X3:AP and the sound was gone...
It would seem that was just a coincidence though.
Anyway, thanks to the people uploading the fixes
Let's hope this gets fixed on Steam as soon as possible... A lot of gamers never visit forums and thereby never find these kind of fixes and workarounds.

The patches don't work for me. :-/
If I start a new game the sound come back, but as soon as I load the game I'm playing it dissepears again.
In X3-TC, I used to think it were some of the mods, since it never happened this early on, until I instaleld some mods, but now it dosn't seem that way anymore, since it's the same thing.
It's really annoying in mission briefings, when I want to stand in the window and smoke instead of sitting watching the screen, or when fighting it's hard to move my vision down to read if someone bail or they taunt me.
If I didn't expect it to break again when I had played another 10 hours again, I would restart.
Edit: I have Sound 2 autosaves ago, from yesterday.
Abit annoying, since then I only had 2 million credits, and I played the stockmarket to make 12 million. Gonna try from there.

If you have sound problems that are not related to the Steam issue then you need to create a new thread and post about it, making sure that you provide the information requested in the very first thread in this forum. If your game is modified in any way then the first thing you should do is try with an unmodified game (this includes using an unmodified X3TC if you have installed X3AP onto it and are having problems in X3AP).

I am having a related problem.
I had the "no voices" issue and came here to check what was up. While reading this thread Steam started updating with a 2xxMb file. I had a few things to do so left the computer for about half an hour. When I returned I found the computer frozen (the freeze shouldn't be related to this issue at all, it is an ongoing problem) so rebooted. Once everything was back up and running I re-started Steam to make sure it had resumed downloading... it hadn't, and it didn't give any indication there was anything to download.
Upon verification of the files I was informed that one file was missing and would need to be replaced. I waited for a few minutes and when nothing started downloading I verified again and was told everything was up-to-date. I also noticed that, according to Steam, TC/AP only takes up 7828Mb of space, even though it shows up as 8.4Gb on my system.
Long story short, still no voices, an apparently un-updated Steam screw-up that refuses to update.
