Try running the benchmark with 2xFSAA or 0xFSAA (Anti-Aliasing). I hate to say it, but that 9500 is probably limiting you quite a bit, ESPECIALLY with 4xFSAA turned on.

Try that, let me know how it goes.

I've yet to see two tests that ran the same settings on the same processor with one ATI and one 8800?

Not sure you can draw that conclusion. :P

I'm not seeing anything unusual. The benchmarker doesn't always seem able to distinguish between the various 4800's and people are using a variety of settings, OS, and drivers.

Plus I had a friend overclock a 9600 GT and score better in benchmarks and some games than my 8800 ultra.
Until we cranked the resolution up :)

I would expect 4870's, particularly the X2's, to beat 8800's of all types simply because the whole ATI 4800 series came out much later than Nvidia's 8000 series and benefited from advances in tech during that time (such as a smaller die process among other things).

Regardless of which cards are 'better' (a major discussion on its own) these benchmarks will give us a good idea of how the current range of hardware setups are performing, and might even help Egosoft in the development of future patches :)

I would like to point out that those of you with 22" and 24" WS monitors really don't know what you are missing when you decided not to buy a 20" 1600x1200 screen. I use a 24" ws as secondary because it's just not the same :P

I thought mine would be better. I know my computer is on the lower end of gaming rigs, but still. I have not noticed that much lag in my game yet.

Hi, all--

I've noticed that turning down the texture RES down to medium makes a big difference in game playability, especially in a big firefight in any sector with large stations. In the demo results below, I've got a 25% difference in average framerate, and it's all due to "Build" and "Think".

AMD Opteron 185 @ 2.6GHz, eVGA 8800GT, 2GB RAM, MSI 7220 MB.
