Go and grab one of the derelict ships, there's a thread / sticky somewhere with the locations of "unique" derelict ships, you could either use one yourself or sell for the extra money.

@ THE EDITOR The difference in combat effectiveness is the ships, a Mamba is an M3 and a more flexible combat ship then the Disco but equip the disco with several IREs and you can trade a few capped TSs or M8s (if your Lucky) for Credits and buy an M4 or M3.

Also look for pilots wanting to sell their battered ships a bit of time with your repair laser and a shipyard will give you some credits as well.

Xavier Koen's Christmas Wish

I've decided I would like to arrest 6 Yaki for The Brig Incident. Since the individuals involved have previously been punished I'm going to arrest at random 6 other Yaki Pirates. If I also kill a few other Yaki in the process then the universe will be the better for it.

I don't think the Right Decision will be quite up to the task so I'm considering getting myself a Nova.

So along those Lines I've drawn up a Christmas List.

Capture 6 Yaki (Punshment for The Brig Incident)
7 x 25 MW Shields
1 x Nova
1 x Mass Driver
2 x TS (Not a Priority)

If this is just part of the fiction, fine. But the Toucan Hauler is a TP and has a built-in Life Support. I don't think it can be destroyed without destroying the ship. And even if it could, you could always buy one and stick it in. Why 'decommission' it? :?

Great story this. Definitely the best of the stories that followed the lead of NUKLEAR-SLUG and Squiddy McSquid. Keep up the good work!
This signature is here because it makes my posts look longer and therefore makes me seem like I know what I am talking about - which I do, honest! For example, the Ray is the best M2 and a Falcon always beats the other M3s, see!

Hey, now that TC is out the Ray does seem to be one of the best M2's. Maybe I had better change my sig...

@Nanook The whole sequence did strike me as rather odd.

When Xavier was trying to arrest Bolo Lo The Brig Kept Circling Him. I believe it Tried to "Collect Astronaut" but was unable to for lack of "Life Support" although it did break the thrusters on the Space Suit(I know it Had one) so I assume it got damaged like any other normal extension despite it being a "Built In Component"

As Xavier did not know where to buy Life Support Extensions (And It wasn't worth travelling to the other end of the universe) his only option was to buy another TP and he needed extra credits for that so The Brig was Sold Unfornuately and New Brig and Unclaimed Goods was purchased and Collected Bolo Lo.

Of course I would rather not have done this but it happened an now Xavier has to struggle with the consequences.

Feed A Factory Fatten Your Finances

Following the Creation of the Christmas Wish List I set about using Unclaimed Goods and New Brig to supply the Ore, Energy and Meatsteaks that the Medium Shield Factory required to produce Shields of the 25MW (which I want) and 200MW variety.

Settled into a routine of keeping New Brig at the Factory and Jumping Unclaimed Goods to Solar Power Plants, Ore Mines and Cahoona Bakeries.

Assassination Attempted

Since I could do all the trading remotely I wandered up to Kingdom End Scanning Freighters at Random. Arrived at Kingdom End and relaxed at the Cocktail Lounge of the Local Trading Station.

After I'm nice and relaxed I think I should report for duty with the Boron Police Force. When I head out I notice a Combat Mission on Offer at the Trading Station.

Turns Out It's a Government Sanctioned Assassination. I don't see many of them and the bounty is roughly 12.5k so I decide to take it. The details are Toto Mo wants me to kill Tupmanckardet who stole a large sum from Kingdom End. Toto Mo isn't sure where he is but a contact of his does. Fly down to Cloudbase North-West to meet up with the contact and the villian is currently in Rolk's Drift. Head Back to Kingdom End and through to Rolks Drift.

The Computer kindly locates the target for me and I begin to close the gap. I have a slight Problem though the gap is 40Km and it seems that Tupmanckardet is already in some trouble. As he's in an M5 If he gets a bit of ventilation added to the hull Its game over for him.

Well a few moments latter it's game over for Tupmanckardet. Unfortunately this means NO Bounty for Xavier :(. However there are a few pirates raiding the Sector so I might be able to make amends.

