The Trade Command Software MK3 ist part of the game since version 1.0. It has been improved since. It is made by egosoft scripters (which are also people, who would qualify as "someone else" in a lot of situations). The "trader log" is an additional thing that you can download optionally. It creates the data in the game, but can only be accessed from outside the game.Jack Slinger wrote:Wait a minuite I am very lost!
OK first does all this come atoumaticly with the 2.1 patch I have installed or do I have to do it sepratly?
Is this made by egosoft or someone else?
Are the things like the trader log acsessable while playing the game?

I can't say I read all the posts in this thread but I tried a keyword search and didn't find anything that answers my question, which is: How do you know when a UT Pilot is taking a Training Course? Does his "Current Order" change to something noticeable or does it just say "Standby"? Also how long do these courses take? The "Standby" status is ticking me off since I'm almost positive there has to be SOMETHING in my discovered universe to trade... is he still off at the bars and pubs as the datasheet mentions?

Well I have a ship with nearly all upgrades set up as a local trader (1), the problem is that after every single run he sends me a message I never recieve (the system says incoming message but there's nothign there) and he stops the command. How do you get the local trader to keep trading rather than just do one trade and then sit there with his thumb up his rear end?

You don't, but it doesn't take any time.beach07 wrote:IHow do you know when a UT Pilot is taking a Training Course?
If your guy is on standby, it's because he can't find a trade. Their courses are (I think) instant.

I have been trying to get the logfile to work in Windows 7, I have run CMD as an admin to start the bat file, but when i do a create stats and look at the xml file there is no info about my Uni trade at all. I know it has earned me money while the bat apparently should be running.
I have placed the folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\EGOSOFT\X3 Terran Conflict\trader\
any idea what I am doing wrong?
Thank you in advance
Tass

I too have been trying to get it to run in Windows 7 (64bit)
I have tried manually running through the steps as administrator, I have carefully checked all the bat files in notepad looking for anything out of place. When I run logging_on.bat, the CMD prompt screen flashes on and does it's thing, but no log file is made in either C:\Users\Username\Documents\Egosoft\X3TC, or neither does create_stats.bat.
However, I noticed that at least under windows 7, they no longer use "My Documents if you look under the direct link, but instead, in my case it's
"C:\Users\Jason\Documents\Egosoft"
I don't have XP installed on anything to check against. I am not sure if this is part of the issue as in "create_stats.bat" it lists is as "My Documents". If you search for "My documents" in the start menu it sends you to "Documents". I am wondering if this might be a conflict within "plugin.autotrade.logging.pck" itself. This particular problem is a little beyond my pay grade. I have followed all previous suggestions (including duplicate info from the other thread that merged with this one). X3TC Vanilla, currently 2.1. Any help? Would love to use this feature.

It Wasn't Above my Pay Grade!
I figured it out. I figured out how to get the logging to work in Windows 7 (64).
It was essentially a permission's issue. You need to go into
C:\Program Files (x86)\EGOSOFT\X3 Terran Conflict\scripts
C:\Program Files (x86)\EGOSOFT\X3 Terran Conflict\trader
C:\Program Files (x86)\EGOSOFT\X3 Terran Conflict\trader\files
And give them
Right click (anywhere in folder) > Properties > Security (tab) > Users (Yournamehere\Users)
Advanced > Permissions (tab) > (Yournamehere\Users) >Change Permissions... > Users (Yournamehere\Users) > Edit... > Full Control
OK/Apply out of all windows.
You need to do this for all 3 folders as the .bat files call on all 3 at different points to create/read/write in the process of doing their thing. If the permissions aren't assigned before hand the OS protects the system by denying write privileges.
After this is all done go ahead and run through the steps in the OP one more time, it worked for me.
For those of you who are curious, and I would strongly reccomend these for Scripts/Mods people, I figured all this out using
Process Explorer v12.04
and
Process Monitor v2.91
From Microsoft Technet (official MS Site for those of you who never heard of it).
I use them when fixing comps and the process monitor especially is invaluable in finding out what is doing what as it's a real time accounting of every single thing that is happening in your comp at the time it is happening. Also used it to find/fix what was causing intermittent freezing in my games on occasion, (it was Windows indexer, f-ing thing).
Anyway, hope this helps at least some.

Yay!With the X3TC update 2.1 we released a new version of the sector- and universe trader. Apart from fixing code problems we also included new features, such as the ability to use M6 class ships and a completely new ware selection algorithm for small jumpranges.
But there's more: There are two new features just for the community: For one, there's the X3TC trading log which logs all transactions and profits of your trading fleet. And there's the Technical Datasheet for the Trade Command Software MK3.
