1. I don't understand? Sorry.
2. 5 mining ships and a mobile miner? Mobile Miners are just like any other TL. Infact their stats are identical to a Mammoth, they hold no special properties to do with mining. If that didn't answer it rephrase...

750x4 = 3000, the basic Mercury cargo bay. Tankers - there are two sizes. 16M = 2000 units of Nividium or about 8K cargo space. The largest tanker has a cargo space of 9500 fully upgraded, 7600 unupgraded. So 16M is about right.
PS: Did some basic cost calculations and that Dolphin Tanker costs you about 90 credits per cargo unit compared to the basic Dolphin/Mercury/Demeter costing 62. I know it is a bit immaterial but if you want to get the max cash return the Mercury and other basic ships are more efficient. I know, sad but I did whip up a spreadsheet to work this all out!! Most efficient ship by a long way is the Mercury Hauler.

Think it is navigation mk1 software that gives you move to position (there is no special mk 2). Otherwise it is a basic navigation command.
Mobile miners (the command) can't be used on Nividium, only the collect rocks command. The Mobile Mining Base ship is just a normal TL, does nothing magic when mining.

The move to position not needed to install any software. Just choose the ship and press C or shift+C to access your personal ship command, pick Navigation>Move to position... pick any sector you want to move, then move the cursor with numpad. It will change the x and z axis.
To change 'y' axis, press insert or click the '+' above the sector map. Then move the cursor to the coordinate you want.
Coordinate located below sector map.

i do think its better to use freighters than a TL as the freighters will fill up quicker.
I have sent off another 10 mercury as i have spent 130 million credits on a complex and i need credits to keep my traders ticking over ( Plus i want a big bad ship to go kill some xenon )

ok guall me an idiot but im still having trouble.
My mercury isnt flying to position. i need a dumbed down guisde on how to do that. at the mo it will only "move to position" of another object.
2 i cannot get my "scout" octopus to scan asteroids in sector. (possibly an errow on my part.
Please help its really bugging me.

1) Click move to position. Use the cursor keys to highlight any object near where you want to go. Then use the Numberpad keys to move the crosshairs to exactly where you want to be. Press enter. Off it goes!
2) Has it got explorer software and a mineral scanner? Under Navigation there should be a Scan Asteroids option - then select one and off it goes.

Ok so finnaly after several minuites of tedious work (and a fair bit of swearing) i get relativly close to sed astoroide. (about within 25 of it) onyl to find myself in a cluster with no obvious as to weather ist ore or nividium. im reluctant to shoot too much as i dont want to kill too much nividium. so any tips?
( i got the zenon hub start here too so im quite happy)

If you have a mineral scanner installed then click the target icon in the menu to the left (the + like sign). It will pop up a small info window with the mineral type in it. You will have to shoot up most of the rocks around you to get them down to the smallest size they can be broken into so that ships can pick them up. Either look around for the smallest rock and shoot anything bigger or shoot any rock until it blows up - and stop a bit earlier for all the others!
Personally I would then drop a satellite and get out of the sector. Then order a TS to fly to the satellite (no collisions out of sector) and start to collect rocks (it will need ore collector and special command s/ware for this).

For smaller asteroids that isn't indicated on the map, you can center the asteroids in your target reticle and hit "t" to target it and then "i" to identify what type it is. Just move to the position the OP mentioned and identify the closest asteroids. Then blow them up, drop a satellite and order your TS to move to your satellite then collect rocks. I'm not sure if it makes any difference but I get out of the sector once I drop the satellite as collecting rocks seem to be more efficient when I'm not in the sector.
Just for convenience, I let my TS dock at the shipyard, buy a small dolphin hauler, transfer the nvidium and sell the dolphin hauler. Then back to work.

Theres no need to blow up any rocks, just drop the sat at the coordinates provided by Kryten and tell all your freighters to move to the position, then give command collect rocks in sector.Venutian wrote:For smaller asteroids that isn't indicated on the map, you can center the asteroids in your target reticle and hit "t" to target it and then "i" to identify what type it is. Also as kryten says, use the mercuries from argon prime as they are cheapest and you recoup 80-90% on resale depending on rank
In sector mining is a lot slower as collisions have to be taken into account your ships would also need better shielding as they crash a lot if there are many in the same area

I have tried this and it indeed works! I sent 20 mercuries to kingdoms end, each with a transporter device, and asked them to collect nividium that I have broken with mosquito missile. Then I ordered a dolphin at the boron shipyard and ask the dolphin to move to the vicinity of my mercuries. Since all mercuries have transporter device, I can ask them to transfer nividium to the dolphin without stopping the mining process. When the dolphin is full, just move it back to the boron shipyard and sell it, then buy a new dolphin and ask it to move to the mining site.
All these were done remotely out of sector. With help of seta I can make millions within ten minutes.

I've been trying this for about 8 hours now. Had a couple o Caiman's working on it and now all they're filling up on is Ore. I've dipped back into the sector and had a good look around the co-ords but can't find any Nv rocks. Guess they don't respawn all of the time eh?
Frustrated!!
Got 1 full load on a mercury for 8M but only 147 units after that and that was 5 hours ago
I believe that forgiving them is God's function. Our job is simply to arrange the meeting

The basic Mercury and the Mercury Tanker are the most efficient ships for this in all the X universe. The Mercury Hauler has double space of the basic Mercury, 6000 vs. 3000 but costs more than twice as much and is therefore less profitable.maphys wrote:PS: Did some basic cost calculations and that Dolphin Tanker costs you about 90 credits per cargo unit compared to the basic Dolphin/Mercury/Demeter costing 62.
