That's sound if you fix the DiD problems (many and numerous) but your only 12 how can Rebirth get any work if your updating Prelude? Although the story was never explained so hopefully it will now?

very good news indeed i love this game.

Can someone tell me if a new campaign must be started? my actual is argon

will this update change the game if you are an Argon?

all my savegames are ..well saved on a pen so i can start again play and and then start a new game all over again and do something different so no problem as long as savegames are compatible

one thing i hope is that Egosoft put different campaigns on different savegame dirs or prefix it on rebirth so we could play as a pirate or a argon or whatever and don’t care about savegames overwrite each other.

Funny thing is I'm writing my own DiD story with the same direction as this plot. Sent behind enemy lines after signing a ceasefire with the Teladi in return for helping then with their Xenon problems.

Its been hard with so much of the Terran economy and gameplay neutered compared to the Commonwealth

Can we please have a no-Steam exe? I know Egosoft said it wouldnt be a priority but since it is likely to be the final version of this game I think it would be great if Egosoft released a Steam free exe for those of us that dont want that crap on our computer.

The NoSteam.exe provided in the Downloads section can be used with the latest version of X3AP. Only problems might occur, if you want to play the game in Chinese.

Alright, thanks for the reply, it said 2.0 so I thought it only worked for that version of the game.

How do I go through the update process? Do I have to re install everything, have Steam download the updates and then replace the exe or is there another way?

I believe AP was never meant to be any but a lead in to the new game. Since they are still explaining why people went nuts and started a genicidal war, then the new game isnt nearly ready yet. If this is the new 2.5 update, still explaining what happened to end Argon and the Commonwealth, then you got another year to go, sit back and relax.The new game wont be out until they fully explain why the old universe had to end and this might not even be the end of that discussion.

Right, this is exactly what X3AP is supposed to be: a bridge between X3TC and X Rebirth. A quote from the pre-release announcement:

Egosoft is pleased to announce X3: Albion Prelude, which provides a welcome bridge from the X Universe we know and love to the X Universe that will be experienced in X Rebirth.

And another one from the release announcement:

QUESTION, really important one at that...

Actual PATCH NOTES? Didnt find any.

Will this be simply a new plot OR will there also be new toys to play with?

And most importantly, will there be any gameplay-changes? There are still MANY issues and game-breaking bugs:
- Fighter AI is broken, kamikazi-frenzy
- M6 AI wont use full turning-rates, kamikazis, etc
- Emergency Jump simply DOES NOT WORK

While i love seeing this game getting new content, i would like to see the old one fixed too.

Using carriers is impossible cause fighters crash into capital-ships or some stations and lack any AI in evasive manuevers.
M6 ships tend to crash into things and seem to be unable to their full turning-rates making them "wierd" in AI hands.
Using multible capital-ships is nearly impossible cause the emergency-jump feature doesnt work, at all.

I seriously want to get back to this game but these issues leave me with rather limited gameplay-options.

I understand that, I was asking how am I supposed to patch the game since the FAQ clearly says

If you are using the NoSteam executable you won't be able to:

Patch your game – Patches are only provided through Steam

Play in "Dead-is-Dead" mode

Get Steam achievements

Use any other Steam online function

last update,I just copied the TC folder from Steam and installed the non-steam patch.
This worked.
Hopefully it will work with 2.5,but not sure yet.

Well, if you want to remove Steam from your computer completely, then your description in your previous post is the way to do it. If you don't want to remove Steam, you simply start the Steam client and let it patch X3AP, when there is a new update available.

OOS attacks on assets might well stay the same, or get worse in the new game. If the major powers have fallen and we are left alone to start again, pirates will control even more areas. The enemys we had that survived will be doing the same as us, fighting for survival, with revenge on their minds. While its a pain to have every ship you own destroyed in a war sector even though no enemys were there a second before you went through a gate, thats the kind of sneaky hit and run tactics that will happen. If you put station in a war sector thats your fault, knowing whats coming.

I don't know how Steam works (I caved last week, installed steam and bought the X-superbox) but can SOON mean that the patch is finished, uploaded but not released by Steam yet? That will take some time, I presume?

BTW, can the AP - plot be started no matter the race you play? As long as you have the Argon rank Accepted Advisor? Does the same apply for the new 2.5 - plot, or do I have to restart as a Terran?