Unsatifying Pirates

They're all M5s of some description. I attack one that is marginally faster than me at 310m/s using my IREs I hammer into it and am so successful I overfly it before killing it and another pilot claims the honor before I can come round. Right won't make that mistake again pick a slightly slower target at 286m/s get in behind and use my PACs aside from a few stray shots while trying to gauge range and vector the PACs once they find their mark make short work of the pirate. I'll make short work of the 500cr later.

Below Average is Better

The Assassination was unsatifying and unprofitable. The trading at Cloudbase South-East was not. Eventually the Medium Shield Factory produced 8 25MW shields and I purchased them all. Two are Installed on New Brig, three on Unclaimed Goods and the final three are intended for the Nova that I'll get.

Profit Opportunity is a License Opportunity

After failing to get the assassination bounty I was feeling a little unsatisfied I wandered through Boron Space and saw some profitable trade runs for Bofu in Rolks' Fate. I could capitalize on this as Unclaimed Goods was at Atreus' Clouds so I load it up and bring it over. I was able to make over 100cr per unit profit although I did need to reroute to another factory cause some trader beat me to the first.

Went down to Atreus' Clouds while I had Unclaimed Goods fitted out with a Tripex Scanner and Navigation Software. I also brought The Brig in with some energy for the jumpdrive of Unclaimed Goods

Pirates and the Boron, what's the relationship

While All My valuable assets are gathered here I noticed a Dukes' Dangerous Goods freighter. These seem to be a good opportunity to claim lost goods in Boron Space so I fly South.

When I'm in the Middle of the Sector I notice coming from the Western Gate a Pirate Barracuda and a few of his friends, two M4s and two Pirate Kestrels.

I have time to stow my other ships safely into stations and I try to slip close enough to scan without getting the wrong sort of attention from the pirates.

Well the rest of the Boron Police Force has noticed them now and wipe out the kestrels at which point I run in to take my share. Torn between targeting the M4s or the Barracuda I go for one of the M4s.

I'm focusing on the M4 in my peripheral I see the orange wave of a PBE. I break and run. but that Wave came not from the Pirates but the Police. Turned the M4 to a tiny piece of space debris. I thought fine you can have that one I'll take the next one so I scattered the atmosphere of the second M4 into the void of space.

Time for the Barracuda but when I looked for it all I found was a melted down unidentifiable piece of space junk.

Your Assets are being Transferred

Now that it was safe I gathered by resources together and transported the larger missiles to Unclaimed Goods and the Duplex Scanner to The Brig.

License for Fun

I headed for Teladi Space to do some exploring got to Spaceweed Drift when I noticed another Dukes' Dangerous Goods freighter. This one was on it way to dock with the Dream Factory. Found out it's next port of call was in Profit Share so I decided to head for the local Trade Dock an inquire about a license. Turns Out Teladi hand these out to anyone they consider as a Profit Opportunity.

I think some will regret giving this to me later.

Teladi Understand Profitssss, But Who Understands Teladi

Well following Dukes' Dangerous Goods vessels may prove to be a fruitless method of exploration. They odds of them making it to their destination or back home seem rather low. The security forces of the various races on occasion appear prepared to attack on sight even when they are not carrying goods of any kind.

I was beginning to suspect the Boron attacked them for wandering into Boron Space. But the Teladi? Those traders that take profit at every opportunity and twice if they're able to.

The Teladi Security Division began attacking a Dukes' Dangerous Goods vessel. I scoot over there and scan their victim, he has nothing onboard except a FBL for defense as the shielding been stripped.

I feel a tad uncomfortable but since Security has targeted him and I can now be considered a member of the Teladi Security Division I lend a hand. It's three on one and a race to 0 which I win with my PACs.

I guess there's a company directive on Dukes' Dangerous Goods from Chairman Ceo as I get a small reward from protecting the company from the loss of much profit. If preventing a potential trader from trading with the Teladi is the protection of Profit for the Teladi??!!

I think we need to understand Teladi better than we do.

Going for Four of A Kind

Of all the police licenses of the Commonwealth the two that I really want are the Teladi Security Division and Well as the Split ... licenses as this should allow me to begin legitimately (although the Teladi and Split may not agree with this Argon).

