Are there supposed to be sounds when your ship gets hit by weapons? Also my weapon sounds are very quiet. I'm just curious as to whether or not it's supposed to be like this? I'm still trying the stuff in this thread just in case.

Guys,

I have a solution for the ASF ACM Handler(dxmasf.dll) All you have to do is install/upgrade your WMP10 to 11 and in the DShow Viewer, under "SPEECH" heading it should have only "WMA Voice Decoder DMO" and it's red.

Don't worry about the color, I think, because DShow doesn't really know what to classification that under; since it's new.

I went into the game and NO MORE speech cutting-off the first-half part.

It's great I can actually enjoy the game, immensely, now. :D

Hope this helps...

p.s. As a sidenote...Thank you MadBoris, with your help about the DShow and DSFMgr I wouldn't have done it. Cheers.

Hello Guys ! !

I have serious problems with X3 with the Sound because of Codec Problems i think. I tried your programs to fix the Codec merit, and i now have a clean Graph. All like it should be. But if iam using the DShow Viewer and Attach it to X3 he tells me that X3 is unsing the following files:
COMDLG32.dll // C:\Windows\system32\ // Common Dialogs Dll
HDSPMME.dll // -same folder- // Hammerfall DSP
EAX.dll // -same folder- // EAX Unified

Ok, the next step i did was deactivating EAX --> Eax.dll no more appears.
Then i deactivated the Driver in the Windows Hardware Manager (or what its calles in English , iam german ;-) )
Then the HDSPMME.dll even disappeared.
The only Dll which stays there is the COMDLG32.dll, but the same Problems with the Sound, as other users talked about, aren't gone. I hope i've written in not-so-bad english, thanks for your help !

2 things go back and unchange any merits you changed, if your not sure don't make any guesses. At my initial topic, at the bottom of the post I show the default merits as they should be on a untouched windows machine.

Secondly, install or reinstall media player 11 then check the tool and see.
Certain file names look different in media player 11 and may look red but are ok(the tool was developed under MP10). Let me know. Your original problem may or may not be fixed, let me know.

WHich one of these codecs should I remove?

Post by HellNY »

I have bad stuttering in the game that only started recently. I used the codec display tool and the attach program and found that even though everything looked right, X3 was grabbing over 14 RED codecs that werent showing up in the display. My question is, do I really need to kill or rename all these? Is that safe? Or which ones are the most likely culprit?

Here they are

COMDLG32.DLL
IMM32.DLL
NSCEXT.DLL
ATL71.DLL
MSVCP71.DLL
MSVCR71.SLL
CCL60U.DLL
MSCTF.DLL
LGSCROLL.DLL
MSVCR80.DLL
MSVCP80.DLL
MSCTFIME.IME
MFPLAT.DLL

I cant believe this game stutters so much

Have you tried disabling the symantec software? Some of those are symantec hooks. Most of the unexpected files are nothing to worry about.

Yes I did. I turned off all of NOrton and disabled that Symantec file. It didnt matter. Nothing I have done matters. This started weeks after I owned the game and now Im coming to believe that something cvhanged in Windows XP (one of teh auto updates_ that I may never solve.

I do have NVIDIA forceware droivers for my system and NVIDIA CODECS for video playback. I originally bought these becxause when I bought my system it needed a codec to play DVDS and somehow didnt have one by default (??)/. SO I bough the Codecs from NVIDIA. But they dont appear as "used" by your program. anyway

Hi there, first post, but I signed up to show my gratitude to Madboris. Thanks for this tool, good sir, it made my life a lot easier in tracking this problem down.

I will also post the problem and remedy for others who may encounter it:

When I started the game I found that the speech was taking a while to kick in, and when it eventually did, half of the dialogue was missing. I ran Boris's DS Viewer tool and it highlighted wmpasf.dll as the problematic filter. I then ran DSF manager and removed the ASF ICM Handler which was associated with the problematic wmpasf.dll on the DS Viewer. After this I tried rebuilding the graph on DS Viewer but it said that there was a major problem, so I re-installed Windows Media player, and all is now working fine. Previous re-installations of WMP failed to rectify the problem as did a driver update, all is fine now, however.

Thanks again, Madboris!

I have a problem with speech in the game. I can't hear beginings of the comunicates. But when I dock in the stacion, for example I don't hear the begining, but only end like "peaceful welcome". I started DS Viewer and WMA Voice Decoder DMO, ASF ACM Handler and, I have it in polish, "filtr zasobów pakietu Windows Media", what should be "filter of resources of pack Microsoft Media" in Engilsh or something similar, are highlighted in red. The first one is unknown in DS menager, the third one isn't in DS Mgr, and when I try to change merit for the secound one, nothing hapens, and it is still highlighted. How can I fix it?

I'll just be frank and state my case quick.

Got the "End-Half Voiceovers" problem.
Plays last > 3 seconds of voices.
All other sound works.

If you have Ulead codecs installed then remove them, otherwise please post a DXDiag report to support your DShow screenshot.

I don't know if this has been answered before, sorry, but I just don't have time to read 27 pages.

Anyways, my problem is the speech - I can't hear it.
I think it's a problem with the wmspdmod.dll, however, DSFM just says "Unkown Merit", and I can't change it.
Anyone knows what I need to do? :?

Thanks in advice :D

Try simply (re)installing WMP 10 or 11. It will update your WMA codecs which are the ones used for the voice recordings.

...I had to reset my profile to get email notifications again.

As we see many times the first thing to try is a reinstall of MP10 or 11, as CBJ just mentioned. Many times this repairs issues like voice, where troubles come about with wmpasf.dll.

Hopefully I will get email updates now. But what we really need is a new announcement from Egosoft on the next coming game title, then I can be around more regularly. ;)
