My o my. "Please release the patch now so we can play?".
I didn't know that egosoft created a patch that worked and haven't release it. Shame on you Egosoft.
Or you did perhaps say that we would like another patch that introduces more problems, but atleast its v1.3.
Ah, so then you didn't mind that the game was pre-released cause you would want to play the game. No matter what.
Hm.
Strange thoughts people have.
Just strange.
Please somebody make me God.

What to say, well I have the game in my hands, but I can't play it cause my PCI-Express can't isn't fast enough. However once my Radeon X1800 xt 512 gets out I'm hoping in less than 12 days, now, that I might be able to play.
As for patch 1.3, if its stable enough it might be a good idea if ES would just release that. Then work on fixing more stuff in patch 1.4. Personally I have enough other games to play or work/family to keep me busy till es releases update.
Wish List for x3
- No CD Support, (I hate having to replace my DVD drives after playing cd/dvd based games for hours on end) Adding this to x2 was a godsend.
Other than that, thanks to egosoft team for working hard on getting us a new patch for the game. Merry Christmas ..
(as a game developer myself, we do need some sleep, maybe milk and cookies to help, in the case of egosoft devs, maybe tooth picks to hold eyes open to code better)
peace!
I'm looking forward to a stable release, even if it takes a few more days!

I have a dream, that one day ... 1.3 will be released.
And childen will be dancing joyfully in the streets, fowlers will rain from the rainbow sky.
Dear lord of egosoft how long we have to be patiently waiting for your mighty sign of mercy, to release our tormented souls from these evil bugs ?

Personally i've played through the storyline, am just goin through the universe leaving my mark on the foreheads of many races... i've not noticed that many bugs... yeah it gets really laggy in the xenon sectors when i'm fighting my arse off... but other than that the only other lag i've experienced is in argon prime and home of light... i've not got a great system... but i'm running the game at the highest settings... and lag is my only problem...Exus wrote:The patch is ment to come out before christmas ... why do i have the feeling that egosoft will wait till christmas eve or even worse wait till one minute before christmas and upload it ...
My Rig:
Pentium 4 Prescott 2.8gig @ 800fsb(Watercooled with Thermaltake Bigwater 12)
2gig Ram 3200 running at dual @ 800fsb
SATA Hard Drives... Onboard sound... Gigabyte GA800-IPE mobo
... yada yada
Anyways point is... if they released the patch on christmas day or whenever... my gaming experience can only get better... can't it?

I'd rather count on "Before new years eve". That way you won't be disappointed. I myself count on christmas 2009. If it gets released before that time I'll be pleasantly surprisedExus wrote:The patch is ment to come out before christmas ... why do i have the feeling that egosoft will wait till christmas eve or even worse wait till one minute before christmas and upload it ...

See? There's just no way to disappoint me

If I were them I would release it at the last possible moment 10 minutes before the staff Christmas party would be about right.
I would do this for 2 reasons
1 it maximises the work that can be done on the patch and so fixes more problems, while still keeping to your word.
2 and most important you all get to go home and have a good Christmas and all the emails from us saying whats this crap, why didnt you fix A B and C, its too big, my saved games have gone, I dont like it please tell me how to remove this patch.
And Dear Egosoft I have applied this patch to my copy of X2 and the game doesnt work any more.
Oh and possibly the occasional well done guys

RECOMMENDATION - Re: Early details for next X³: Reunion patch - 1.3
If you all are planning on release before this coming holiday weekend, I would highly recommend you do it BEFORE the close of the business week. Should there be any problems with the patch itself, you may need to implement emergency fixes before everyone goes home for the holiday.....else you are going to have a lot of pissed off people who are unable to play for the long holiday period until business resumes after Christmas.
Just a thought...

The features are of course not final so some may be missing upon release but the intention is to get as much in as possible.
Feature List, and Fixes
- Mobile mining
- Sector enhancements
- HUD render performance increased
- Bullet render performance increased
- additional user-defined graphics options
- Optimized shader overall performance
- Higher quality /and speed of medium shaders
- Plot elements restored to working (should also be for existing saves too)
- CPU load reudced, increasing whole game performance
- NPC fight AI improved
- GOD engine rebalanced, also affecting economy
- M1 & M2 shield generators increased
- M2 laser generators increased
- Swarm missiles rebalanced and NPC AI tweaked to allow handling of them
- Complete tips menu with all game tips introduced
- Pirate stations spawn pirate ships
- Increased NPC fights and conflicts
- Plot ending Argon rank bug fixed
- Argon v Boron battle issues resolved
- Captured ship speed bug fixed
- Ships straiking a gate following jump fixed
The above is certainly not an exhaustive list but just designed to give you an idea of the content. A new version of the update has very recently been released to testers.

If the schedule is for before xmas day then the patch info should be updated in a day or two and posted Abyss, as the patch should ideally be done a week before release and 1 week to test it if it really is before xmas. So can we have a updated pre-release readme for the patch with more fixes thats already done (so there in now and working) if possible. Also just a general update really I supose is all im asking for the community.
As if its coming out within a week now (7 days till xmas now) then there is probably a feature and bug halt now while thourough testing is done now. So readme should be available as i said in a day or two.
Yes i know its not definate release date before xmas day but I thought i'd ask abyss as he is the PR guy that is doing this.
By some chance there is a delay they would know this already. So would be nice if egosoft/abyss would be kind enough to post that a delay has happened or not and to update the readme list.
Cheers..
Oh and Happy xmas all.

Ahoi.
Good to hear that a patch is comming out to fix several bugs. I myself haven't had many problems at all, if any (apart from obvious plot related issues etc). I'm enjoying X3 quite a bit. As for the lagging, well that existed for me in X2. It isn't really that big of a deal for me. Takes like a couple of seconds to get respone when entering a system like Argon Prime and then its flyable again.
I'm on exactly the same system as I had with X2 and it is by no means a 'top of the range high-performance system'. I have more issues with BF2, AOE III, HL2, CS, etc in terms of crashes and fatal system errors than X3. I don't know of any game that I have ever played where there have not been some sort of error with it. And with Egosoft being dedicated to fixing as many of the problems as possible, then all the better and I applaud them for it. I suppose I was more lucky than other as my copy of X3 came shipped as version 1.2. And the copy protection thing was the same in X2 - it hangs for a bit but it gets done.
For those people who are having problems, just hang on. Its great fun.
And if you were an X2 fan then you should already know that.
When I see game like this on the shelves it seems obvious to me that you would have to expect to have at least some sort of a 'decent' system to run it. I also know that its going to be worth it
I do say that it will be better when things are fixed but as I've said before, if Egosoft is at least trying to improve things, then thats great and I'm happy. You don't get commitment like that everyday!! I'm sure Egosoft and the publishers have learnt some lessons from this and will try their hardest not only to improve the outcome now, but also next time.
Anywho thats my speil. I have found X3 great. Can't wait til X3: some expansion or X4
Cheers
(And merry xmas to all)

If you need to lower to the desk top it's a real nuisance to have to fy back, dock at a station save your game, quit, look up how to activate the script editor, then start the game again. Especially if your computer runs slow. Although that alt tab-ing would probably take the same amount of time as quiting and starting again would.