So I'm off to get the Split License.

This Argon want to help Split?

Head through a few sectors of Split territory looking to be as helpful as I can. I see a few missions on offer in the first sector although they're not what I'm looking for.

Pass through a few more sectors and no-one on the stations are asking for help.

Pop in to the next sector and BOOM there are requests for Assistance all over the Place. Find a Station Owner that needs his Station Defended so I sign up.

Xavier May Need a New Pair of Particle Accelerators

Just a couple of M4s and M5s are threatening the Station.

I get behind the Pirate group and send a wildfire missile to each M4. They're done Then Pick an M5. Use the IRE-PAC one-two combination I enjoy but when the computer switches to the PAC and I press down on the trigger ..... Nothing. I Press down on the trigger a few more times and still nothing.

Switch to IRE and space is filled with dozens of rounds. Turn to the PACs and space is now filled with nothing.

When All Else fails Use A Missile

The M5s shields are back up and I need a quick way to get them down switch missile types and fire the first fast missile that cycles into the tubes a mosquito. It flys off after the M5 seems to circle a few times before hitting the target.

The M5 still there and one of the other ships that are defending the station eliminate the pirate. I claim a Wildfire and a Firelance that were unused by the pirates plus the money for the mission with a 7,000 credit bonus for dispatching the M4s.

I'm taking a guess that the PACs overheated the last time I used them which was against the Dukes' Dangerous Goods vessel. I must get them inspected by a qualified technician as the computer still believes they're functional.

Split Respect Honor, Xavier Respect Credits

Well I still need quite a bit of respect before I can get the Split License. And I also need quite a bit of money before I can afford a Nova.

Some of the Split here have quite a bit of honor as well as quite a bit of money.

Accelerators Accelerating, Computer Computing

Went over to an Equipment Dock to have the Particle Accelerators inspected. Turns Out they're OK although the Split Technician performed a reprogramming of the computer for me. Allowing me immediate access to the encyclopedia as well as placing the confirm key beside the trigger.

Sell him three Firelance missiles as thanks

Earning Respect and Making Money

Asked a Return Ship for over 80k and have 3 hours. Accept and head over to were they abandoned two sectors away well easiest 80k I've made in my career.

While the Pegasus is on it's way home I find another Well paying mission the Split needs an Iguana and I have an hour. Time's Tight so I jump over to the Split shipyard and dock.

Oh dear the dealer says I can look but don't touch. I show him a thick wad of my colourful money and he tells me he can get that colour of money from dozens of others so no luck there.

Hope that Pegasus get home safe cause now I have more than 80k riding on it. Jump The Brig over with a hold full of e-cells as I may need to get out in a hurry.

The Persusas arrives I get the Money (and respect) I need. Tell the Dealer I want that Iguana and give him the wad of colourful money and he's quite happy. Transfer My Jumpdrive to the Iguana and a few e-cells.

Take Command of the Iguana. Safely undock, set Right Decision to follow and then Jump the Igauana the few sectors it needs to go. Fly as close to the station as I think I need and wait for Right Decision to catch up. Spacewalk over before transporting the Jumpdrive and e-cells into the hold. Then Tell the Iguana to dock and I hand over control to the Station.

Made a return on my money but more importantly the respect.

Thanks JoeVN09 and Demolisher2 for the comments about continuing to write up the adventures of Xavier Koen.

I started reading Nuklear-Slugs latest story http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=232789
it's written quite well. (Better Than Xaviers Logs I feel)
but I do appreciate the followers of Xavier.

Xavier the Slightly Timid Veteran

Quite pleased the the progress so far towards the Split License. Found a Patrol of Thuruk's Pride with a slot open. They must have wanted to fill it urgently cause they were offering 88,000 to any willing volunteers. I examined the Patrols' firepower and decided I was quite willing.

I went patrolling but the few enemies I did locate the rest of the patrol also located and dispatched after a few minutes and an overall light incursion into the sector (lighter even than the incursions that have come to stations that have not paid for 'security') the patrol is over.

