I think OWPs are more like lasertowers than ships. I'm not absolutely sure about that, but I have noticed lasertowers are off-and-on functional in or OOS.madssimono wrote:Hey guys.

Not much help I know, but I'm sure someone is at least a little familiar with that problem.
To other responses:
My thought was to make the OWP a ST-sized ware purchasable at Military Outposts and deployable like a lasertower from a TL. Made the most sense to me.
I don't like the idea of buying it at a shipyard and jumping it to a gate and I know for a fact that these things can't have any velocity.
I've watched one bouncing off a Military Outpost trying to get out of collision range on AI Autopilot. That was quite funny to see but just gave me the idea that it was also totally non-functional.
Also in my experience you cannot dock at these things. It may say they have docking availability but I transferred ownership on one and couldn't dock at it. I think I was in an M3 at the time. The option just wasn't available.
Would be nice if you could. Also, it would be nice if you could install Software to improve these things and give the option of having Marines on board and the ability to repel boarding parties/board them.
Still, interesting idea. If Fuds working on it, I'll have to have a look later and see what he comes up with.

The only way to know sometimes is to try it, either way it would be interesting to find out. If it could be reverse engineered and built by the player hq, or sold as plans that you could build your self that would also be cool for some. You would have to start from a game that already had the hq (I know there is a name you can give your pilot to make the script work) or use a mod that made the hq buy able somewhere as a station to build.
Can player controlled weapon platforms be piloted by the player so they can make use of the docking computer to get an instant dock with the player hq to see if it can be reverse engineered? Thats another interesting thing to try.
Added a bit latter: I wonder if its also possible to edit the weapon platforms so they come standard with a jump drive as this would make moving them more easy?
