Protip: It's not necessarily about whether there will be a Bonus Pack but that it certainly wont include 99% of the stuff that has been requested here so far. Up till now this has just been a bad excuse to open yet another topic to request random stuff to be added / changed by people who have absolutely no clue what work it entails.

Just so we're all clear then, only expert programmers or people who are experienced in modding or scripting should have the right to make suggestions or requests for new mods without being belittled and made to feel like imbeciles? Is this correct?

I personally have a lot of respect and appreciation for your past contributions in terms of the mods/scripts you've created for the community, but I think expecting average gamers like myself to distinguish between possible and impossible modifications is a bit unrealistic. Discouraging community members from sharing their ideas for enhancing the game seems entirely unnecessary.

One of the reasons I LOVE the X games is because of the incredibly dynamic modding community and the wide array of modifications available. I'm looking forward to whatever mods you create for X Rebirth, but in the interim, is it really too much to ask to simply ignore those requests you don't consider worthy of your efforts?

Actually, it works like this:

Anyone can go to their forum profile and activate their account for "dev net" (which is free) and read the Bonus Pack rules and procedures.
If they don't bother they will be belittled and made to feel like imbeciles. =P

Asking for something that is clearly not Bonus Pack material isn't helpful. It's spam.

that why i remap the keyboard use function to 'F' target push 'F' no more double click :spam:
My F Is currently cycling my weapons. But I may just get rid of my Q and E as the ship auto writes any way...why worry about rotation.

Unlikely you will find them as from all posts from Bernd on the Steam Forums indicate they do not exist. You can not tell small ships like fighters and freighters to go some where, you can how ever attach them to a cap...period.

Kind of a bummer...lost a Katana I captured to it puppy dogging around me...It got a few jumps behind and was beaten to death by Reavers. So I am for a mod that adds a stop, go to, and may be even Escort for those non-cap haulers.

Thanks for the clarification, Gazz. I took the liberty of deleting all use of the word "bonus" from the original post. Now people can post their ideas without fear of being ridiculed, right? :wink:

I don't have time to do any custom modding myself, but I signed up for dev net nonetheless. I'll do the level 5 NDA later if I ever decide to start programming some mods for the game.

[Request] Sector Map

There actually is a sector map there, its hard to find but it is there, and it looks almost like it did in X3. So it is there, its just buried deep in menus. Can someone put that map on that screen we have there in the cockpit, as a minimap?

Also can someone put the numbers and percentages back on the speed and shield bar?. I can hardly notice how much is left, especially when Im busiey fighting.

Requests for Functionality Mods

After (painfully) stumbling through the free play mode of the game for about an hour, I've come up with a list of functionality mods/improvements I'd love to see:
1) Average price paid for a good that is in your ship(s)'s hold, shown in the "buy/sell" interface. That way, when you are selling, you can see if the transaction is going to yield a profit, rather than having to track it on a notepad next to your keyboard.
2) Always ALWAYS show the current “sell” price for a commodity when dealing with a vendor. I know, it’s around 90.5% of the purchase price, but still, it would be nice to have when looking for profitable runs without having to guestimate it every time.
3) Quick key for buy/sell max available. It used to be Home/End in X3. What happened?
4) Target Nearest Enemy quick key. How does this not exist natively???

Sorry, I’m going to rant for a moment, but seriously, did ES even playtest the game? I feel like these features should have been implemented very early in development, especially since most of them were in X3R/TC/AP. I want to love this game (desperately) and I’m giving it every chance I can, but right now I’m woefully unimpressed and am reinstalling X3.

And look, I’m completely willing to eat crow if all these features are in the game and they just don't appear in the control settings. I would love to find out I’m wrong and all this stuff is there and I can mostly go back to loving this game. (Mostly because I can’t fly other ships/types).

Maybe a 5th mod would be "re-institute the X3 interface". For as awful as X3's UI was, it's eons better than this. </rant>

Thanks for reading and please don't take my comments the wrong way - I just want to see the game more playable/friendly.

im not sure yet, but because egosoft compiled there LUA scripts before shipping them im not sure much can be done with the UI, still investigating tho.

I have a fleeling im going to have to get rather intimate with LUA bytecode...

It actually appears when you target a blue hyperhighway entry point, so there must be a way for a mod to trigger it so it always displays instead of "No Signal"

auto-rotation is cool thing but in options you can switch it off and use "q" and "e"
another point is - old fans get used to it - its mean "q" and "e" by default is good

you say "hold mouse button" but if you press "space" and switch mode
hold-mouse-button will rotate ship - its mean you "desire" interfere and will not work
devs not stupid - they picked up the button for a long time that all parties are satisfied

another thing is "nobody cares" about your desire's.. siriusly
but many players can have same issue just like you
its mean - or somebody will come up with a new approach and you just need patience
or only you yourself can do it by study modding capabilities

simple

ps. Of course you can re-bind all the buttons as desired
Also if you still press "enter" for menu wheel in-game
try re-bind it on button close to "WASD" (or maybe mouse button - if it work)
then do not have to remove your hand from the mouse

He wish he could freely walk and not be only an animation inside the cockpit and have the whole ship open instead of going into the *backship instance*.

Because i'm so tired of seeing that huge text in the bottom of my screen 24/7 at all times.
You'd think the game would understand that you got the tooltip after the one hundredth time you've pressed space to exit cursor flight mode.. :roll:

You know, the more I think about this, the more worked up I am getting about how taken for granted I am feeling.

This, flat out, is not an X game, and it's not the game I was sold.


I've worked in game development for the last 13 years, and if I, as a producer, had let this steaming pile go out the door, my career would probably be over or I'd be headed back to QA.

They did a real good job burning this bridge, and now having just read Bernd's post about the the "great success" this game has been really lit the fuse.

Ok I will try to be the most easy to read as possible (english is not something my first language)

In my growing love/hate relationship with this game, I came on a rather unexpected issue. See I love the idea to be in a as much immersive as possible universe. And I see that the game try to be immersive .... and fail on an important aspect.

Yes yes the voice acting.

So I guess from that point, and if I'm not completely full of stupid when I assume that it is possible, the natural course for some of us would be to hope that the modding community come to help this game on this aspect.

I guess some will not have a big problem in the end with th voices (there are indeed other things that need to be done by de devs and would be more interesting gameplay-wise to do for the modders, I totaly agree) but since I didn't see any post on the forum for the subject other than "REMOVE ALL THE VOICE \0" or just bitching about it ...

I know there are communities for voice acting in my mother language (I'm french), so I'm kinda assuming there must be the same for english people. Yeah I know I'm asking for things I'm not willing to do because I don't think you will like a "Show me your ware, sacrebleu" in your game with my cheesy french accent :wink:

So in the end, having a game with more voices, better voices, better banter, and so on should be possible.

If it's impossible I'm sorry for wasting your time guys. :wink:

And be able to water your plants, clean a window and perhaps put up some drapes? Eyes on space captain, your ship has one purpose and it has nothing to do with chessboards!

People asking ES to be able to walk around on ships and stations, very nearly ruined this game. Focus on the stuff that actually matters.
