| 772-5-6 | 17:18 | Chapter 028 – The Blitz V |

While waiting for my bloodthirsty rebels to finish fusion torch practice, I receive a notice from Lady Gaga Li that I am overdue for a status update on the Beryll's expanded Satellite Network. With nothing better to accomplish in the interim, Nobody decides to attend the Beryll's meeting. The seedy bar located in the deepest bowels of the Yaki EQ dock isn't the grandest locale one would think of holding such a gathering, but no one aside from the Yaki at large tends to bother us here. Secrecy is something we could not guarantee at a Pirate Guild Stronghold.

Located deep into Yaki held territory of Senator's Badlands, it also provides us with a certain level of inherent security against prying Argon and Paranid eyes.

The meeting is largely routine; a bunch of finger pointing and threats of death by either concealed squash mine placement near a command ship's reactor or outright disintegration. Normally, these fingers are pointed at the weakest perceived scapegoat. As Pig Faced Joe's atoms already had the unfortunate distinction of being scattered across the universe by a Patrol Zeus' PSGs two Tazura ago, the fingers unvaryingly point to the next unfortunate lackey on the food chain.

Who in this case … happens to be … Nobody.

Sluice-Box blames me for holding up the gray market contracts in Ianamus Zura. Lady Gaga Li blames me for the grisly death of a certain Washi captain. Hatchling blames me for not producing advanced satellites faster than the civilized races blow them out of their core sectors. A few of the newest minor Beryll bosses even blame me for loss of consortium.

Chi 'tSht rolls her eyes at their childish accusations. I simply can not be held accountable for such useless sentiments. Who cares about arbitrary racial standards of slender beauty anyway? I for one, have no time to waste on such things. Overall, I decide that rebutting any of these baseless accusations would be an exercise in futility.

In an unexpected tour de force, Marteen Winters bangs a burnt out data crystal on the scorched meeting table. Its reverberating knocks end the contemptuous augments around him with stunned silence. As his cybernetic right hand crushes the data crystal, his sinister voice rings out across the rapt troupe sitting speechless in the shady back room.

Petty squabbling, he sneers, solves nothing!

If Nobody had to pin the exact moment the Beryll's leadership switches gears, it is at this exact Sezura. Sluice Box lacks any resemblance of a spine. Lady Gaga never shows initiative. Yours truly will be the first to admit certain ardent impulsiveness. Nobody, however, is very content to simply sit back and watch how Mr. Terran Popsicle plays this angle.

With due credit, Winters lays out our strengths and failings in a way that even Pig Faced Joe could have understood. He outlines the key tech areas the Beryll needs to excel in to attract universal markets, and how to edge out potential rivals with the amoral advantage of AGI. He insinuates Terran technology must be assimilated, their military might overcome, and most importantly, their already hobbled economy smashed.

The first steps to infiltrating and sabotaging the Terran infrastructure, he adds, are two pronged: 1) Deploy recon drones to map out Terran territory and key installations, and 2) Deploy a covert network of Ion Mines to cripple Baldric shipping logistics.

New Primary Goal: Secure a Recon Drone Facility
New Primary Goal: Secure an Ion Mine Fab

One guess to who is nominated to procure these rare products of innovative Boron design ...

There is a downside to excelling at certain acts of buccaneering. But Chi 'tSht consigns herself to her task with little more than a soft sigh. Suffice to say, outlining the specifics of this trite task verbatim would be wearisome. And my elite squad of combat hackers are almost as good as me now. The Queendom is best served by simply giving up said stations at this point.

With deft execution, Boron stations fall to a shadow war. First, Biogas and Bofu production. Then Crystal fabrication and Energy production. A sneaky triple play forms the cornerstone of this new Beryll complex. Then, Microchip plants one and two fall into our cunning hands. The only slight snag in the operation comes while securing the Ion Mine facility in Queen's Retribution.

An Atreus Ray with Thresher escort responds to the station's distress calls within a single Mizura, far quicker than I anticipate.

The stations suffers significant shield damage from a PPC onslaught before I can divert attention away from it and load it into the Orca. With that harrowing escape over, I set up the new Beryll High Tech Systems Complex in the Unknown Sector East of Mists of Elysium. Its esthetics are even somewhat pleasing. Afterward I wait until my marines are ready, scheming in the dark recesses of Paranid space.

| 772-5-7 | 01:33 | Chapter 029 – Attack on Eagle One |

It seems so long ago when Ban Danna ordered the Argon Navy to hunt Nobody down. It wasn't like any of my Smart Frames purloined any classified information from M148's data banks outright, but I surmise Argon Intelligence is rather touchy on such security concerns. Either way, once Ban Danna ordered my slender visage plastered across every known info-terminal across the known universe, it was only a matter of time before someone would become interested in the offered reward. Knowing Lady Gaga Li, she was the one to tip off the director of Argon Intelligence personally.

