33 pages of whining. Got to be a record. If you want to talk buggy games, how about Daggerfall. More than thirteen patches and they never fixed people falling through the walls (just a workaround to let you teleport out of the dungeon). Or Morrowind. Three patches to get it working. For that matter just about every game released since computers started having hard drives (and a couple that only played from floppy drives before that) has had game-stopping bugs. I know, I played most of them.
For me, I have never had a CTS with X3 (in over forty hours of play). Of course, I am ignoring the storyline. My biggest issues have been a couple of hot keys that don't work, the loss of mobile mining, and incredibly dumb and weak AI opponents. For me, it just isn't as fun as X2.
On the other hand Civilization IV locked up my computer twice today, so completely that my only recourse was the reset button. And that after installing its multi-MB patch.
Yes I want the patch. But I prefer right to fast. I have a life and can wait until it comes out, this year or next, or the one after that.

I don't think they have to in a strictly legal sense. But I guess Egosoft wants to continue selling games in the future.MooMan7777 wrote:quick question...
is egosoft even responsible for making a patch?
By the way, any ETA for the patch, or mor detailed fix list?

I am surprised..... A post as simple as to the future release of patch 1.3 gets 33 pages of responses and cries. when I am frustrated I just try to think of where else I can play a game like this that isn't (online only) where I have to pay a monthly fee on top of the price of the game. x2 and x3 are the best games I have ever played. I wish more gaming companies would be willing to write a living alternate reality for your home computer. I hate online gaming.....

Couldn't agree more with you. But I have simpathy for the other people this is such a good game, that playing it with so many bugs becomes really fustrating. I haven't had that many crashes, but the couple I have had in 2 weeks playing have been annoying (all related to sound issues). I know that if I did what egosoft has done in my job I wouldn't last one more month.jdee_75 wrote:I am surprised..... Now how can you still be complaining after watching that!

The point here was that a _beta_ patch would introduce more bugs than it would solve, with the risk for example of making your savegames unusable with the official patch, which would put both you (who wants to retrieve your game) and Egosoft (to whom you'll surely ask for a solution for the problem, which they won't be able to give you) in trouble. And I find it difficult not to agree.Keltak wrote:So its ok to be SOLD a beta game, but not request a free beta patch....LOL
Besides, we've been told the patch would be out before Christmas. Then, if I'm not wrong, any patch released before the 24th at 23:59 would do right ? So let's stop complaining about the timing. Should the patch not be out on this date, I guess we will talk about it at this time, but for now we should let Egosoft work on this one.

Patch 1.3 any menu fixes?
Please egosoft...fix the stupid menu's in x3, theyre slowwwww as hell when you have lots of property (property menu I'm speaking of) and when you rename ships/stations, you get doubble spaces, no spaces, the same letter pressed twice, all the same bugs/pathetic slowness that i believe came with x2 also.
Really thats all I want for Xmas. During the course of a game if you build up your own empire, the property menu is completely unbareable, same with naming ships, its so bad i have to use extremely short names for everything I name, since you have to very slowly type the names, otherwise it doesnt quite get it...
I hope some tweaking is in 1.3, if this should definately be fixed in the next patch, this was even a problem in x2.
I have a top notch computer and when the menu's are usually the slowest thing in the game, something is wrong.

Yes there is alot of complaints here. No wonder, the game is not finished and I´ll probably not buy another game from egosoft for a looong time! I liked X2, and like the rest of us been waiting for X3, but unfortunately I bought X3. Dont get me wrong, I am a HARDCORE si-fi lover and I try not to complain, because life´s to valuable to be complained about.
But when you have a REALLY nice, powerful and sable computer shouldn´t the game atleast be playable and not this laggy? Sure, sure, there is a new patch coming , blah blah. Love your next and love the game for what it is..
WHY EGOSOFT, WHY RELEASE A GAME THAT`S NOT EVEN COMPLETED YET???
And for those puppies that can not participate in a discussion without being rude or just simply an idiot... Pls continue, cus u´ll all make the rest of us look better and smarter..

P.S. What if Volvo would release a car with out weels and a steering weel, telling you that "No problem, just buy the car and we´ll promise you that you get your weel´s soon enough... maybe... Fortunately volvo doesn´t do these things, only egosoft and the rest of the gamincommunity...

I'll bet my last M4, they didn't want to. I work for a software company, and I have seen releases being rushed to make deadlines that are set by other ppl.BoB_JekO wrote:![]()

Some programmers would put in all the hours they could to get the release to a workable state before it went out, even though it was unpaid overtime (as is the norm with developers in UK). I reckon EGOSOFT were no different, I bet the ppl there worked there butts off to get the game as good as they could before the deadline. And I take my hat off to them, they are putting everything they wanted the game to be into the patches, and I can wait patiently.
Everyone who doesn't have the game is gutted they cant get it, so would we all be if we were still waiting for it to be released.
All I would suggest, is if this is a trend that keeps cropping up, maybe the top bods at egosoft need to ask themselves why it keeps happening and what they can do to prevent it.
I for one am looking forward to the 1.3 patch, if only for optimisations - darn those in game menus are slow!
Anyway looking forward to it egosoft. Thanks in advance.
