I don't know if it makes any difference but the Steam version X3:TC game folder has no capitals in its name.
Thanks. You are right. i got the reunion version. Now installed properly with the TC version. One problem though, when i execute the command to collect data in-game. There is a short slowdown which should be sign that the script worked, but there is no log file to be found anywhere and the map is still the standadrt TC map. Im trying this for XRM btw.
That would probably be because the script is still pointed at the original TC cat/dat mapping and files rather than the added XRM ones, at a guess. You might have to do some more tweaking of the relevant script pointers to suit the mod. Hopefully someone else here will know for sure and how.
I have to say that this discussion is turning into an S&M forum issue rather than being about the vanilla Scorp map topic as intended for the Universe forum though.
Well I have taken the plunge after aLOOOONG time away and decided to run the XRM mod on a new install. After loading up all updates and the 3 XRM parts I only used the following Addons:
MARS Fire Control: latest version plus the required DATA files
Advanced Universe
Backgrounds
Docking Ware Size to conform with CODEA
Hull Low
After starting a new game I decided to install X3 Scorp Map TC edition
After moving all the necessary Script an T files over to XRM I loaded the game and started my last save. Move into space, setup hotkey and ran through the Object Search...... 100%
Ran Scorp and switched the Log001 over to the file generated in the Documents/Egosoft/TC folder and got ..... a bunch of error stacks!
Access violation at address 00437024 in module 'X3_map.exe'
Read of address 0457FFBC
It then dumps the program. When I try to start it up again I get this window popups:
EAccessViolation
Not enough timers available
Abnormal program termination
If I delete the new Log0001 file it will run and load the default
@ kosh vorlontay: Try the map on a vanilla game and see if it works. If it does then the issues with the map will be with XRM or your other mods and that is more a discussion for the S&M forum.

Any ideas what is wrong?
Make sure the file in question has MS-DOS format line endings, otherwise scorps x3map doesnt know how to handle it. Using Vim I do this with `:set fileformat=dos`.
Maybe notepad++ or the like does the same on windows.

The program is installed in (at least for me):
C:\Program Files (x86)\X3 map by Scorp
A folder name script is there, with an other folder named t inside it. Copy the content of the folder scripts, but not the t folder, to :
E:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\x3 terran conflict\addon\scripts
Then, whats inside the folder t to:
E:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\x3 terran conflict\addon\t
Then follow the instruction from the read me file, make the search thing shift F2, go to space, press shift f2, a log file will be created, it will be located in my documents\egosoft and thats that.
Worked for me like a charm.
Good luck and have fun.
That helped, thanks alot! (even its three years old :;-))
- it won't operate simultaneously with the game on the initial screen, due to it's dynamic file sharing..
- but you can run it alongside the Game, just drag and drop the map to the second screen,
- and when you want to use it press Alt-Tab to access it..
- the whole universe is running in BETA mode - we're working on it.. beep..!!
I installed the map, ran logging, fed the log file from documents to the map, got "Custom map loaded", but the map is completely empty, what am I doing wrong? I'm running XRM.

Hello, can I talk to someone literate?
Hi. Yes, you can. Can you read X3 Wiki or you need some help ?
P.S.
If you have modified game with custom map, then above links are useless to you.
Ignore my messages then.
I play vanilla game only and never posted messages in the X³: Terran Conflict / Albion Prelude - Scripts and Modding
(The place to discuss scripting and game modifications for X³: Terran Conflict and X³: Albion Prelude)
@ thefran: If you continue to be rude to people that are at least trying to help you then you will find your posts split and locked. Take that as an unofficial warning, but there will not be any more of those.

- when in space - click for a search (I use F10 key), you'll see a jittering effect for a second, that's the data loading to the script..
- then switch to Scorp's map, and hit F5 to refresh the snapshot..
- what you have then, is a map showing where ALL the wares are and their prices..
Is this compatible with AP? If so how do I make it so?
So far I'm having trouble getting it to work - the installer won't detect that I have TC installed (even though AP installs to an X3TC directory) but that may be related to the fact that I'm running the steam version? I tried running the registry file with the steam path substituted but it doesn't seem to have changed anything. Can I just get the scripts which seem to available in the x3 map directory and drop them in the correct folders?
Thanks.
Lead me not into temptation,
