I think you need to re-read what you said, because it doesnt say that at all. It says you can add a ship anywhere you like without any problem.nuclear_eclipse wrote:If you read the first page, it says exactly that =]
The paragraph I quoted in the last post, would be ideal in after what you already put.
Modding the existing ships is a different issue. And I agree, there is no decent way of doing it.The problem with that is: how would you go about modifying, removing, or replacing the previous ships? Moxy modifies a LOT of original ships for his M7 mod. Deadly does too for his DDRS mod. I even modify original ships for my Syndicate mod. The way you propose, you couldn't do that, and then nobody could change the core ships to fit their mod...
Sorry. I spent a long time in the IT industry rewriting crappily designed systems so that they would be easily modifiable in the future. I spent an enormous amount of time removing hardcoding. I specialised in doing the impossible. Thats the way I think. Hence its the way I express myself.I know it's possible for there to have been a 'better' way, but the truth of the matter is that the modification process we have in X3, albeit a bit obtuse at times, is VERY powerful indeed, and I think time is better spent using that great power than trying to find a better way...
But look at what your saying another way. Your all doing great work. But I will have to choose which of your work to use, because its not compatible with each other. Where I would prefer to install ALL of your work, but since the mods would cancel each other out, it wouldnt work.
There is a better way. I lament that no-one will ever look for it
In the meantime, I fell flat over the statement we are arguing about in my first attempt at a mod long before I read it. Your statement does need amending, and you already wrote the perfect paragraph to insert.
