Maybe they plan to flip the switch at 09:00 GMT and told us 12:00 GMT just because of that reason.DaddyMonster wrote:Really appreciate you guys letting us know the release time - particularly as there's an outside chance that everybody will go crazy at 12:01 GMT if there's a delay. Next time, treat us like children, add an hour or two and then say there's a early release to be nice
Yup, 11:00PM is a really awkward time, I don't know whether it is better to stay up late or get up early. The latter is more sensible because the activation rush may have died down and I have a full day to start playing- on other hand the sooner the better feeling is very strong?Hornet108 wrote:Don't suppose you guys could be proper pals and release it a few hours early so us aussies can get some meaningful playtime on the 15th? <3
I am sure they prefer to rather stand guard when it's released, so they can act instantly if anything goes wrong. Which would be impossible for a "release at midnight by one brave soul".BKTiel wrote:Who releases a game in the middle of the day? For me it was to cut down on the amount I had to download since I'm on a monthly allotment, 4.4gb to download would eat up under half my allotment. Now imagine if the first attempt failed somewhere after getting to 90 some odd percent, or the game didn't install correctly after downloading the first attempt... I can make more attempts reasonably/safely without going over my allotment with 1.5gb download to patch the current disc then with the full download.giskard wrote:To be honest why they include disks in the box version when they end up downloading from steam anyway is a mystery to me.
It's 12:00 midday GMT.Nomadski wrote:Its a midnight release for someone...BKTiel wrote:Wait, wot? It's not a midnight release?
o-O

Or you could create a Steam backup and have the most current files available to reinstall immediately.Whoozy wrote:If I have to reinstall for whatever reason at a later date, or the hard drive failed at a later date, all the time it would save me by having the disc too even if it's only going to keep only a portion of the data say with revision 1.xx it's less I have to download, more chances of successes within a month's data allotment.
Will there be a boxed version that will include the 1.5gb data at a later time, if so when would it be available?CBJ wrote: • Notice to those who have bought the DVD but who cannot, or do not wish to, pre-load the game directly from Steam:
Once the game is released the Steam client will need to download and add approximately 1.5GB of data in addition to what is on the DVD before you can play. Again, this additional data consists mainly of videos and voice recordings which were not ready at the time the DVD was manufactured. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

This is VERY unlikely since Steam is a requirement to play. If you don't register your game with Steam, you can't play, and when you DO register it on Steam, it will automatically update with whatever data it needs.
This is the 'future' people, we are years ahead now from the old days of patches having to arrive in the post on 10 floppy discs (thank God)
