I agree with a lot of the comments, too many to quote.
It does seem to be blown out of proportion, but it's also not that unusual due to very nature of online forums:
- people write things with a certain tone of voice in mind (hence emoticons)
- people read things imagining a certain of voice
Unfortunately these two don't always coincide.
It's the obligation of both readers and writers to use a minimum level of care and open-mindedness about what they write and how they interpret other people's messages.
It's also about not getting too out of whack with the overall tone of a forum (something I'm doing with this old monologue
) in order to avoid misunderstandings.
It seems that in some cases people have forgotten this.
A lot of us will enjoy, and healthily criticise, both games and let's hope we can happily participate in both forums as we wish.
I'd say we all owe a pint to those who've gone to TLR to try and sort this out, and our understanding to people who have had well-intentioned debate misinterpreted.
P.S. I don't who's had bad experiences here in the past, but so far mine has been great for a Noob, split-splat, hept-blasted rookie
