Everyone take a chill pill now. =P

Did Egosoft suddenly take your TC away because of this? I don't think so.

It's a single sector that is in no way required to play TC.

TC has been out for almost 3 years now. That's ancient for a computer game!
In order to generate news / interest / hype you need to add something new, however trivial it may be on a gameplay scale.
If some gamer kid somehow feels entitled to get everything TC-related for free... *shrug*. Too bad.

If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say that there will be several small bonus content additions when we get closer to Rebirth's release date.
A new mission, a new ship... no major manpower investment but enough to generate a constant trickle of "news" across ze internetz and get people interested or re-interested in the franchise.
If they end up curious enough to buy TC before Rebirth comes out... extra ball! =)

According to this, there will be actually a plot (nº14) involved in discovery of the sector, not just you load the game and there it is. The director file for this plot is missing, though.
But wouldn't the sector be there on the sectormap (if you cheat your way into seeing it with for example sattelites)? Just like you can see Aldrin and other plot related sectors before doing the plot? I can understand if you can't visit it through gates untill some mission director stuff of course.

I ran Scorp's script on my save game to export my universe, and it didn't detect anything above Elysium of Light
Fast sector selection on the Universe Map | Rock locations for Mobile/OOS mining | Botting for max speed Hyperion | Complete list of ship sources | Capturing smaller ships

My current ship collection:
11 out of 11 *retired* ships found
17 out of 17 *unique* ships found
9 out of 9 *limited* ships found
16 out of 16 *rare* ships found

Calling people kids is not a very good way to get people to chill, especially since some that aren't all too happy about it are quite likely older than you are.

it's not showing them as counting towards the summer camp because, uh, neither of them actually count (not today at least*) - you need to get the achievements for the games listed under "Camp Activities" - presently they are for BIT.TRIP.BEAT, Dawn of War II: Retribution, Lead & Gold, and a few others.

* the summery names of the two new achievements are a fair indication that they will probably be part of the competition at some point - which would indicate that you might be able to earn the DLC entirely within TC, if you also use the ticket you get for joining the competition.

So, those of us that run a modded game are forbidden of playing in the competition because of the mod mark or some of us don't have the cash to buy the other games. That correct?

I'm sure someone will do a mod for it... I hope.

My guess is he thonks that way in case he "could" earn his tickets with the new achievments in X3TC, which we don't know yet. And I dout anyway taht you could earn more than 1 ticket per game.
SCUM : They may exceed you in number, but not in value.

I don't have the money to play Dawn of War. Also I never said that playing X3 was stopping me of playing it.

No, it's not correct. You can always save your modded files (and saves), let steam update your installation and play then an unmodified installation with new saves to take part in Steam's Summer Camp Prize booth.

Ok, DoW was an example, there are other games, possible 60 more if they add 6 new ones each day.

You said that modding TC was "forbidding" you from entering the competition/earning tickets:

If you look carefully you can claim your first ticket without buying anything. Just join the summer camp...

I don't see how modding would prevent you from earning the tickets unless they promote an X3:TC achievement as a way to earn a ticket.

I just noticed that Steam updated Total War: Shogun 2 - it now has a new & summer-themed achievement, so that's another likely candidate.

Yip, thats what I do. I got one for modding and another someplace that is Vannila. Think I lost that one though since it was on the computer that crashed.

Dan - It is my understanding that I had to have achievements to get the sector. And the Achievements are disabled if you have a modded tag. Hench why I believe I cant do this as I don't own any of the june 30 games on the list and I have no intention of buying a game just to get a DLC for another.
