Exactly. And now we're going to get 2.0 when we were told we would. It's to Egosoft's credit that, when they found out that retailers were selling 2.0 before they were supposed to, they responded by making the DVD-version update available early, but I'm not terribly put out that it hasn't been possible for the Steam update to also be moved up.
For that matter, sometimes there are reasons to not update ASAP. When the 1.4 patch came out, I ran Steam in offline mode for a while so I could get in a few more patrol missions with the old payouts.
they had TC by the day of release, OF COURSE they would. (money bitches as they are) you think they did this because they are cool and nice guys? NO there was money to be made.
we are not talking here of issues of the past, and if they did it right at that time or not. we are talking here about the patching process., thats two different things. steam has been failing at this at every patch. tomorrow they will ran out of the people supporting the valid excuse about the retailers. we wait and see.
in my opinion we should MASS complain in Steam forums (x2-x3 forums ) and also in general (if they had one) i will do so tomorrow. and trust me i am not going to be nice.
You know what?..It's nice to see some great mature responses from the US guys here. You should take a look on the TF2 or L4D boards whenever they get a patch that's late or don't like. Absolutely terrible behaviour. Just goes to show that X players are a little more grown up. Thumbs up!
And I'm a limey living in the States, so I have to wait as well...but lets face it...The English are champions at queuing

And acting 'posh'
And losing in football(soccer for all the americans) but thats off topic
I get to be mature all day, I dont know you so unfortunately you get to deal with my inner child while i'm gaming
Hang on not all of us English guys are impatient, and most of us are decent bloks... i can wait just gives me time to acumulate a good size bank account and finish some story lines. Figured id hit 400 mill creds before the patch hit that way i can buy some of the new goodies. Still having some issues caping/capturing bigger ships though. tried to capture a zenon k with a pod and for some reason when my marines got to the ship they couldin't get through the hull, would that be due to undertrained marines?
"THE EARTH IS THE CRADLE OF HUMANKIND,BUT ONE CANNOT LIVE IN THE CRADLE FOREVER"
I don't know what's up with all this Steam bashing. It's an update that's less than a week late (because of an advanced released schedule), and it's only ONE update. They had the actual game out a few days before expected.
And I don't know about their money grabiness. They charge one initial fee, and that's it. All game updates, patches, etc are free after that. It's no different than other game publishers/developers. Valve is a lot more in touch with it's players than other companies are - I really don't know that many other game developers that listen and report to their players as much, or release updates like they do (for example, every new update pack for TF2 adds another playing level). Of course, Egosoft is one of the companies that also excels in this.
So you have to wait a bit. You've still got the game. Play it for a few more days, then enjoy the patch when it does come out. There's no sense in being immature about it.

No reply on the football comment? Im shocked! No you guys are a decent bunch. I just have to throw a few fist-a-cuffs into the mix now and then. You know like those rappers, Keepin' it real. hahahahaha
Edit: And yes, train up those marines! And send me those victorious K klobbering pics
I actually look at it in a positive light. By the time I get the patch through Steam, all my favourite mods and scripts will be checked and updated to run properly under V2. If it's late, I'll have them all downloaded and ready to install once the patch is here.

I could see how putting the noun xenon in front of terraforming would make you think that, but the meaning of the word lies within the word itself. Xenon no longer 'terraform' they xenoform (or some other clever prefix of their new homeworld)

seems that the slackers could get off their arses and update X:tc now don't ya think
You know your list is a little silly. All you did was show that valve updates their games very often, you have no idea how long the time between patch completion, and patch deployment is.
For all the people who say they got ripped off, steam is crap, ect. you paid for a game, you got a game.
Most businesses aren't open weekends if they don't have to be. Why should steam be any different. every other weekend they weren't open hasn't effected you one iota (please don't bother with the personal anecdotes like "i have COD 4 and blah blah blah me mad" the statement holds true for X3TC, and most of the time, most other games.)
Btw i have the steam version, and would be thrilled to have the patch, and have even been waiting on it with baited breath. I am not however, unlike some others, endowed with a severe lack of patience the likes of which would make a five year old with ADD look like a Monk.
To those of you complaining about Steam I suggest you go look at an alternative, such as EA download manager where they would have you pay for every god forsaken download or everything they can. And to boot, their service is flat out the worst in the busisness.
Yeah, I bought a game off of EA download manager, and they want me to PAY for them to keep a record that I bought it, incase I need to re-download it in the future. That right there is @#$$ poor service, and infact probably boarderline illegal.
I'll take steam anyday.
AMD FX 8core 8150 4.5ghz(overclocked)4x8gb ram, ATI Crossfire Radeon 7850HD x2. Sabertooth 990fx mobo
Yes Steam updates allot of valve games, it is their baby. It also updates other games by other Devs. As to your point, those valve updates is are probably scheduled a month or months in advance in advance.
Check the dates. There are very few days when something isn't being updated. The point is that they are working hard IMHO or atleast the techs have a heavy workload.
I think steam is grand. No more broken or lost disks. A huge playerbase to find like minded gamers, ect ect.
Maybe my problem was using Sarcasm to get my point across. So I'll try again. The update will come when it comes. Biching and moaning wont make it appear any faster.

Indeed there are worse alternatives, their just not the ones pissing everyone off right now I bought spore from the EA thing and I about **** myself seeing that 5.95 insurance thing. Yeah EA would definately be classed as money hungry much faster than steam (commenting on a comment made earlier) Their expansion packs that dont include any gameplay content that they charge 20 bucks for. Damn I love Egosoft.
You can chit chat all day, week, month year about how most companies dont work on weekends, and thats fine for steam its their decision. Its also peak gaming hours and probably when most of their bandwidth is used. The people working there probably receive a salary, and its not much to remote in, download a file, upload a file, create a page copy over all the tables and ads that they use and post a link with a short desc. With their servers Id say 10 - 20 minutes including the page.
My old lady when shes sick can do alot of work at home remoting into the servers at work, and using 3rd party programs to log on to co-workers computers to fix, alter, or whatever she need do. I guess when i see a simple solution not time consuming being the kind of worker I am, I get frustrated to see people not putting out that extra .05% of effort. Just my 2 cents.
