Admiral, forgive me for my lack of posting, for i have been rather busying revising for my upcoming Nova Squad Examinations, i have one this wednesday and one the following monday, so i guess i will be spending more time revising than capturing over the coming week.

i shall endeavour to hunt today, though at the moment Saya Kho and i are travelling towards a Xenon Sector, and i dont know when i shall next see a nova.....

i shall report any findings back

How odd, I am transporting Saya Kho at the moment as well, its like theres double, perhaps my Saya Kho is really a fake! Wroking for the Secret Nova Service.

I'll just have to throw some Hornets at her ship and find out. My rating has streamed back up so I started Nova hunting again today. The first one bailed at 81% hull. God the Nova scourge are a bucnh of cowards.

Also, Omicron, in spite of your valiant efforts including but not limited too, 51 Nova's captured, regular UNCC posting, sending the Admiral rare Boron chocolates, I am promoting you to the position of Major immediately. This puts you very close to becoming Vice Fleet Admiral.

Congratulations Major Omicron, god speed on your Nova expedition, good profit, and a good hunt!

Wahey, many thanks Admiral, i shall continue my service towards ultimate extinction of the Nova Horde...

Now, though, i feel we need to recruit some new, dedicated members to the cause? how can we go about this?

Quattro i know is a good member, but he hasnt posted in a while....

so, is there anyone out there who wishes to join us in battle against the Nova Horde????

perhaps the EU release will bring new recruits....

EDIT: Also, how about setting up an Official UNCC website?

Admiral, I must apologize as the Nova Horde has grown uncehecked due to my complacency in conducting sweeps in the Argon Sectors...

However, I am currently conducting a secret project to develop the Royal Starfighter Corps to end this abomination once and for all. This project requires my fullest attention. I understand that this has a detrimental effect for the short term, however the long term payoff will be worth it.

The codename for this Project is "Condor"

Also, something called "Real Life" is interfering with the hunt. The Horde seems to have realized this and have resumed their activities, roaming all across space with impunity...

However, once my plans are complete, they shall again know the true meaning of terror....

To Major Omicron, I must congratulate you on your promotion. With you setting the example, I shall endeavour to smite the Horde once and for all...

Quattro, it is good to see you are still with us, and that you are planning this new attack against the Horde. Asd i have already said, this problematic 'Real Life' phenomenon is also interfering with my hunting, and the upcoming federal Argon Pure Maths 2 and Statistics 1 examinations in the coming week will be diverting my time away from the Hunt. Once said examinations are completed, however, i shall renew the hunt with an great passion. i fear the Horde will have taken much back in the time away, but they will fall once more, by my B-HEPT....

glad to hear someone with such entusiasm!... please keep a running tally of how many Novas you have captured so far in your sig if possible.... and check the first page of this thread for Ranks....

once again, Welcome aboard, we can use all the help we can get in tackling the Horde, and make sure to keep us informed about your trials and successes in battling the Novas in After Action Reports....

I agree with you Omicron, we do need new members, our front page shows quite a few but not enough, the Nova's still outnumber us around 50-1 and thats not including the ones that are rolling off the production line as I speak.

Welcome Pugz to the UNCC, for now this thread is the official domain and meet for UNCC members. Post often and capture Nova's and you will be promoted as you have seen happen to Omicron and Quattro...

Bagged me 5 Nova's in the past hour, a little slow but I had to re-load a couple of times, I swear I didnt mean to hit the Argon One, I swear!

Antigone Memorial is FULL of Nova's, I dont know why I never looked there before, it has now become my Official Nova Hunting Ground, in fact, I plan to buy an Argon Mammoth and give it some sort of cool name, and together we shall travel capturing Nova's far and wide

I need YOU to think of that cool name, you may have 1337 capturing skills, but lets test the ultimate skill, LITERACY!

Also Sir, I will need basic training on the art of capturing Novas, my attempts only lead to the death of a Nova.

It is good to see eager trainees like you joining our cause. But be wary, the Horde is strong and will not give up easily.

