It won't. If you command the Claymore to fly out of the sector, it'll fly out of its docking bay and just blithely cruise straight past the accelerator out into the region where the Torus guns will toast it. The only way I could find to get it out was to command the ship I'd arrived in (Vidar) to jump to Asteroid Belt, then fly the Claymore out manually myself.
Huh. I was in the Torus myself, doing some maintenance work to my property screen, and I had ordered the Claymore to the nearest shipyard. It flew there fine. :?

However, I HAVE lost my Vidar several times by foolishly ordering it to go to the Torus...

I just hope theres a better solution than me going back and forth across like 6 sectors :(
No, I think the people's names are Patricia Heywood and Robert Pearle. They are probably docked at a station somewhere...

It's NEVER a good idea to let a mission wait while mission critical resources are out in space...

I just did another runthrough of Mission 6 tonight, and just like the earlier mission where you get the 3 glorified fighter drones and head out on a patrol, your combat rank seems to have an effect on the #deca ships that spawn (I'm currently Warrior). It was a LOT harder this time -- I got mostly M3s and some M4. They dusted my Caiman Hauler right away, and it was fully 3x25 MJ shielded. They also mangled my Blastclaw Prototype :( so I redid the mission in my Katana (which I had to buy in order to get through the earlier patrol mission).

I got through it by xferring myself to the Katana at the very moment the tracking device was finished planting (I had my mouse pointer literally hovering over "change ship" in the menu), and then immediately ordering the Caiman to jump to the North gate. It survived, but the #deca ships turned and went after it -- I had to destroy them. That didn't bork the rest of the mission for me, though. I got my Cutlass, picked up the Split scientist and took him to the Moon base.

Manually. Practice on some other station if you've not manually docked before.

(Comm it to ask for landing permission, then fly toward the green spinning icon that appears. As you get close, reduce your speed until the flashing red indicator under your crosshairs goes away.)

I was able to do it as normal ( with Docking Computer ). Fly close, then Shift + D.

Worked for me.

Thanks I did it!

As soon as I could comm the station I asked permission to land then landing lights came on, I followed them and slowed to 10 m/s. Cruised into the dock and then it autosaved.
Then undocked flew out slowly, asked the Claymore to follow me, put seta on and flew straight back the way I came and docked at The Moon.

Mission 7

Post by mad mat »

On mission 7 when I have to board the CPU ship, I board the Scabbard and sent the marines in myself.

When that went south and they aborted, I picked up the marines and went in again, they succeeded.

Horrah!!!

It gets blown up every time.....
Any ship of yours in Earth while OOS will get blown up. YOU have Earth Access, your ships apparently don't.

Just be in sector, and it will be fine.

Creston
It looks like theres a bug in the earth system.

Any ship that launches from there tends to go a bit too far and goes into the no fly zone and gets blown up.

To get your Claymore out of the earth system, use a M5 fighter with minimal equipment and fly to earth, switch ships and fly back out again. The M5 fighter is expendable. :D

I'm up to the part where I've just rescued Patricia Heywood and Robert Pearle and dropped them off at Heretics End, two questions for you. So far, I've played the plot in the starting Sabre (maxed out on equipment though) but will I be able to continue for the remaining missions? Also, how long does it take for the next section of the plot to start? It seems to be taking quite a while and no one has contacted me yet, hmm.

Two new ways for mission five for getting in and out of Argon M148:

Both ways are the same up until you pick up the astronauts.

Auto pilot a Vulture with 200 x Teladianium to the Military outpost (it will not get attacked) with explorer command software to fly through the gate (or fly yourself through and back out) when its docked fly yourself fast (fast ship helps) to the Military outpost and dock manually then switch to the Vulture for the mission to continue and then back to your ship.

Wait for Heywood to dock and you will be given a cargo life support system and they want you to pick them up.

Way One:

Fly yourself out of the sector and have a Discoverer (you get in one of the missions or buy one) with cargo life support and special command software to pick up the astronauts (again it will not get attacked) and fly it out of the sector, then eject the astronauts out of the Discoverer and pick them up again.

Way Two:

Fly out of the sector and the patrols will fly back to the Military base and the astronauts slowly make their way to the gate (they might even go through the gate but don't know because...) then SETA a bit and go back to pick them up.

Note: The astronauts will follow the ship you was in when they got out of the station.

You probably can, though it depends a bit on your fight rank, I suppose (higher fight rank means tougher enemies). It's also very dependant on how good a pilot you are. :)

Pretty much every battle you fight from now on will be with help on your side, so if you're getting hammered just go hide for awhile. My worry with the Sabre is always that a Xenon L will murder it in ~ 4 seconds.

As for the wait, I'm not really sure what triggers it. It could even be rank related, afaik. In my first walkthrough it took quite awhile, then in my second I wasn't even out of the Terran systems before they contacted me. Check your mission screen and make sure they didn't already tell you to go somewhere.

Edit : Good tips Peter, thanks! :)

Thanks Creston! I cant remember my fight rank off by heart but I know that in station defense missions i get at least 3xM6 to deal with and I seem to be able to handle them okay in my Sabre :) . With regards to them contacting you, you don't have to be in Heretics End while you wait? Cool :) I can set up a factory or two while i wait!

Either patch to 1.2.1 or jump using the command console(jump to sector) rather then shift+J

Also you don't need to take the scabbard with you

Every report I've seen suggests that the freighter needs to be in your possession from the moment you capture it until the moment you deliver the Split scientist to the Moon. Nobody inside Egosoft has confirmed this to be the case, but there's no smoke without fire, as they say.

True it is indeed.
I had sold the TS on my way to the scientist base, docked, no mission advancement. Reload, kept the TS, mission successful.

Next, undocked, sold the TS, spent 5hrs doing random stuff, no next mission update. Reloaded the docking save, kept the TS, 2 mins later the next mission begins.

Therefore, the TS may be a key factor in the update for the final mission (vidar/aldrin thing)..

That worked great for me, thank you so much. I'll jsut have to add two small things. Use your Advanced Disco (Jumpdrive required) to fly into the M146 Sector, don't autotock in the Military outpost, just sort the ships they send to you (should be easy when you fly at 437m/s) and then request landing within 25 km of the station, fly at max speed untill you get really close then slow down and fly to the docking point. Thena fter waititng and all that as soon as you get out from the station press Shift+Jump and jump to the neaby unknown sector before you have more problems with the aptrols.

After a (good) while in SETA they'll pop out of the gate and pick them up. They come out of the gate at 250 m/s because the warp jump, so wait a bit till they slow downa nd pick them up. It's sueful to have a fighter (or Sabre) around then to escort the Freighter back home and cover you when you're picking the Astrounauts back (I've encountered Kha'ak interceptors and scouts in the way).

The mission just ends when you dock at the Orbital Defence Station at Heretic's End. No video, no talk, nothing, not even a raise in your notoriety, just so you know.

I'm Argon federation marshal and still get shot at in M148. The bridge mission in OL diesn't exist at all. Exterminator is there but offers nothing beyond the generic comm options. Guess the Terran plot is over for me. :(

I think I saw somewhere you need to complete another plot first in order to get full access to the argon military sector.

Don't remember what plot however, nor how it is triggered.
