I was able to complete this mission after doing the first Exterminator mission. Also I did have to deliver the 200 units of Teladianium.

Anyway I can confirm that I was offered the Exterminator mission once I got my Split rank to Comrade. My Argon rank was already Trusted Ally. Fiight rank was Instructor.

The Exterminator mission spawned 3 P's, 1 PX, 2 LX and about another 15 across L, M and N... I took down an LX, lost most of my hull doing so (I am still in the Sabre). While I was busy repairing the locals took care of the rest...

hi, I have finally been able to complete the walkabout but I’m not sure what I have done wrong or haven’t done, I docked with 200 T and wait till it said pick up the astronauts, but they just keep flying round my ship, I have cargo life support systems installed and loads of room, Mercury super freighter, so what do I do as its going to take a long time for them to reach the station?

I used the following trick:

Since the reds only attack you in the ship you are flying yourself just have a transporter bring the 200 teledianium while you hang out with the sabre (I started the game as terran and only had that ship + a transporter when i did this mission). To survive with the sabre you can simply ask the station to dock there and you do it manually but you don't dock and instead you hang out in the hangar in such a way that the door closes. All the reds flying around won't hit you at all and you can turn on seta and lean back:)

Once the 200 teledianium are delivered your are set.

Even the 2nd part in which you have to collect the astronauts is easy. Have another ship come and collect them then order it to leave the sector. It will be able to do that unharmed. Afterwards you can simply jump out or fly out. The whole thing you can do again by waiting in the hangar bay with seta running:P

I realize it can be done easier if you just do some patrol missions and buy yourself a bigger ship first but this gave me a little kick. Still...the terran plot was done in 1 day:( Egosoft still hasn't learned from Reunion to make the main plot way longer even though you have sideplots here.

Can confirm the "workaround" doing the Exterminator mission first does virtually require you to assemble a fleet or at least be flying a decent cap ship. You're up against something like 30 fighters, several corvettes and cap ships, a veritable armada.

Not so. I had no problem passing the mission with just a Sabre, and there certainly wasn't anything worse than an M6 to fight; furthermore, the ships that appear to help you will take out most of the big stuff.

Out of interest then, what was your combat rank? I'm currently "Marksman" so not sure if that spawns tougher opposition than a lower rank. As I mentioned in another thread, there didn't seem much evidence of an Argon fleet in my mission just the odd fighter taking potshots.

Interesting. I found & took this 'workaround'. I thought it a little disingenuous that no mention was made that this starts the major Argon plot thread.

I found the fight was far too difficult if I jumped directly to the N gate (killed by the third P & patrol). However, if I just followed Exterminator for while, the mission guidance switched from N gate to individual Ns & Ms - one at a time. Killing 6-8 of these was easy. Then, as exterminator flew north, no heavy opposition was found.

So, impossible (if you try for the big bonuses) or easy (if you just follow exterminator).

My irritation is now that the next plot step stalls; as Cpt. Pearle won't board an(the) Iguana Vanguard . Surely the ideal ship for the plot step. Nor do you get given transport missions in this ship. It seems the Cargo bay life-support is invisible - until you try and buy another. :( I'd hoped that this sort of scripting bug would have been worked out in X3-R 2 and not reappear.

Use a fighter or similar ship that doesn't have CLS pre-installed - it seems the game is checking for a CLS actually in the cargo bay.

I'll be spending the evening experimenting. Night before last, he refused a ride in the BC Ptype - with CLS, but only 3 units spare space. Last night, there was no response to the Ig. Van. with >100 spare space. Tonight ... ?

iirc, you need 8 M cargo for a passenger.

I think I'll have to try that hostility change thing in Cycrow's cheats, because all stations in M148 are normal, EXCEPT the Outpost, lmao.

When you're delivering the teladianium, or just when you've completed the first O:FF mission? If the latter, that's correct - it should change to blue for the delivery mission.

I'm having a problem with this mission. I have successfully delivered the teladianium and Heywood has said that she and Pearle will escape through an airlock. However, they are still on the station and I am being directed to Heretic's End. There is no mention of them in my cargo bay, either (I have the LS system installed).

To be sure, I went to the indicated station, but nothing happened. As it is, I am stuck -- I have to pick them up from the military base, but they won't leave it. Any help?

