I still think that is could be a good thing for X2. The worse FL is, the more likely people will seek an alternative. Maybe this time, Egosoft will hit the big-time...

Well i've been talking it up on the FL board.

Where FL will beat x2, I'm pretty sure, is in the depth and complexity of the universe. It's bigger and looks like having a lot more going on leaving more scope for truly being able to play as a pirate, miner or bounty hunter etc.

But no radar, no workable first person? These alone puts it into second place for me.

Where X2 must not fall down is in quality. If X2 comes out in the same state as XT did originally then it won't pick up sales from disappointed FL purchasers because there'll be too much bad word of mouth. When x2 finally goes into beta testing it needs to do a damn good job.

As for selling, X2 will sell properly providing it has deasent advertising. As for distribution, the same goes. Or people will be forced to the indignity of paying high prices for the game by bidding for it on places such as Ebay, where undoubtedly they will end up paying more for the second hand game rather than the new game.

If THQ do take those rains again, then they had better do a good job. But, the question there is, will we expect them to?

It's all well and good getting a game up to scratch. Yes indeed that's important, nobody can deny that. But, appropriate marketing and distribution and availability is equally important. Don't take this the wrong way, but people shouldn't of had to purchase the German version and then patch it to English and even then were they garanteed everything in English?

Well, have probably said it before, but no matter how good X2 is and I think it will be fantastic from what have read and if Xt is anything to go by. But, if THQ do take the rains again, then I can't see it doing anny more good than Xt did. Even with the bugs, given half a chance, it still could have sold out.

I dont think Egosoft will make the same mistake again. They must know how much sales must have been affected by the lack of advertising. THQ didn't do the game any favours and its only after word of mouth has got around that people have started to look for it. ..... only to find thats its not available.

As for the English conversion, I believe that after the large patch the game is completely modified and hence the same as the original English version.