If you wish, you may read the UNCC's Tactical Doctrine regarding the capture of the Nova Horde, written by the Admiral himself. Learn it and remember it well trainee.

today 9 of the Horde fell by my laser, bringing my total up to 60 even..

It was a victorious day indeed, i managed to find yet another Secret Automated Continuous Nova Assembly Facility (SACNAF) in Omicron Lyrae, and managed to take down a considerable amoutn there. i also captured some in Black Hole Sun and Treasure Chest.

Admiral, you were correct, the Frontier sectors are infected with the Horde, i shall continue my efforts to cleanse the sectors, but i fear their numbers may once again be growing back in the homelands....

i am Major Omicron, Nova-squad leader and second in command of the UNCC...

Admiral Acidic will swear you in as an official trainee, please read the notices on the front page of this thread for info on ranks etc..

The Admiral has provided this guide for trainees with information on capturing the Horde:

Capturing Ships 101

Admiral Acidic's guide to the Capturing of Ships - Specifically Argon Nova's.

First things first, get an M3 or M4 class ship that has 2 front turrets with support for the Ion Disruptor. This means the following. I've rated them in preference.

M3
Split Mamba

Boron Barracuda

Teladi Falcon

Argon Nova

and a half
Pirate Orinco

M4
Argon Buster

Split Scorpion

Personally, I fly an Argon Nova and my main prey is the Argon Nova.
First things first read up on this, becayse we're going Nova hunting!

Nova's 101

Each shield left intact on a Nova (25MW) generally sells for around 100000 credits.

Nova's generally use BHEPT's with a GPAC for rear defense. Each BHEPT left intact on a Nova yields about 200000 credits and the GPAC will yield about 50000 credits

A Nova with no Cargo-bay extension sells for about $25000 less than one with a Full Extension

a Nova with 85% hull integrity and nothing else will nab you around 450000 credits. one with 20% integrity and nothing else will still get you around 130000 credits. Then add the above things on and determine the price

When hunting Novas dont get too close to them, they love to twist and turn and if one of them flys into you and blows up not only do you lose the Nova but you run the risk of damaging your own ship and lowering your rating dramatically.

Novas will fly towards you in a ramming-style move, DO NOT try to avoid them, they will avoid you, just stop, fire away and let it do its thing.

Fight to the last 5%, unlike TS's Novas will fight down to their last bit of hull.

Only attack Novas that are not in the vicinity of their parent M1, M2 or TL craft.

Never give up on a Nova, if its down to its last 30% there is a sure-fire way to capture it.

If the Nova has a low enough hull strength, fly away and leave it alone for a bit until its shields hit 100%. Then come back and hit it with Ion Disruptors. The sudden decimation of shields and the realisation that the hull is below 50%will give you a 9/10 chance of making the pilot eject. Using this method I have attemtpted 23 Nova captures, and I have 22 Novas

Only Goner pilots will surrender when asked, no other ship will, so thats out of the question (asking-wise). So know you have a ship with Ion Disruptors.

Purcase 2 Ion Disruptors, and 2 Gamma PAC's. Set one of the PAC's for rear missile defence.

Find yourself a Nova that aint too close to its parent ship and hit it once with the PAC. It will complain, do it again, once. It will complain again, now do it for the third time and he should become hostile.

Use hotkeys to switch the two forward weapon mounts to your ion disruptors and fire away. An Ion Disruptor does 20000 Shield Damage Per Second so 2 Disruptors should take about 1.5 seconds to level the 3 x 25MW shields on the nova.

Now switch one of the Disruptors to the GPAC and start hitting the Nova while adhering to the tips and tricks I labelled in Novas 101.

As you fire your two weapons the GPAC should hit the Nova, and it will always hit the hull because the Ion Disruptor which is firing at the same time will keep the shields at 0. Eventually the hull gets low enough and they eject and because the PAC does little damage you wont accidentally fry your ship if a few extra shots hit it.

If the pilot doesnt eject;
If the Nova has a low enough hull strength, fly away and leave it alone for a bit until its shields hit 100%. Then come back and hit it with Ion Disruptors. The sudden decimation of shields and the realisation that the hull is below 50% will give you a 9/10 chance of making the pilot eject