I've been unable to eliminate any pirates (or in this instance Yaki) so I only get 17,600 credits for my time along with the increased reputation with the Split and a few missiles (especially the Wildfire that I favour) I'm quite happy with the outcome.

Decide to move on and in the next sector there's a M4/M5 mix favoring the M4s slightly. Send of Two Wildfires but they don't kill anything outright. There is one Buster without any shielding now so I send rounds of PAC Fire at him and he eventually explodes. Also gun down a Buzzard but it seems to take a bit longer to PAC up its hull.

Zone in on a Scorpion. No Real Problem with the 5MW Shield and the hull. Can't quite time my Areo Braking and as I'm forced to come round another pilot takes the 4,500 credits bonus.

Pick off the sole remaining M5 of the group and then get paid the 67,000 with 10,000 bonus.

I had near depleted my stock of Wildfires after that mission. however there are several crates of them left out in space so now I'm restocked with my favorite Interceptor missile.

A Second Day In The Life Of Xavier Koen

Well I've managed to survive another day. That's two days working for the Argon Sector Police since I signed up. I'm still alive (although several pirates are not) and several of my more immediate goals are almost achieved.

No Rest for the Wicked or Those Combating the Dangers of The Universe

After I cleaned up all those Wildfire Missiles after my latest fight with the pirates I found a Paranid who's favorite little ship had been abandoned. It must have been really special to him as he was offering nearly 84,000 for me to get it back to him. Told him to hold tight and I headed off for it. It was in the next sector although 100km south from where I entered.

Thankfully at nearly 300 m/s Right Decision can cover that in resonable time. Repair his little Harrier Hauler and tell it to fly away home. That Moneys still not mine as the Harrier has that 100km to go at just less then 100m/s it might be tight with the time remaining.

Little I can do about it now. Head to the next sector and do some exploring.

Making Bolo Lo Sqirm

Well I've killed enough pirates for the time being and I'm still needing to improve my standing with the Split so I think I'll do some trading.

I'm wanting to make use of the trading power of Unclaimed Goods but it's busy with a few trades in Argon and also Boron Space at the Moment. Then I remember New Brig can help me win favor with the Split.

I bring it in with what every Split needs bundles of e-cells and a captive Boron. Sell the e-cells and get a rather wicked idea.

Many of the Split Factories are running low on Raster Oil. Send The Brig over to Ronkars' Clouds (where there are a good number of Raster Refineries) and dock with one that has a good supply at an acceptable price. wait a few minutes before loading up and shipping out. Make a good profit and they still want more it's still at a good price so head off for another shipment.

Oh My... It's the Kha'ak

Down in Thuruk's Beard I've mapped the gates leading south and west I get a message that the Harrier has arrived and my help was appreciated. I appreciate the 84,000 that arrived in my bank account once I surrendered control of the ship.

Decide to head west to Company Pride and check on the Teladi. Find a Teladi Station owner seeking 'security' against some pirates. Although likely an easy 3,500 if the Teladi is that stingy on recruiting his own security, the Teladi can offer that to the pirates that will show up.

Head through the sector and I notice a red blip on the HUD. Bring up the Map and it's a little Kha'ak Scout. Oh their still a likely menace to the universe. Approach with some caution as there could be more of them. Closer Now an it appears to be only the one ship. This one can't actually outrun me and the PACs make short work of it.

The Saving of Much Profit

Got the Payment due to the Security License. I'm not sure how much profit I saved Chairman Ceo because there did seem to be more Kha'ak. I noticed a second bigger red blip on the HUD and when I determined it was a Kha'ak Corvette I knew I was needed somewhere else.

The next sector isn't much safer as there's three Pirate Heavy Fighters in the middle of the sector as though they own it. This leaves me with the only one sensible tactical option. To RSLG-JD*.

Suddenly I'm in Siezewell. As the jumpdrive spins down I realise Gee it was safer over in Split Space. Cross a couple of sectors to Family Whi and head for a Solar Power Plant.

Unclaimed Goods has finished trading in Boron Space so I jump it over to Split Space to do some trading.

I arrive at the Solar Power Plant and prepare for a new day.

