In Q4 2006 EGOSOFT will release a final update to X³: Reunion under the title X³: 2.0 Bala Gi Research Missions.

Final update? As in, "no more bonus packs" final?

Anyway, rock on Egosoft, I'm certain to play the game again with this jewel of bonus pack. I long for it!

Egosoft is still relatively small when compared to Bethesda so they don't fall into the same scheme of things (imho).

Now I wasn't around for the first few incarnations of the X-universe at the beginning but when I jumped on board (X2) I saw something different about Egosoft. While a lot of companies have traded in some of their fanbase for $$$ (for whatever corporate reason(s)) Egosoft has not. When they make a product and something is missing, needed or even broken they put a lot of time into making it right

Plus they don't nickle and dime people just to make an extra buck when they know damn well what they are offering isn't worth squat. When Egosoft offers something new (such as an expansion) you get your monies worth!

Thats why I am an Egosoftian

Player HQ, buildable ships, a new class plus more in addition to the bonus pack. Good job Ego. This is one of the reasons X3 keeps coming out of my drawer again and again while others are relagated to dust traps a month after I get them.

The PHQ is HUGE

I hope there is an extensive 'camera monitor system' so you can get realtime video of the comings and goings around the station. Like an iteractive version of the old station monitors in the old games but fully controllable.

I hope the HQ allows you to view realtime video with zoom funcions with your advanced sattlelites.

FANTASTIC

I bought this game for £17.99, with free postage from play.com

I've been playing it since last Christmas and still only about halfway where i want to be. I've played over a thousand hours, thats 2p an hour and still still going down.

Now i get a freebie thats going to make it last till next Christmas!!!!!

Everything in this "update", from no-cd to pHQ is music, absolute music to my ears, and may save me a new dvd drive, cos boy does it whirl when i launch the game.

I've only come across this level of interest in their customers that egosoft has shown, once previously, by the original Unreal team. And anyone who has tried to install any of the The Sims games for their kids are sure to agree, there are some real crud software companies out there.

Egosoft (and friends or slave employees:))), I take my hat off to you.

Been away a while and TBH i uninstalled it due to reasons that i am sure get beat to death here. However i never lost faith in EGO or their employees as they have always supported their fan base.

With this new expansion coming and with the last announced just yesterday, i will be sure to reinstall my copy and once again enjoy the X universe.

P.S. i would still like to see the ability to make my own missions and share them, but till then i will contend myself with what Cycrow and the other great modders here have and willl continue to offer this small but dedicated community.

Stoped playing personally as too much like other x games. Might resume playing for a few weeks or somit when this comes out. As i only play for missions and combat now as trading is a bit boring after i did so much in first 3 x games.

This is fabulous news

Particularly the fact that a no cd fix is included,

Great to see egosoft continue to provide good aftersales support in the form of patches and expansion packs.

A nice early xmas gift that will be more than welcome...

Hats off to all involved and great to see the x-series get better as they are without arguement already choc full of features.

Just another reason why i will contiue to buy any future products

Awesome news. You may want to make the announcement clearer that there may be an expansion in the future still as until I read the whole thread it seemed that this update was to be the expansion and that X3 was "done" after the update was released.

That will come very soon - and it's got another big thing in it, that's why it took a little more time to prepare it for release.

Something only a few users know, if they've looked, is a reference to something thats supposedly ingame, but not.

Specifically, in the Tfactories.txt file, is a place holder:

SS_FAC_HQ

The proper name given it:

Player Headquarters

Up untill now, I figured it was a 'feature' that was never included, or would be. This, according to the news, will have changed.

Various Mods, starting with X2 and DeadlyDA, have had player stations, that are a bit beyond what the game originally had. X3 gave us stations that could produce ships. But now Ego is going to totally hose OUR ego's with this bonus.

DDA also brought out M7's, and various ships in his SSG X2 mod and DDRS mod for X3. To get a ship thats SPECIFICALLY a M7 CLASS, will also add fire to modders.

The bonus won't just be an addon, it'll boost the abilities of current mods, and the modders abilities, to extend X3 until the rumor'd Expansion shows up.