Her and I have sort of a chummy rivalry going on, if one couldn't already guess.

And while being hunted by an entire alien armada did prove fine sport, sitting in that mag-locked cell, rotting in the bowels of the Argon Military Outpost in Elena's Fortune for several Mazura was most decidedly not. And while I still question the uncanny and fortuitous circumstances concerning my escape, what matters now is that Nobody has acquired the means to turn the incarcerate tables on Ban Danna himself.

After final preparations are complete, I take the command chair of my Cobra, grinning with a gilded sense of megalomania. And while several VI's set many of this Missile Frigate's systems on automation, my burgeoning fleets will need skilled crew to man them soon. The sight of my frigate leaving from my very own EQ dock, the sun of my very own sector glaring off my very own HQ, well, it almost brings this dark heart to crocodile tears. Have I earned any of it through hard work and honesty? Absolutely not. Have I earned them through dirty tricks, shady deals, and dubious hacks? You know it.

Final Stop. Argon Prime. All Marines: Prepare your weapons and begin Boarding Pod loading sequence.

I order the VI overseeing Tactical to target Argon One with two barrages of Hammer Torpedoes. Thirty Sezura later, Argon One staggers from the brutal impacts, shields buckling to 36%. Argon Prime's pitiful sector defense flips their IFF, but its already too late. I wait until Agron One gives chase, as their frontal batteries tend to aim for me and not my missiles. Another barrage of hammers and a few carefully timed flails lowers the shields to 1%. Boarding pods, away!

All four pods slam into the bow, drilling into its polarized hull; Nothing that my well trained mechanics should have issues with. I order flail after flail, keeping the shields between 2-4%. And with the Cobra's superior speed, it keeps those IBL's well out of range. The FLAK cannons in the Cobra's rear turrets track Argon One's fighter escort wing as it launches in last ditch defense.

And then, Fiery, the Angels Fell.

A blue ripple explodes from the polarized hull. The fading bubble of the repulsion field carries all twenty of my marines flailing back into vacuous space. Within moments, two heavy corvettes jump through the East and North gates at the same time, cutting off my escape.

ITS A TRAP!

I swing the frigate around, making a beeline for our marines. Argon One's commanding officer hails, ordering me to close missile tubes, shut down my engines, and surrender to the Argon Authorities. When that window of grace expires, the Commander forgoes warning shots across my bow and instead sends them into the bridge. My shields drop to 26% before I marshal our free floating marines and engage the Cobra's jump drive.

Nobody spends the next thirty Mizura jumping randomly to different pirate sectors, trying to lose any tails. Still, with how well laid Ban Danna's trap was, I can help but think there is a mole somewhere buried into the Beryll's small organization.

My suspicions ring true when Lady Gaga Li sends me an encrypted communique, calling me back to the Yaki EQ dock. It seems that Ban Danna wants to negotiate an alliance with the Beryll, as they've sent an emissary already to Senator's Badlands. It has something to do with this Technology Embargo Winters keeps harping on. The only issue was that Argon Intelligence didn't know how find him.

Guess who led Ban Danna straight to him.

| 772-5-7 | 11:53 | Chapter 030 – The Devil's Advocate |

My name is now Chi 'tSht, and I am a duped Argon pasty. And for an arrogant genius like myself, it is a bitter pill to swallow. Had I been a willing bridle, I'm sure my arranged warrior would have opted for ritual suicide rather than bear this intolerable shame. I can't help but admit how despondent I feel, a fugue that no amount of preparation has prepared me for. All the Missile Frigates, Private Sectors, and HQs in the universe have not tempered this abrupt fall from my haughty throne.

And yet Winters does not order my execution at the joint Yaki / Beryll / Argon meeting.

It seems my talents may be needed in the foreseeable future. The Argon wish to ally with Winters, pledging to help Winters with his revenge against Terra, but only if he offers to share his knowledge on advanced Terraformer technology. It will require the backing of the Paranid as well, as Winters needs to integrate current technological advances into those direct mechanotronic feedback system concepts.

It sounds like Winter's is going to tap that unseen Beryll High Roller in order to get the Paranid involved with this. Nobody wonders if this unseen shadow is somehow involved in that Gate Hub Research as well.

