The Osaka is, as far as I know, the one buyable ship that can survive the dreaded Q OOS first strike volley, with 12GJ worth of shielding. The only downside of the Osaka in OOS combat is it's average speed. And those PSPs... well, they're not a PPC, but you don't need PPCs for OOS combatEmperorJon wrote:Thanks!

(not in the ungodly amount that a Boreas provides you with anyway). Other than that, I've had very good experience with the Osaka, both IS and OOS - It's still on the patrol assignment I've given it recently, and it had survived quite a few close engagements before that as well."Do or do not, there is no try"

Reapplying for the ... ah whatever.
OOC note: the Osaka is the only destroyer that I have successfully used IS during large-scale combat without it incurring hull damage. Yes, those PSPs aren't being charged by the AI, yes they deal less damage over a long time period, but from all the combat I could observe, the Osaka in question never fired more than 3 volleys (at which point the difference between PSP and PPC is minimal). All other destroyers (and I mean all, including the Boreas) managed to get themselves killed. Usually by the barrage of hostile PPC that was still in the air after the hostile capital ship was dead.
A note on Osaka usage: for IS combat, I've stuck it into a group with two Yokohamas for escort duties - although not needed, the two M7 ships provide excellent fighter cover and additional firepower when facing a hostile destroyer. I also found that due to the comparatively small size of the Yokohamas, their shields lasted much longer than I expected them to. Haven't lost either of those, too. The Osaka always got there in time to finish the job.

If my skills as a Terran starship captain are not going to be appreciated and respected by providing me with a Terran ship, I can still settle for an... inferior Commonwealth design. As much as it pains me to admit, OTAS is almost on par with us with regards to several technological aspects, so if anything, I'd prefer one of their ships.
However, I have no way of discrediting your fears of my being a potential spy but one - I have no idea why you would have the cause to believe that my government does not trust you. As far as I'm aware, we are slowly opening diplomatic channels towards the Commonwealth, and even if some elements within our government do not like the idea of "aliens" interacting with us as equals, I see no way that we can be part of the interstellar society whilst completely shutting ourselves off from the Commonwealth. It is thus my firm belief that cooperation should be encouraged, which is why I insist on you reconsidering my application. I am risking my position in the USC by merely submitting my application, let alone submitting it multiple times.
I am looking forward to our future cooperation... if it ever takes place. I would be deeply saddened if your rejection of my application were to be final, and I'm afraid such an act might reinforce the isolationists' position, thus further deteriorating the relationship between the Terran people and the Commonwealth.

So to find out about completing the HuB you'll have to wait a week at least...
I expect to find some convo on here when I get back, mor submissions for places, suggestions on what to do next, areas to try and... claim... I'm thinking 347 here...
Factories to build, ships to buy... If anyone can come up with a decent Hammer+Flail complex for less than 600M I'm happy. (Not using stuff I've alread used! Unless you're reusing part of a previous complex...)

Just reached Battlemaster fight rank, and we have a second Boreas up and running, next step is to buy a fleet of M6s.
Most people use fighters as a main fleet weapon, I've decided using M6s instead will be better. Much increased survivability!
Then, after that, (or before) spend my ~500M credits on a good investement...

‘Fixed!? I thought you were suddenly going to request half a million Quantum tubes to get it working again? Or maybe an energy injection of a Billion energy sells and coating the external structure with a hundred thousand XL Solar Power Plants! You mean, it’s actually done!?
His head bobbed happily.
‘Finished. Done. Completed! Well… there is one more step…’
I groaned.
‘We have to turn it on, the 3rd gate set.’
Ah. That wouldn’t be too hard…
‘What? What’s wrong?’
He looked at me.
‘If this goes wrong, if the generator overloads… that star there that this thing is plugged into… will go Nova... You don’t want to be next to a star during a Supernova.’
‘Ah. Oh well.’ I said, slamming a tentacle on a rather cheesy looking button which said ‘On’ in big red letters.

‘Turning it one, duh!’ I smiled, laughing, slightly maniacally.
There was a hum and a ding noise.

I dropped Mahi Ma of in Kingdom End, where he went to notify the Boron government of Bala Gi’s disappearance.
I hurried off to make more money and set everything straight. More assassinations, more Xenon Genocides, more cash in the bank. Set my 2 Complexes producing Microchips to sell, I knew the market was huge, and soon they’d reeled in 25M a piece. I had over 700Mcr on hand in the accounts and in individual stations, so I set 2 craft to jump from the HuB buying up Heavy Weaponry and prepared to outfit a second Boreas.
I cleansed Xenon from Bright Profit and Bluish Snout, held them off in Eighteen Billion, defended several factories and soon had my personal account back to ~500Mcr.
Time for a permanent investment. I’d built about 5 Spacefuel fabs in LooManckStrat’s Legacy only to see the Boron turn up, capture the sector and destroy them.
It was time for a larger operation, somewhere safer. Not just Fuel, but Weed as well. And maybe a few Disintegrator Rifles. And SQUASH Mines.
I could see it now. ‘LV’s Drunk and Stoned Weapon Shop’
What good I was doing for the universe.
It wouldn’t be long before the Boron Government cottoned on to what LV stood for… They weren’t idiots. Sooner or later I’d pay for my new life… and I knew it.

The new complex is coming along nicely, and the Argon moved in after I clained the sector and built a Military outpost, then the Teladi turned up and started building stations.
