I've buzzed around my biggest complex, and I would have to say there is a massive improvement in FPS. Tested in battle I was getting hammered by IBL fire and I didn't notice any lag at all. I'm over the moon. My PC's stats are borderline the minimum spec for running the game too.
Do you mind sharing what your FPS were and what you PC spec are? I would be interesting in knowing.

Similar system to yours. 3.4 P4, HD 4650 gfx, 2gig ram, Audigy soundcard. The rig has been set up as the stickies in the tech support forum, and is defragged regularly. No other games set up on it; in fact there is little else on that rig. I've no idea what the FPS was, but it wasn't brilliant - I'd hazard a guess at about 10FPS in ore belt, and thats with some settings turned down. Since I updated to 2.0a I'd been able to actually fight where my complex' were without much lag (maybe the odd judder, but even they were rare.) Unfortunately, I asked a friend to sort out a couple of problems I've had with the PC; I left him unattended, and now I have no saved games. I'd just got to a point where I was happy with what I'd set up too.

I took one mission and flew 3 gates, on the third gate, it crashed. First X3 crash ever.
Maybe the devs added a few bugs in 2.0...

Yep,I got a nice little CTD myself couple of minutes ago. This didn't happen before the patch 2.0a. It was in Aldrin2 sector right in the middle of big fight with Xenon fleet (couple of Js, Ks and countless Ls,Ms and Ns). I'm not liking this...

Not better for me, I would even say a bit worse, although with the pci-latency tweak recently found on tech support forum it really improved the game and made it playable and also enjoyable in fighting as well as in normal playing with no jitter at all.