So, my illicit aptitudes in programming may assist him in rebuilding a new Terraformer fleet. It still remains to be seen. Until then the Argon requested I forgo attacking any of their holdings, and refrain from continued acts of piracy against their allies, the Queendom. That also, remains to be seen. Perhaps if they open up their shipyards, I may consider it.

Winters orders Hatchling, who I find out was the Argon mole in the Beryll all along, to Heretic's End to dispatch Recon Drones throughout Terran Core Space. It could take up to an entire Wozura before we start receiving telemetry back.

Until then, I am left with idle hands.

During this time I am not entirely inert. I reallocate the unused Boron EQ and TD in Getsu Fune and deploy them in the US east of Mists of Elysium, claiming ownership of it. The capture also gives up digital plate frameworks for both Argon and Boron police licenses. Because of recent Yaki resource expansions, new ship designs are rolling out of their shipyard. I might partake of them if one catches my eye. Nobody expands on her blueprint database, adding a lost Ares and Hades to the expanding list.

Still, the festering whispers of retaliation pecking at my mind are unsated. Idle hands, as the Terrans say, make for the Devil's Work.

As noted, it will take a Wozura (An entire In Game Week) for those Recon Drones to map Terran core sectors. Then the real surveillance begins.

Open ended suggestions for what Nobody could do to pass the time are greatly appreciated.

Oh, should the Argon open up their shipyards to the Beryll?

Oh, do calls by stupid In Laws count as acts of GOD? Because a Q just smeared me while my brain dead sister in law kept trying to call me.

Me: 'Cant talk right now, under attack ... seriously '

Her: 'But my dog blah blah'

Me: 'No serious ... I gotta go!' *Hangs up*

(Five Seconds Later)

*Ring Ring*

Me: 'CANT TALK!' *BOOM*

Her: 'No, you gotta listen, my dog is really cool. Shes so small and cute .... blah blah ...

I believe this in a act of dog. A backwards god. Too good of a story to ruin for a distracted death. Next time, use the pause key.

I vote act of dog as well, please do continue.

Or else pause the action and prep it with a storyline element that makes it a bit more epic then "uh, oops" -- this deserves a better ending that.

| 772-5-7 | 17:43 | Chapter 031 – The Twin Panthers |

With a considerable amount of time to dispense, Nobody seeks something to fill the long stretch of idleness. Playing around with the equivalent of ship dress up is marginally interesting. But with the breakdown for the corvette hybrid Hyperion sent to Lady Gaga Li, I begin to scour the Beryll's sat network for any other unusual specimens that might garner repute or a considerable donation. While my vehement retribution against the Human offshoots may be thwarted, deftly I may add, Nobody still has that pyre to set.

An OTAS super freighter bears little resemblance to its dwarf sibling, but it still combines the best shielding, speed, and cargo capacity of any TS known in the Community of Planets. The difficulty of snatching one up is almost yawn inducing. Chi 'tSht seeks larger, more toothy prey.

And what more fitting quarry is there than the folly of Family Rhy itself?

Though this particular frigate sports more advanced intrusion countermeasures, my combat hackers have learned from the very best. Nobody is more concerned about its two corvette escorts than anything else at this stage of the planning. Getting the attention of the frigate also seems to be a challenge. The thickness of the male captain's cranium is astounding, proving more resilient than the frigate's shielding.

Only after expending half of my hammer torpedo's does the brute get the idea. The frigate swings around and … stops. Fighters launch. Fighters dock. The Panther charges 2km … then stops. Fighters launch … and dock. Chi 'tSht sits in the Cobra's command chair, speechless. Very well, savor these boarding pods boring up your nose. Nobody stands her ground, watching as the stricken frigate charges. My marines hack the core just as the Panther closes to IBL range.

A quick parley with the two escorts, and I send the Panther to my HQ for a quick refit, repair, and superficial paint job.

But what is this? Another Panther jumps into sensor range of the sat network with only a single Viper for escort. And this one is even closer to my HQ. How unusually convenient. I get to keep one and break down the other. Stupendous. First, the obligatory buccaneer act itself. All seems fine until a Kha'ak corvette comes out of nowhere and makes a beeline for my Cobra. And with twenty elite marines still fighting their way through deck three, this could make things complicated.

Launch ALL remaining ordnance. ALPHA STRIKE!

