well, im sorry Anticept, i thought that marking the mod as a beta alerts people that this can be used only for testing purposes, not in a current gameplay.
I will state clearly in the first post this is only for betatesting.
I cant say any release date Creidiki, there a couple of things must be done like clear some blurred stars for some backgrounds like green spot. Im also fighting with some fog sectors. And finally the solar system....arrrgh.
Legends home was a stone in the path but now i can advance cause i got a result that don't hurt me.
The game engine don't help me at all.
Perhaps a 2'7 version release? i dont know.
In other side this time helps to improve greatly the final look of the mod. I have found literally 'hundreds' of inconsistencies between the look and the sectors descriptions. I had make tons of changes.
I will not take more time doing loadscreens, i promise XD.
Only two of shown loadscreens will be included in the final mod. Perhaps with the mod released i will create more.
If this two mods dont change the same things i dont think you will get any trouble the last communist

I understand, connary. Note though, your software is actually in alpha state since it's not complete. Beta means all the features are in and it seems to be stable, just doing large scale testing to be sure.
As said, good addon, am keeping my eye on it.
e1team: 26 pages of reading sucks. 90% of the time its useless chatter

Venus so far:
For some reason in vanilla game its a bright orange sphere. I know the maps of venus are orange but i think its due the filtering used to get the pictures, i dont know exactly.

I like more a soft version:

This is the maximum size of the sun i can get using some tricks:

Even beta means nothing is complete, but mostly implemented. I would def say this is in Beta rather than alpha. Especially since the work being done is aesthetic rather than any actual programing, new features, etc.Anticept wrote:I understand, connary. Counterpoint as per definition of alpha software:StormMagi wrote:Even beta means nothing is complete, but mostly implemented. I would def say this is in Beta rather than alpha. The biggest reason this should be flagged as alpha is that "beta" testing is so misused and often used as an excuse to say "I've pretty much completed it, however I don't feel like being responsible for breakage so I'll mark it Beta." I'm not saying connary is trying to do this, I'm just saying that I myself saw "beta" and interpreted it as finished but not polished.connary wrote: This mod its not finished. Help me to find sectors in need of graphical changes or luminance tweaks to get the best immersion. Any feedback will be welcome.
On the otherhand, if I saw alpha, I'd have stayed away

Well, for the record, feature-complete != bug-free / stable. Either way, I agree with Storm that nitpicking over the correct label for the software phase this is in is silly (not the least of which is because most people, especially non-engineers, simply look at software as either in Beta or Released, since those are the only two phases that they ever see).Anticept wrote: The biggest reason this should be flagged as alpha is that "beta" testing is so misused and often used as an excuse to say "I've pretty much completed it, however I don't feel like being responsible for breakage so I'll mark it Beta." Anyway, I just wanted to stop in say what an awesome job you're doing connary. It really makes the universe pop!

I believe it supposedly can affect a sector but when I enter a Khaak Sector 834 with this one installed everything including I, blows up.
Im not saying it is this mod, but i don't have anything else that could affect sectors other than this.
Can anyone with this mod cheat theirselves in this sector and see what happens?
---
edit: I just noticed in previous pages... nevermind.. crap! crap! crap!
* hits his head against the wall
---
Any other sector with this behaviour?
----
The mod is great though, don't let the whiners bring you down, you have done an excellent job!

I don't have this problem. And about kha'ahk (or whatever), I think there was a fix somewhere in this thread. Not sure if it works though, never had an urge to come closer to them than a PPC firing rangecnecktor wrote:I can't enter famly rhonkar for some reason just never loads not sure if its this mod or not.

So, whats happenin´?
I still haven't decided if I should start a new game or import my current with the X3TC-X3TC converter tools.
While waiting for this I am playing Oblivion... I got a few new games like Masseffect2 that I bought when it got out; but I tend to go back to games that I can modd.
Well, hope we will see some progress soon
Cheers!

Sorry for the lack of info. Im changing basic things of the mod.
Basically i changed all the star textures eliminating the mipmaps, yes i know, seems a very risky approach but basically this creates a pulsing effect of the stars due the excess of resolution. Well measured to avoid moire its a perfect effect imho, the stars seems really floating points of light, no painted in a wall. Must be tested, of course.
Another turn its the elimination of the most saturated backgrounds like the red dawn. This is the new look:
