The lottery can and has been won, it's just the chance of doing so is pretty slim for the reason mentioned by Darshu, ruins a lot of the fun of the game.Loqutus wrote:Really?? With the docking computer you can just hit D when you under 5km from the station and have it targeted and you will just appear inside. Speeds up the game a bit by skipping that last 5km and helps you avoid the rare instances of collisions with npcs docking at the same time.emiltod wrote:I still havent bought a docking computer - what does it do???
Shift D (or was it ctrl) docks my ships without any computer or does the docking computer dock capital ships or something?

Bayamons & Musical Chairs
Since this appears to be one place to find the answer to everything in the game, I'll ask a question I haven't seen asked yet.
When capturing Bayamons, has anyone managed to capture one with its guns and equipment intact? Since the game alternates between letting them be destroyed and captured (sometimes the former after long battles) I was just wondering if there are any plans to allow that to happen if it doesn't already.
Also, I don't know about anyone else, but I'd like to see a few improvements like:
1)The "boarding computer" sold by the Goners upgraded so that you could use it to bounce a npc pilot out of his ship after his shields and armor is down. (musical chairs/ST Transporter)
2) The ability to capture ejected pilots in space suits and sell them on the Split/Paranid Markets as slaves.
3) An explanation on how a pilot in a space suit can cause 11%+ damage to an M4 ship, but a Mandalay firing all guns at an M4 doesn't even cause the shields to drop noticeably.
4) An optional setting that says when the targeted ship loses X-amount of shields and or armor, they lose equipment at random, or their shields don't regenerate as quickly, just like players.
5) Also, what about a safety switch option on the guns so that you don't fire on a ship once it switches sides or is pilotless and not Khaak.

Slaves
You already can sell them, but you can sell them only at pirate stations. I've sold 11 and counting. They're worth only about 1.4k per.CORPORATEAN wrote:2) The ability to capture ejected pilots in space suits and sell them on the Split/Paranid Markets as slaves.
Legitimate governments, like those of the Split and Paranid, would never condone slavery, however, they might condone murder. Once I had to dump some because the fuzz were on to me. The cops pulled up behind me and DESTORYED the ejected slaves. Sheesh, talk about throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

BTW, over the weekend I found a HUGE pirate base in one of the southern sectors where you could even dock a corvette. I can't remember the name of the sector, but the base was a little outside the main view. Feh, not much of a spoiler

Re: Bayamons & Musical Chairs
Perhaps, because the space suit has more mass than whatever the Mandalay is shooting... some sorta plasma or EM-energy. Remember, mass driver's bullets go right through the shields.CORPORATEAN wrote:3) An explanation on how a pilot in a space suit can cause 11%+ damage to an M4 ship, but a Mandalay firing all guns at an M4 doesn't even cause the shields to drop noticeably.
Man, have I got my third eye wide open today or what?

Thast may be another future fix/add-on needed for the X2 game, as in at least one of the system reports on a Split system, I recall seeing the phrase "(use of) forced labor". I know that the devs may mean this to be the subjugated races of captured systems during the wars/squabbles, but then these two races weren't exactly building themselves up over the years to be broad-minded in their thinking.
As for the space suit, I still think that something like a futuristic MMU unit would cause less damage to a bayamon with 10k in shields than a low level mandalay firing on the same bayamon. As soon as I saw the armor reading though (knowing that the bayamon he was in never got much a shot off on me), I learned differently.

1. make sure those pesky mines are destroyed
on either side of the broken gate (use any missiles you've got) - don't worry if there are some mines left
2. eject from your ship and target the naycell thingy on each side and keep travelling till the cutscene kicks in. (you'll have to travel to both ends of the gate)[/spoiler]

I wouldn't mind if you would put it up on the first page too.

Since lots of new players found it useful, and it's now dropped to page 8, I guess I'll add mine to the pile.

Get rid of the mines ......
There is an easy way to get rid of the mines.
SPOILER !!!!!
Head towards the next Khaak ship and fire a few shots just to attrack their attentions. They will follow you but since they are slower you are able to fly a nice loop around the gate with the mine field. Stop some times and check whether the Gate is between you and the Khaak ship. That's it ! The silly Khaak will just go straight after you and been blown in bits by the mines.
Usually this does not destroy all mines. So you have to repeat the strat probably two or three times. If there are no Khaak ships in the sector then a Pirate will do, too.
Cheers Euclid

A vote for a link to this forum.. it's running rampant right now, but lots of good information for building stations in general, though this one is specialized for SPP's.

I've seen this asked a few times, so:
When piloting a TL/M2/M1, you WILL collide with transporters if you just merrily plow straight through a system.
To avoid this, simply travel above or below the plane of the system. Since dropping out of seta seems to be determined by how fast the ship maneuvers rather than how hard you yank the stick, you can easily drive on seta to avoid the tedium of waiting for your ship to maneuver.
Also, with a TL, ALWAYS have a docking computer. That way, tou can approach the dock from out of plane, at full speed, on seta and just hit "D" when inside 5 km. No maneuvewring to dock!

Why do you need a docking computer when you have an autopilot that will do the same thing for you?? (target plant with "t", then press "u" and "j" to speed it up a bitAlso, with a TL, ALWAYS have a docking computer.
