I only have one suggestion... make the tool "movable" ;) I use multiple monitors and would love to have the tool displayed on one screen, X3 on another. As of now that's not possible, because it's always maximised on my Main Screen, as is X3...
you ought to remember that the map is updated only when you specifically request it

That actually does... nothing useful. It just refreshes the map, but it stays on the first Screen

And it's no Problem that the map isn't updated in realtime, thanks. Stations don't move that often and i'll hit the Script-Button and refresh it from time to time :)

i have problem with this map.

when i open x3 maps it will open the the custom maps? should this be the map from my game?

i have used the reg file as x:\\blaablaa\\blaa for the setuping correct path, i have steam version of the x3tc.

people talk about that they can find their own factories in the map i cant find any of these in "custom maps" or seem that it wont update as it should.

im using Vista 64bit.

I have a question and a suggestion for this application.

First the question:

What script are you talking about in the OP? I'd like to use the "show only known sectors" option, but even though I've been through every Argon sector, the only "known" sector on your map application is Argon Prime. I assume this is because I am missing the script you're talking about.

Now my suggestion:

You should make the application run in a normal window. I do not like having to minimize or alt-tab just to see my taskbar. It's not truly full-screen, and there's no reason for it to be full-screen.

the data on the map doesn't update in real-time
you have to stop the game in order to refresh the map using F5

once that's done the game recommences, you keep the snapshot
of the data at pthe recise moment that the F5 refresh was made..

- but the game itself moves on
- the whole universe is running in BETA mode - we're working on it.. beep..!! :D

Pressing F5 with the game running or not doesn't update what sectors I know of in the map. It simply reloads the map.

Or am I supposed to press F5 in the game?

Hey guys,

I've got a little bit of a problem. I used the map before but now the installation doesn't work correctly (It says it can't find the X3 Reunion directory, I guess that's because it's in the Program Files (x86) directory.
Here's the thing: I know I can use that registry file to fix this but I really don't have a clue how to edit it correctly. My X3 directory is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Egosoft\X3 Reunion" but if I enter this in the registry thing and run it, it just changes nothing.
The main problem is, that I use the Xtended Mod so the default map isn't enough.

A little help here would be nice :)

Have you copied a new log0001.txt file to your game directory, and pressed the O tab top right to draw up the dialogue box. This box at bottom then allows a search for the directory that the log0001.txt file is located. (whether a new one or old one)

I am running X3:R xtm mod atm, and all is well with Scorps map so far, though to make sure I have been SHIFT F2'ing in every sector I pass through to ensure the log file is updated. (Not sure if this needs to be done but I feel better doing this). Plus a refresh of the Map itself is needed to see updated info. ( I usually just exit and restart the map for this.)

A log0001.txt file doesn't even exist, because I need those scripts to create one. But since the installation of scorps map can't find my X3 directory it can not install the scripts.
I guess I could copy my whole game directory in the Program Files folder (for the programs that don't need to or can't run with 64bit) and install scorps map again, than copy everything back to the x86 folder... but I don't wanna mess with my game like that. I don't know if these script files are kinda bound to their original directory or something like that.

Did you put double backslashes in the path ?

Now it's just getting weirder o_O
I tried the double backslashes. The only thing that changes is that Scorps Map realizes that there is no log-file. So I run the game but of course there are still no scripts (didn't expected that to happen anyway). So I still can't create a log-file.
So I uninstalled the Map and installed it again... but now it keeps telling me that it can't open files in the directory D:\games\X3 Reunion\scripts (during the installation). Heck, I don't even have a harddrive named D! I just got C... but still... there is no \games\ directory on my C drive. I don't know where the installation gets those directories from.

You have to do what it says here (Not my post).

Change dthe path (drive and directory) to point to what is in your computer.
The file you downloaded (X3_path.reg) allows you to manually
tell Scorp's map program where to find your X3 game directory.
(since it can't find this itself sometimes, for various X3 installation reasons)

The file simply contains the text :
Quote:
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\DeepSilver\X3 Reunion]
"INSTALL_DIR"="D:\\Games\\X3 Reunion"

You need to:

1 Locate your X3 installation directory on you disc drive.

2 Edit the file with a text editor (eg notepad),
so that the INSTALL_DIR has the path to your X3 installation.
EDIT: don't forget to put double slashes in, as above.

3 Run the file (eg by double clicking on it in explorer),
this updates you Windows registry & when you run the map program
it should run OK.

Yeah, I did that. Exactly that leads to the problems described above. The weird thing is, that Scorps map obviously still thinks, that the X3 directory is D:\\games\X3 Reunion what's default value of the registry file. It seems it doesn't accept my changes of the registry because it's still trying to install scripts in a directory, that doesn't exist.

Edit: Okay, call me stupid... I just let the installation do its thing and ignored the errors. I totally forgot, that the installation copies the script files in the directory of the program itself too. So I easily could copy them manually. Everything's all right now. Thanks for your help, guys.

I wonder if this could be made fully compatible with XTC 1.1-r. It works but has no icon or colour for the Aldrin race.

I'd like to know this too - just tried the scripts & it seems to ignore any stations generated (by me or GoD) :(

in german game version there are some errors. I fixed them (not translated to german) by copying some lines from english language file:

Add those to 3577-L049.xml:

It can't find ships that don't currently exist.

I believe the CPU ships don't exist prior to their plotlines spawning them, & the Susanowa Proto is a rare random spawn.
