I still get all readtext errors with the deploy satellite command. Looking at the files I see no T file, and the T file included with the auto explore command doesn't have anything for the deploy satellites.

I also have one request for this script. Allow configurable Satellite drops. aka I don't just want 1 sat in the center of every sector, or just one somewhere else. All sectors are different. I'd like the option to have sats dropped at all the gates, and sats to cover all of the stations in a sector.

I know I can already use mars for this, but it would be 10x easier at the very least if sats could be dropped to cover all the gates and most of the sector.
Unless the script does this already and I just don't realize it yet. then I can remove this post :)

:arrow: Forgot to add the t file :oops:, should stop ReadText problems. Thanks to Tasloth for pointing that out.

I do keep thinking about this. There was a script I used in X3R which does something similar. It's quite a bit of extra work though, got a couple other plugins on the go right now, but I will come back to this.

Having some host trouble. Recently moved server and it seems to have messed things up slightly. Hopefully it's just temporary, but I'll look into it.

Extract the 7100-L044.xml from the package using the Package Manager, edit that however you want then rename to 7100-LXXX (whatever the international dialing code is).

EDIT: the script to deploy sat works but my ship is enter in a sector wich is in the blacklist. It's not normal. the ship was equiped with the system to jump

Is there any way to modify the default height of the placed satellites? I notice the (0,0,0) as one of the options, but that just brings me to a menu to pick a sector then station. So I'm guessing that's more of an option for telling the ship to put a satellite in one specific location.

Once you get the sector view, you should be able to simply hover over an object in-sector to get the crosshairs up, then move the numpad keys to position the crosshair where you want it. Toggle the axis to set the last coordinate (height). Then hit enter.

Or do what I did - place one yourself manually, then you can command the ship doing the work to use that set of coordinates for the rest.

Im having issues with the deploy satellite network script.


If I enable it via plugin manager, and load the game, it works. But, when I exit and restart the game the second time, it causes the "jumpdrive" "best buy" and "best sell" text from the menus to disappear, CAG to break, and "unknown command" for ships who are using auto-explore after they finish scanning a sector.

I must be having a script conflict, but im using fairly popular scripts:
CAG, CLS, EMP, FCC, universal best buys, advanced jump drive, hotkey mgr, ware mgr, Lv libraries, Chem String functions, AP libraries.

Any ideas?

Edit: I disabled EMP And advanced jump drive - that seemed to fix the text / CAG problems. I'm still getting unknown command from the target ship when it is done mapping if it does not have a scanner. It does seem to continue exploring after it fails to scan all the roids.

Glad you sorted the main problems.

Yes, the unknown command issue I am aware of. I've been avoiding putting a fix up, since I've nearly completed a major update (just need to test properly).

In the next version there will be an option to 'intelligently' deploy satellites. That is, depending on the sector size you will get either (a) a single satellite in the center; (b) 8 regularly spaced satellites in a grid, covering the sector; or (c) 8 satellites, plus satellites covering the gates.

I got a bunch of other updates to other scripts of mine as well. Every day I keep trying to find time to test/post these updates, but RL just won't give me a break.

being that there is no scan asteroids in universe, think you might (BIG SMILE!) consider adding in a scan asteroids in entire universe command where it uses the newly built-in X3TC scan asteroid command (but isn't limited to a sector) ???


just an idea/wish/desire/recommendation/etc

Glad to see you are still working on this.

Universe explorer is my other choice but enough weird issues keep popping up that its hard to work with. Not to mention my explorers are space weed addicts and I keep loosing my police licenses with all the races.

I look forward to your next release.

[edit] never mind, figured it out. If you run the plugin manager by assigning it as the default program for .spk files, and then just double click the spk file, it doesnt get properly registered in the plugin manager. I did it through the Install menu option, and now everything is good.


I installed these 2 plugins, but there seems to be a problem. The plugin manager only shows 1 of the 2 as installed, even though both are available in the game. I dont like the Sat deployer, and want to remove it. (it only uses advanced sats, doesnt use nav sats).

I then uninstalled the explorer plugin, and now the original sat deploy command is hosed. Is there a way to properly uninstall the sat deploy plugin?

Everytime I try to download this, I keep getting this .man file and I can not open it. I have tried everything... a little help plz?
