I have this issue too, across all versions since release.

The fact that hitting escape twice fixes this issue for every person i've seen having it indicates to me it's likely some kind of issue with tracking what keys are currently down or something similar.

The difficulty in nailing down the exact repro makes me thing it's something like uninitialised memory or some kind of invalid over simplification of key combination tracking

I've got Razer mouse & keyboard.

Я назначил кнопку пробел на движение вверх. Во время облета вокруг станций в режиме сканирования кнопка пробел иногда перестает реагировать, помогает переход в меню через Esc, реже при обычном полете перестает реагировать команда ускорения через кнопку Tab

I've assigned the space bar button to move up. During the flight around the stations in the scanning mode, the space button sometimes stops responding, the transition to the menu through the Esc helps, less often during a normal flight, the acceleration command stops responding through the Tab button

У меня дополнительный вопрос. Почему я не могу в настройках игры на левую кнопку мыши назначить команду "огонь". Так же не могу назначить на кнопку Ctrl "движение в низ"?

I have an additional question. Why I can not in the game settings on the left mouse button to assign the command "fire". Just can not assign to the Ctrl button "move to the bottom"?

Something I've noticed. A couple of days ago, I took my graphics from "High" down to "Medium" in options. So far I have not had anymore issues with firing my weapons in dogfights. I still have the red exclamation point for settings on medium but going to keep my settings on medium. Can't understand it. I have a high end graphics cards with plenty of memory on it and 16 gigs of regular memory. Will keep an eye on weapons in dogfights.

I have this issue too, but its hard to reproduce. To me it seems that it happens more often in some situations than in others.
I was searching for crystals yesterday for example and there I had that problem a few times. Also it happens more often during dogfights it seems.

The problem is the same as described here, hitting escape twice always restores the function.

Win 10 - 64bit
Logitech keyboard and mouse (both quite old but drivers are up to date)
1.50 Beta game version (I had the problem already with 1.10 or before)

Mouse wheel, space bar, and tab stops responding. Getting up and sitting back down clears it. How can that be keyboard related? 2 different devices having malfunction at the same time and this only happens when x4 is being played...

I've had mousewheel stop responding about 3 times on the stable (steam) branch, so I would only be able to acelerate/decelerate with keyboard. So far keyboard did not stop. Somewhere the function was restored, but I don't know if I hit ESC twice or something else. I wasn't looking at the forums previously.

Windows 7 64bit
Keyboard: Logitech K800
Mouse: Logitech Performance MX
setpoint: v6.67.83 driver: v5.90.41 (probably ages old)
Both on same receiver.

edit_ tried, but could not reproduce on provided save file.

I've just had this happen for the first time, the only thing I can add to this thread is that

1 - I was running 1.5B2, so the issue is ongoing

2 - I run in windows mode and so was able to mouse click to another application and check my keyboard - all keys and actions worked fine. I then switched back to X4 and it was still not accepting the key presses.

[1.5] Periodically losing input

Post by LameFox »

1.5, English, no mods, 3rd start.

So I bought a Behemoth lately, and in the process of flying it, I often go back and forth between the f2 chase cam and f1 internal in order to line up ships, select targets manually, and minimize collisions. I mention this because I suspect the frequent switching (I don't really do it in other ships) may have something to do with this:

Every now and then, during these fights, I will entirely lose some input or another. The first time, it was my mouse scroll wheel no longer changing speed (x and z on the keyboard still worked). In other cases, I've lost keyboard input like space (remapped to toggle mouse steering). It always seems to be flight controls, and it's never the entire device. It's not permanent, as they seem to be restored by entering a menu and then returning to the game, which is fortunate but also means I can't show it in a save. The hardware itself (razer naga chroma and corsair k60) does not appear to be having issues anywhere else.

Not sure if these really matter for this but I'll include them anyway:

Nope it has likely nothing to do with that. The true culprit is the hidden menu on the top of the screen and the game being trash and not keeping the mouse pointer exclusive to 1 context at any time despite there being explicit mouse modes like menu/gameplay/mouse aim gameplay. Thus periodically, the more demanding the situation is on your machine, the mouse gets caught on the top menu even if you use mouse aim. This is likely not helped with ships that have turrets since the turret controls are also part of the same menu cause why go the extra mile to make sure this exact problem can't happen. Your problem probably stems from the increased workload from changing camera positions, but it is not the inherent problem. Also this is an 1.0 issue. It carried over from there.

Hi all,

thanks for your reports. This issue will be fixed in an upcoming version. (Not part of the 1.51 Beta.) I will try to update when I know which one it is.

Florian

Edit: The fix is part of the 1.60 Public Beta