Personally, I thought this was a great mission and I fail to see the bug.

Here's how it went for me.

1st entered M148 in a captured vulture with max speed, 25Mj shield and no weapons. Got the initial hail from the station confirming my identity and landing permission only to be sprung by the patrol around the gate. My thoughts - i'm out of here, immediately turned around and left the sector.

Started thinking, maybe I was given that advanced discoverer for a reason, maybe the fact that it can fit a jumpdrive. Now how to get that load to the station, maybe it's time to get one of those military transports that can carry four fighters.

So I set off to the nearest argon shipyard and ordered my sabre and advanced discoverer to meet me there. At the shipyard, I find that I do not have enough cash or argon ranking to purchase a Magnetar, but fortunately there were some defend station and sector patrol missions available and I was quickly able to become more friendly with the argon and afford the Magnetar.

Now for some jumpdrives, well I knew I could get them from Terracorp and that was in a sector called home of light somewhere to the west, so off I go in my rapier through split teladi and boron space doing the occasional station protection job to raise cash and make friends with the various races. Eventually arrive at Terracorp, buy a jumpdrive and hopscotch back to my Magnetar at Omicron Lyrae land and switch the jumpdrive to the Magnetar. Next go and get a load of ecells, jump back to Terracorp to get jumpdrives for my discoverer and sabre and to pick up another 200 Mj shield, then back to rendezvous with my freighter to transfer the teladianum to the magnetar. Get another load of ecells to alow me to jump out and then jump to the unknown sector gate prior to m148 and save.

Fly through the gate into m148 to find that the pesky patrol has moved on, the station once again hails me and this time an easy flight to dock at the station. Deliver the load and get the message to pick up the astronauts. Undock, locate the astronauts and find that the magnetar is not manoeuvrable enough to pick them up. I then transfer the cargo life support to the discoverer plus some ecells to jump to the next sector, change ships and order the Magnetar to jump to the adjacent unknown sector.

I collect the astronauts in my discoverer jump to the next sector and rendezvous with my Magnetar and jump to Heretics end, swap to the Discoverer with my passengers and land at the station to complete the mission.

My impression of this mission is that it wasn't bugged, just designed by someone with a devious mind. Almost as devious as the senator's daughter mission from privateer 2 the darkening.

Just finished this without the palaver that I expected from this thread [thank god]. My personal ship for some time has been the TM OTAS Zephyrus [3x200 Mj sheilds and 1250XL cargo bay] with Nova Raider, Adv Disco and a Kestrel [605m/s] and 200 Tald onboard.

Docked at Station with 18% sheilds no hull damage. Story progresses. Un docked, space suits appear, transfer to Kestrel [with cargo life suport ]. Ran away from ships until the space suits slowed. Came back and picked them up. Jumped both ships out.

No apparant loss of Race rank, is that correct?

You don't have to wait for the suits to slow down as long as you are no more than +10m/s from their speed. I managed to pick up one at 99m/s with the Zephyrus, but couldn't turn fast enough for the other before all hell broke loose.

Good luck all....

Ha!

That would explain why I couldn't kill the Exterminator. :D

I heard about him from someone in game, or something like that, and thought he'd be a good person to try and capture.

However, in my Sabre, all I could do was get his shields down - never his hull. And I kept getting comms from him saying, "Hey man, my shields are down!" or something similar.

I just thought it was another bug. :D

Also, I'm on this exact same mission - however, I made it to the station no problem in my Sabre. Fighters and other stations did aggro, but the station on which I was supposed to dock did not.

However, I'm still waiting for a capped transport to get to Mars so I can repair it and use it... Damn those things are slow. :(
Complete with a sense of humor not even I quite grasp!

Is there a similar problem with protecting the goner ships . I have delivered the teladianium station to Elysium of light but now the sectors are almost completely red with Enemy whenever I try to carry on with the missions escorting the goner freighters

Is there a known list of bugs that is published so I can at least be comforted with the fact that this will be sorted out. The request to escort the ships is now constantly popping up so that even ignoring the missions makes playing the rest of the game difficult ( I have crashed the spacecraft at least 3 times becouse of the annoying popups and suffered heavy damage when in combat as a result.)

Bugs aside congrats on improving a great concept of X3 even further, but please dont tell me I have to reload the game