I watch through an external view holographic projection as the remainder of my flails overwhelm the extending fingers of Kyon death, paving the way for my ten hammers to blow the menace off my grav. Once Chi 'tSht is satisfied with the bug stomp, she turns back to the successful boarding operation and its prize. Chance seems to have a bit of humor about it, as do the Yaki.

| 772-5-7 | 23:35 | Chapter 032 – Blown to Bits |

Well, almost a single Tazura out of that Wozura down. Lets see. Silicon mining operations … steady. Panther breakdown and reverse engineering proceeding according to schedule. Hmmm. I suppose I could solicite the Yaki for any odd jobs they might need.

Station subcontracting? Why not.

But where to obtain a large Soyery plant? Chi 'tSht happens to know of one right on the edges of lawless Paranid space. What is this, you need Chelt meat as well? I'm sure she could also scrounge up one as well. And though the Orca is quite capable on such large scale construction needs, I can't help but be envious of this specimen of Yaki engineering. While drumming my six fingers in the arm rest of the Dragon's command chair, wondering what to do next, my VI chirps out a gut sinking and all too familiar warning: One of your ships is under attack – Weavers … Tempest.

Not again …

This time, not one but two Xenon corvettes are running amok among my fleet of mobile miners. Without hesitation Nobody orders the en mass jump evacuation. How they are getting past Yaki patrols is quite puzzling.

Chi 'tSht dispenses with one easily enough by luring it past the Yaki Shuri patrolling in sector. The other seems oddly aware of this little trick, and jumps out. Navigation, track that jump signature. All crew, prepare for emergency jump. We're going to get to the bottom of this if it kills you …

The sudden blare of the IFF as the jump flash dissipates is not all that surprising. The fact that the Xenon P is no where to be found, is. Its larger cousin, the Q loitering about the East gate in Family Zyarth swings around, spitting ion shards at my corvette. Shields down to 85% Evasive maneuvers, lead it toward the North gate. As the Dragon's tail bucks and weaves through the trailing IBL fire attempting to vape me, Chi 'tSht gets an unexpected hail from Lady Gaga Li.

Lady, this isn't a good time to talk about those Hyp schematics … wait … what? Do I want to adopt a Wenendra?

Look, I don't have time for this! Comm, clear the screen. Call in the Viper. Nav. Jump back to the East gate and inform me when the Bomber is in position. What? What do you mean Lady Gaga Li is hailing us again. I don't care. It's urgent? Fine fine. Onscreen.

NO I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE PLIGHT OF ORPAHNED WENEDRA ON WENEDRA PRIME!!!

Tactical, range to Q? Less than 9 km? Order the viper to send a barrage of Tomahawks against the Xenon frigate. Lady, those Wen-zura-Whose-Whats can suck vacu …

][ Inept Captain Loses Ship, Family Rhy sends Patrol to Shoot Survivors in Glorious Display of Charity ][

T'ker Hisho – Ronkar Insider

Notorious Outlaw Weapons Dealer Chi 'tSht exploded own ship early this Tazura. Details sketchy, but witnesses on trade dock blame poorly ordered barrage of Tomawaks intercept Xenon Q. Dragon's rear turret engaged torpedos en route. Unclear if self defense proximity fire or misread IFF. Progenitor General of Family Rhy dispatched Raptor to Family Zyarth. All escape pods shot to spare Chi 'tSht further shame.

Glory to Rhonkar!

 Epic phail. And I wanted to see epic fleets of re-engineered remote controlled Terraformer/Xenon ships taking over Sol... damn. :P

Anyway, what a way to go. Serious bad luck and bad planning (? was it bad planning? sounds like it was. :P ) there. And bad timing for a call to adopt a member of an intelligent species, which live on a planet which shouldn't even be public information. Hell, it's more classified than classified. It'd be more classified than that if it wasn't for the Teladi.

Can't ... *ghk* ... stop ...*ghasp* ... laughing....

Isn't that typical? You're in the middle of something, and your mom, sister (in law), father, (former) best friend or whatever wants your attention at the worst possible moment, won't take no for an answer and can not for the love of their lives understand why you're so upset :p
Yep, that's how I learned to turn off the sound on that friggin' phone when I'm playing...

I'd sign it up as an act of God (not GoD) and keep playing, cause this is waaaaay to good to end like that.
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am :D

It takes a while to dispatch a carrier to the other end of the universe.

In all honesty Im not sure what happened. The RL circumstances behind the game over screen had me puzzled too. It could have been the Q for all I know. I'm assuming that the bomber fired right up my bastu.

The same thing nearly happened in my last DiD.

Either way, I just want to be honest with my readers. And while I have the day off, Im going to be without SETA for quite some time ...