Do Argon Have Rocks In Their Heads

Once again I'm back in Split Territory. I've been continuing to trade the last few percent of reputation that I need with the Split. The main drawback is that last few percent is 50% and trading is taking a while.

I then happen to luck upon an Argon while I'm in Family Zein that would like to know the mineral composition of the major asteroids of the sector.

The Pay is rather encouraging and since I fitted a mineral scanner to Right Decision (making good use of the speed when in a non-combat situation) I agree to the job. A few minutes later I've been paid and my Standing with my Fellow Argon has soared to 65% Federation Guardian, just for scanning a few rocks.

Now I think that if I can find a Split desperate enough to talk stellar geology (and pay me) that I might be able to gain enough standing that I could get the License from the Split.

Staring Too Intently at Rocks

Well I found one such Split that was interested in rocks. Quite Interested as he was willing to pay me nearly double what the Argon was offering if I'd go off and gather composition data from a number of rocks that had already been identified. OK not a Problem.

These rocks were scattered over three sectors so as a result I gathered a lot of new data about Split Territory. Had successfully completed the required scans in the first two sectors and then headed over to the third sector.

I passed through the gate and went to traverse the sector above the main trade lanes and asteroids when I noticed or though I noticed an unusual object. Had the Computer target it and the computer could not identify it from the database. It was an unknown object. I was approaching it as part of my sector traverse and I passed really close to it. Close enough to hear it bleep at me as we zipped passed each other.

Unfortunately this UFO was emitting an electronic jamming signal (Probably that bleeping I could hear) that prevented the flight recording system from registering the UFO.

There was no further incidents during my asteroid scanning. It did improve my standing but I need a few more percent before the Split will honour me with one of their licenses.

Xavier Koen Writes ...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Personal Log

Working for the Man (and Xavier is The Man)

Well I'm going to trade with the Split to earn that last bit of Respect as Split Honor isn't all about combat prowess.

Head towards Thuruk's Beard but In Family Ronkar I notice an offer for a Jaguar Hauler. Price 6.1k. I snap it up and the former pilot starts making the long spacewalk to Solar Power Plant alpha

Employment Under Xavier

Patch up the Jaguar and check its specs aside from it's potential speed it seems a bit useless to me, OK I'll sell it and make some cash on the sale so I send it to the Shipyard at Family Pride. find out a bit of interesting information about some of the other ships the Split will currently allow me to purchase a few interesting ones that could be useful in the future.

I locate the former pilot and see he has a long way to go. I feel sorry for buying and selling the Jaguar out from under him and I think of a fairer offer of compensation. A lifetime of employment with Xavier Koen.

Initially working as a Corrective Service Officer with a Career Path towards Military Tactics and Weapons Specialist. When I also mention some of the perks like Boron Prisoner Handling and Oversight Lut'Pst jumps aboard.

Seems to get Bolo Lo into line as he doesn't want to acknowledge he's a Boron

I continue down to Thuruk's Beard and find a Boron that Lost his ship down in Akeela's Beacon. Offers 100k to have it returned. He'll wait at the Ion Shard forge until then.

I scamper over to Akeela's Beacon and as well as locating the Boron's ship (A nicely outfitted Octopus Raider) I stumble upon an Argon Trader that wants to sell his Express Super Freighter. The price is just right for me at 75,000. The Pilot begins his long spacewalk to the Argon Trading Dock.

I offer him a career more exciting than transporting Argnu Cattle one where he can work alongside both Split and Boron. The promise of one day being the helmsman of big military style ships seals the deal for Jo Silsarna and he joins me and my small band of followers.

I then repair the Super Freighter and give it the name Moonlight One before sending it to the Argon Trading Dock to either wait for some 25MW Shields or to tune up. I've been paid for returning the Octopus so it seems I've scored a free Super Freighter

Haha quite the crew you're accumulating!
Which gets me thinking -- how long d'you think an Argon, a Boron and a Split will last -- in a chilly cargo hold with no food, drink, entertainment or toilet facilities -- without one of them ripping another's head off? I just hope Lut'Pst and Bolo Lo can be team players :P
I'd like to hear more about your merry crew of used ship salesmen as they police the universe together. Now there's a cheesy line
