That's because you have to be logged in here to access the Public Beta Feedback forum.

I just checked the Public Beta thread on the Steam forum, and it doesn't say "no registration needed" anywhere. In fact I'm not sure where you've seen that at all. I'm only mentioning this, because if it did say that somewhere then I'd get it corrected. :)

Edit: I've been shown the page where it says that, but having clicked on the link in a browser where I'm not logged in, it works fine. I now don't know why you had problems with that before!

For info, we've now rolled out the workaround for this issue into 6.10 HF1 on the Release branch, as well as into the 6.20 Public Beta. If you have made savegames in the Public Beta branch and wish to continue using them then you should stay on that branch until 6.20 goes on full public release. Otherwise it's up to you whether to play using the 6.10 HF 1 release version or the 6.20 Public Beta. :)

@CBJ, thanks a lot for that. Is there any news on the fix?

The "proper" fix is going to take a bit longer, and we don't yet have a firm ETA for that.

I'm seeing that the 'workaround ' covers the newer 23-7-2 driver, as I'm unable to test whether this latest driver affects the game with the hotfix installed. As is does not matter what the in game volumetric fog setting is, it's ignored.
Fixed graphical issues with some AMD driver versions (workaround disables volumetric fog when affected drivers used).

That's correct. We're assuming that the change in behaviour of the driver is permanent, and rather than issue a new hotfix to work around it for every new driver version, the workaround is applied for all new driver versions.

I asked a amd rep at ocuk forums about this and this is what he said.

Hey there, thanks for pointing this out. We've been working on this for a little while now, Hopefully we can get a fix for it soon

What of that as you will.

TBH, that sounds like there is a known issue at AMDs end which they're working to fix. Apparently, the 23.7.2 drivers are generally worse for a number of people that the 23.7.1. It's frustrating that it's not clear what issues there actually are. I don't want war and peace from them, but an acknowledgement of what the current issues are and who's working on them would be good.

I get similar issues at work with Cisco. I've lost count of the number of TAC cases I've raised only to be told 'Yes, we know about that issue and it's a bug, but the bug reference is currently private so we can't share it with you as it's not visible'. It's infuriating.
