Yes, the name at least from the screenshot posted above is the same woman as in the explorer gamestart, just with "Dr." at the front. And not to worry, in the X universe (at least in X4) I haven't detected any patronizing based on gender so far, nor is there any utility to "dangly bits" so you won't miss them.

Ide love to see the Q return, and I think a ship about half the size of the K and much more agile could be interesting. It could have new xenon flak turrets and a big main swarm missile launcher as a main weapon. Anti-fighter escort for Ks (swarms could be fairly effective against capitals too).
Or another crazy idea that would probably require a lot of work, could be a drone swarm carrier - launches tiny drones that works just like repair drones but in reverse, swarming capitals (this feature could be used to make wreck-salvage gameplay too ;p ).

There are not enough resources at the moment available to create big new ships, thats why i have an eye on the smaller enemies.

How about more kitbashing and asset reuse? I mean Ares is basically Perseus with 2 additional guns.
Take some Xenon mass trafic models and make them their combat drones (currently Xenon stations use same combat drone model as other races, which looks odd).
Bash two Xenon L models together at 45 degree angle and you basically end up with LX from X3.
Take Xenon K model, strap all elements, downsize it to L-size (wold probably need some additional effort, like downsize the engines model), bash some cargo containers at the back/side, then add some turrets and you have Large freighter/miner.

These 3 seems simple and easy.

It would be much harder with Xenon carrier, but for start, it would be good to add landing/launch capacity to Xenon I (the ship is plenty big enought to find free space).

Funny that in Skyrim and Fallout:NV I always played as female...because I don't want to stare to man ass during 3rd person gameplay
In X4 player body is nearly non-existant (you have to try really hard to zoom in in external view to see yourself), so it really doesn't matter much if you're male or female in this game.

I can see it, I like to view my ship a lot from the outside and look into the cockpit, etc. Unfortunately for me, I can only play the Val Selton start because I want to be a male human, not anything else. Can we get some more male humans? That would be great. Val Selton has no hair, which also annoys me lol.

Anyone notice how expansionist the Factions are getting now?

Several hours playthrough of Beta 6 so far and Antigone has claimed Frontier Edge, the Teladi have claimed both Turquoise Sea Sectors, i'll have to see if the Argon have taken Heretics End. But those Uninhabited Sectors are not staying that way now. The other Factions are just gobbling them up. Hatikvah's Choice is still neutral as is the other 2 Silent Witness Sectors, so i'm claiming them all before the other Factions take them.

Also haven't seen a single Xenon T, seen an Ares, similar build to the Perseus, just has a couple more guns.

Just a small Hotfix 1 to Beta 6 to address a few problems there such as beam weapons not damaging properly, mode display, fighter attack mechanics, and map object selection. When in doubt, check the changelog.

I have a question regarding the 3.0 beta: I am really itching to get back into X4 but, due to limited game time, I don't want to start over when 3.0 and the expansion releases. So, the question is: If I download and install the 3.0 beta will my saved game be 100% compatible with the official release or is there a reasonable chance I'll need to start a new game?

There is always a small chance with Beta versions that savegame compatibility will get broken by a particular Beta version, which is why we make it very clear that people need to back up their savegames if they want to play the Beta, but we do try very hard to avoid breaking savegame compatibility and most of the time it works out fine.

If it is a vanilla (unmodded game), then I would say there is very, very little likelihood that 3.0 will break your game. The more heavily modded, especially mods that change the core gameplay, the more chance that things will get messed up by 3.0

Whilst that is true regarding the increased risk to modded games, the main risk to vanilla games is that an unforeseen important bug can be introduced in one of the beta versions that is not so easy to remove from saved play even once it is eventually noticed during testing. That has happened once or twice in X betas before and is the reason that only release version saves are considered safe for use for long-term gaming; that is why you are advised to back them up before beta testing.

The best approach is to consider that beta versions are there for testing while release versions are for playing.

I appreciate the replies. I am just so excited for the new patch & dlc. However, it seems prudent to wait till the official release... In my particular circumstance anyways.
