R.Styles wrote:It wouldn't be fair otherise for us to get it before the german fans or our other X friends across the globe.
Do you assume that the default language is not German?
I know other than the english fans, german fans make up the next main group of X fans. Didn't mean to single english or german out. Just that it'd be more fair that everyone gets it at the same time.

That is right and proper.
A thought of all current owners of the game downloading the update at the same time. It is clearly wiser for not to know the release time in advance.
Edit:
CBJ wrote:Note 2: The version that will be available for download for existing X³ owners free of charge will be 2.0.01. The main difference is that 2.0.01 includes other language versions, but there is also an extra BBS mission and a few additional fixes that didn't make it into the DVD version.
An update gets fixed before it is even released. Faster than the first patch to 1.0.

True, but there'll be a few mirrors, so we won't all be using the same mirror, but guessing most'll use the first "DOWNLOAD" link they see, they've been waiting for it for that long.

So true, but;
moggy2 wrote: The previous patches were in the order of 25Mb, and the betas have been a similar size.
But this is the last patch egosoft are doing, so I'm expecting it to be big, but we won't know till they release it, All depends on how much they have actually added. So even if they do release the time and date. The patch as suggested by moggy2 won't be too big. It's only the patches from 1.0 to 2.0 which'll be big. If the entire community decide to download at the same time, I'm sure that their servers can handle it he says.
True, but previous patches did not have new 3D-models for PHQ, M7, and M3+'s. I would assume those to use some space, even when packed. Well, with slow line, most problems are in my end anyway. (Wait, I am in my end. Am I the problem? What a comforting thought. )
CBJ wrote:Release of the 2.0 Bala Gi Research Missions update for X³: Reunion is now getting close. The update itself is complete and all that remains is for the translations into the various languages to be finished. In addition to the new features that we previously announced, we are pleased to be able to tell you about a few more little additions.
As well as the main Bala Gi Research Missions there will also be a number of new BBS missions. Watch out at pirate stations in particular, as life there just got a little bit more interesting.
Fans of the Tractor Beam will be pleased to know that it can now also be used to tow ships, and that this even works when towing them from one sector to another.
Pimp my ship! Have you ever seen the colour variations in other ships and wished you could change the colours of your own? Well, now you can. It's a fairly basic facility, but we think it is fun and we hope you do too.
If you had dreams of Avarice but didn't have the cash, then there may be another chance for you with the 2.0 update.
Note 1: The DVD release of X³ by Enlight is simply a re-issue including the version 2.0 update on the disk.
Note 2: The version that will be available for download for existing X³ owners free of charge will be 2.0.01. The main difference is that 2.0.01 includes other language versions, but there is also an extra BBS mission and a few additional fixes that didn't make it into the DVD version.
Note 3: Savegames made in 1.4.03 or earlier can be loaded using the 2.0 DVD release, and savegames made in 1.4.03 or earlier, or in 2.0, can be loaded using 2.0.01.

Well I gave up on this game a long while back because of that BS starforce.
Looks like I will be dusting it off again after these patchs are released.
Cheers, thanks for doing what others don't.
Heh, 50 replies of gratitude and excitement in a matter of hours! As such a devoted comunity it's no wonder Egosoft decided to release this one for free. At least i hope that's the reason indeed.
-"Hey, is your date invitation still valid?"
-"Well yes, sure. Why?"
-"I just wanted to refuse again."
-...
It looks like I will have to start building more complexes that support ship production, not just weapons fabs... I am looking forward to the new challenges!
All I can say is thank you Egosoft... Wooooooooot looking forward to my shiny new HQ,lol.
Changing my ships colors oh man I am going to have to take vacation for a week just to play around.......
Again, Thank you for all your hard work and support.

Quick question: When you install X3 (from DVD) doesn't it install starforce? If so does the expansion pack remove it? How do I get from not haven't X3 on my PC to having X3 + expansion and no starforce?? Cheers.
Starforce is installed when you first run the game, not when you install it. It can be removed once installed using Starforce's own Starforce Removal Tool which is linked on the Tech Support forum. Bear in mind, though, that doing so would also prevent any other Starforce-protected games from running.
Now that that's cleared up, so can we step away from the topic please, for all the usual reasons.
I haven't ever been very active on these boards, but I wanted to express my thanks for the release of this patch. I was able to finish the main plot before I had to cease playing due to problems with Starforce. I know Egosoft caught some (undeserved) flak for a decision that was ultimately out of their hands, but I am exceptionally happy to see that this patch will enable users to run the game without engaging SF protection. It's a damned classy thing to do and I'm excited to start playing again. (What I was able to play, I enjoyed immensely. And I know you're all probably sick of hearing about Starforce just in general.)
Plus: new stuff! Huzzah!
So to the crew at Egosoft: thanks.

It does say in the original post that the colouring facility is pretty basic. We are not talking about camouflage patterns here, just slight colour variations in certain areas of the kind you see on other ships flying around.
quick question.... everybody complaints about SF, i dont understand why, wut exactly is wrong about it? cuse (i think) it doesnt bother me, well xcept for the loading time when u start the game... is that it?
