Hi,

Anyone else get prompted to 'Please enter the serial number:' when trying to run the game after patching? The title of the window that pops up is 'X3TC - @ctiv'.

It presents me with 5 cells, each expecting 5 characters...weird! Maybe my patching went a little wrong?

Cheers,

Scoob.

Yes, it sounds like a patching problem. Try reinstalling from scratch and repatching.

Thanks for the response.

Will try re-installing & patching using the FULL patch this time.

EDIT: removed tagesclient.dat as per other post, appear to have sorted things :)

Cheers,

Scoob.

A small question, the answer to which I haven't been able to find elsewhere: will this patch screw up scripts for 2.0a? There don't seem to be game-revolutionizing modifications, so I'm thinking they should be compatible, but I'm asking anyway... better safe than sorry :)

As always there can be no guarantees regarding the behaviour of third party scripts after a patch, but there is no particular reason why this patch should mess anything up.

can steam users install the patch manually? Because my steam just times out trying to download the update (i can download all my other games just fine...). This means I cant play, since steam locked the game once it discovered there was an update (even after I disabled the update :(). I'd try reinstalling but im pretty sure im at my activation limit already...

No, I wouldn't advise Steam users to install the patch manually. Perhaps you could contact Steam support to solve your update problem. If you do decide to reinstall to try to solve your problem then there is a sticky thread in the Tech Support forum which explains how to get your activation limit extended, should that prove necessary.

reinstall it is then, since i know it will take steam support more than the 3 hours it will take to try a redownload/reinstall.

apparently the activation limits also reset so i'll probably be good :)

My shield complex in Argon Prime doesn't kill my framerate as much anymore.

Thanks Egosoft!

Can we know the name of the new ship, some data or anything else? I'm trying to find it in the model viewer 'cos I'm dying to see it, but there's so darn many that I'm getting confused :headbang:

Why not actually play the game and find it that way rather than spoiling the surprise for yourself? On a related note if you really want to know the answer then use the spoiler forum so you don't spoil the surprise for others!

Awwwww man, I just delivered my last load of crystals last night before going to bed. Was just loading the game up to work on the next phase, and saw that it was updating through steam, so checked here to see what was new.... :o

As always, thanks for the update.

I just wanted to say congratulations and a very well done to the engineers at Egosoft as TC on my antique of a PC now runs so, so much better after 2.1 . In fact it's almost like X3:R performance even around those massive stations. :) :) :) I was almost at the point of resigning myself to spending circa £1000 for a new PC just run TC and now it's not really necessary, if I could I'd buy you all a beer I would.

I do get a "niggle" at start up but hey that's only 5 seconds of annoyance against 3+ hours of wonderous playing....Is a fresh re-install recommended?

Cheers,

Moonrat

PS: Will there be a new 2.1 demo so as to compare the performance improvement? Might also be good to show new folk interested in playing the game that'd it run just fine on their (old) rig.

Does anyone know which .cat and .dat file number this update takes the vanilla game up to?
Can this be included in the changelog in future, please?
I may be missing something, but I never know where to find this info.

Pirates flying in (capturable) Khaak or Xenon Ships.
