Beta Testing...any advice?
Like many here,I have just gained User- level 3 clearance, simply out of curiosity concerning the beta vs 2 in above anouncements.
However, although it opens up a new dimension for me, I would like any additional advice not found in the stickys.
Such things as what to look for when testing etc.
I am in the process of downloading the beta version.
Thanks in advance.

There doesn't appear to be any problem with your account settings. You show up as L3 and have all the right access. If the link works then I think you might just be overlooking the DevNet forums in the forum index page.TBV wrote:I'm not having any joy either. I've filled out name and address, logged out,
deleted all cookies, logged back in again and I can't see L3 in my profile or
see any DevNet forums. The posted link seems ok, but the rest would be nice too.
There is information in the sticky threads about what has changed. These are obviously the main things to test, but if you are aware of other problems then feel free to test these too. As for what constitutes a problem, that's usually fairly obvious: crashes would be the worst case, but most errors just involve the incorrect display of objects or text, inconsistencies and so on. If you're in any way unsure about anything then feel free to ask in the beta testing forum.TTD wrote:I would like any additional advice not found in the stickys.

So wouldn't it be possible to convert into a steam version beta, and have the beta accessable if you etherpjknibbs wrote:The beta patch includes the DVD copy protection, so if you installed it on the Steam version you wouldn't be able to play it anyway thanks to not having a DVD of the game.
a. added a special beta key in as a game registration
or
b. added it in a steam beta program, like they occasionally do with steam beta clients

How about posting a link where us steam users can get a manual ?
There's a chance, good one, I'll get a boxed version if I can find one. I like having manuals, boxes, etc. for games, esp. if they're good ones
I'll have to see if I can't find the Egosoft Gifting Fairy, I've heard she hangs out with Robin Hood and Peter Pan, but I've never seen them.

You don't need a link. Just right click on the game in the Steam client and choose "View Player Manual".Mustikos wrote:How about posting a link where us steam users can get a manual ?
If you mean a paper manual then you are probably out of luck. Egosoft isn't involved in printing manuals, so doesn't have copies lying about, and the publishers probably don't either because whoever they book to do the printing and packaging presumably just prints enough for the boxed copies.
Either way, this is very off-topic for this thread.

No, there won't be, because you've not signed up for DevNet in your ForumProfile and are therefore still L1.JESS 246 wrote: Well on my index page theres no L3 stuff at all.

It's actually something the publishers have to let Egosoft do. And judging from past games, it doesn't happen until the game's been out closer to a year.
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.
