I was thinking about getting this off steam since the English version available on here anymore. I have a couple questons about using steam. How does this affect other downloads succh as additional user-made quests? Will i stil be able ro download them? Or do they have to be vailable thru steam?

If you are referring to mods and scripts, than it's possible to use them with the steam versions of the games without problems.

Are there any plans to re-release the original SuperBox for English (i.e., with the X-Encyclopedia printed)?

This is great, I missed the previous edition. Now hoping to get mine box

I don't understand one thing - is this means that encyclopedia is bundled in .pdf in this release or purchasing it allows me to download the encyclopedia from the Ego page ?

@ mcdouglas: As mentioned earlier in this year-old thread, you can get it as a bundle download from Steam with download access to some of the additional stuff. As for a boxed copy with the hardcopy and disk goodies, you would have to be very lucky to find a copy overlooked in a software store somewhere but you could try asking around. I am unaware of any plans to do any re-release for boxed copies as even the new X3AP release is Steam-associated.

Hi DrATty,
I fear we have just bid farewell to the last DRM free ES product!
Superbox is available on Steam and if the disk package becomes available again, rest assured it will be well and truly managed by Steam.
So shed a few tears for the demise of the last ES offering to freely go where no Space Sim. has gone before!
Accept that all further ES offerings will be limited, smaller in scale and ambition, well and truly trussed up in the shackles of DRM.

To be honest, I'd much rather give my money to Egosoft, and be content with a torrent link to the DVDs, than installing any steamcrap on my computer.

I own a game = i have the install dvd ISOs on my storage.

Thanks anyway, will be looking at auction sites for the release.
