Can we get shield generators added to the teladi condor and stork's engines? The zeus, colossus, nomad, and atlas have engine shields. Every other teladi ship gets more engine shields then their faction counterparts, but for some reason the condor and stork has none at all.

What do you mean by ship modularity? You can change weapons and shields in X3? Yes. X3 engine tuning makes almost the same as X4 thruster slot. It's not about "some ppl old fart for old days". Look at how different was M3 fighters with 25MG shields and 200MG in X3. Can you achieve this in X4? I doubt it. Restricted weapon slots make factions distinctive even during space fights. You can clearly see from a far "oh, this one is paranid fighting plasma-thrower pirate". Can you achieve such difference in X4? No.

I dont like that idea at all, would be much better imo if racial differences were increased in this regard not eliminated.
Like having a lower tier of universal weaponry, and the best weapons would be race specific - impossible to mount on other races' ships, and would have a higher rep requirement.
This way the differences not just in look but in combat behaviour would increase and each race would have more of a "character".

The only problem I see is lack of choice on the Weapons/Shields/Missiles/Boosters/Engines front.
We need a hell of allot more with different stats, maybe even special abilities that other engines don't have?
Weapons wise, we need more Rock/Paper/Scissors weapons.
Ships need to be designed more in a way that they are stronger against certain ships and weaker against others.
I'm sure for Egosoft that it's not easy to balance this out where you don't have one weapon that is simply a Legendary among all the others.
But they need to try; variety is everything to ship classes.
Then there was the Pulse Emitter that at MK 3 level continued to burn away at a ships hull upon contact.
The Plasma Cannon MK 3 that you could charge up and fire at big ships to destroy surface objects, but hard to use on smaller ships.
The Teladi Laser Beam that cut through shields and damaged the Hull.
Not as versatile as X3 weapons but it was getting there.

I think a mixed of both is perfect. For example in X:R you dont have any freedom. You only can define the number of specific turrets but you can not chose what kind of turret you want. That is bad as well.
What I think is a good way is that some weapons should be special. For example a long range artillery, high energy weapons, torpedo launchers or some special race weapons. In general the strongest or longest range weapons (of each size) should not be placable on all ships. These weapons should only be fittable on some specific ships in a limited amount.
Making all ships with the same weapons is boring in my opinion. You only choose the best chassis and put the different weapons for different purposes on it and voila.. you have a fleet ready for every situation but all look the same.

What i absolutely loved in X3, that every faction had its character. Hell, even X-rebirth managed to partially do that with some ships (Sucellus, Gangrene Chaser, Xenon capital ships etc...)
However, I think the devs will leave that to modders...
