Three or four hours, but it has lots of replay value, because there are lots of ways to complete the puzzles, and plenty of third party levels.Winter Dragon wrote:Uh Oh, short? Is this worth 1/3 of my next month's data cap?
So my boy says, as I said I have yet to complete it.

Half life 2 itself I think, but buying the orange box pack is better value.esd wrote:Alas the source SDK isn't included, so free users can't make maps (pity, "level designer" on the download page was one of the clinchers).
So the question is, which is the cheapest way to get the source SDK on Steam...?

It'll be free forever and ever and ever.Vitez wrote:I don't get it:
If I download Portal from Steam NOW (before the 24th of may), then it'll be mine for ever for free even after that specific date? Or will it shut down at the 24th and ask me for my money?

thing is... it doesn't work like a store, its more of a middleman and it's up to each company to set its own prices. I'd imagine many companies have an agreement not to undercut the RRPesd wrote:Wow... just been looking at their store - they're charging full-whack for some of those games. I can get them far cheaper from the shops in town!
SupCom2, £29.99? It's £19.99 on disk in Gamestation in town. Dirt2? That's £15! Braid, £6.99, that's a fiver on XBL!
Talk about a rip-off!

I tried it for the first time last night and much to my son's amusement (he's an old hand at it apparently) I ended up with the game saving a checkpoint just as I fell into some water. Result? and endless loop of me reviving and dying and being forced to admit I suck at everything except Civ and X3. I'll give it another go later.

The 5 indie game pack looks pretty decent too, contains both World of Goo and Machinarium. Also the new Sam & Max season and Tales of Monkey Island for £20. Where steam really takes the biscuit is the price for the COD games, £40 from release until its nearly bargain bucket in other places.
Any chance I could have an invite to the group too? Profile here if you have trouble finding the right one...

Of course. That name rings no bell. Why should it?Java Jawa wrote:Are there seriously people who haven't played Portal?
And "free"? Went to the Steam site and saw text "strings attached". That is not free. Far from it. Open source software is not truly "free" either. It might be "free of charge" and "free to use, modify, and redistribute", but there is always some hidden cost. For example, take a Windows user and give him OpenSolaris. Some learning will be required.

Its amazing how much people can complain about something that costs nothing.jlehtone wrote:Of course. That name rings no bell. Why should it?Java Jawa wrote:Are there seriously people who haven't played Portal?
