Ego, Best of luck on fixing this game. Have tried all methods to get it to work after reading hours of forums including removing music files etc.
This has the potential to be the best space game ever, much improved on X2 but at the moment i cant play it for any more than 20 minutes without a crash.
Merry Christmas and all the best

Ok after an extensive read of the game manual, while my sector traders made me my millions i found it interesting reading about the Argon, Boron, Split, Teladi & Paranid planets... and i had a flashback to my freelancer days when re-entry into the planets was there... and although all of the trading in x3 is done between stations....
Wouldn't it be a great far far far future addition to have the main race planets available to land upon with re-entry gates and flames.. etc...
Just a suggestion... but to be able to make planetary purchases of various things or to visit places such as libraries such as within the storyline of x2 would be awesome in itself... and add to the enjoyment i already get playing this game.... it's taking over my life, but i don't care... i live in space!! =D

I'd spark one up now... you know it makes sensePickle-snr wrote:As in wednesday the 21 st december ? or the wednesday after that ?
Pickle-snr really hoping its the 21 st december, i gave up smoking 3 weeks ago, not the easiest thing in the world to do, so having the patch before the 25 th would be a great reward for going with out a ciggerette, its lucky i dont have any hair as i would have pulled it all out by now, not because of the game but because of the christmas season

I too had lots of crashes, so I decided to use this as justification to the higher power (wife) that a new PC was in order..... I assembled a AMD 64/4000, 2Gb certified RAM, GeForce 7800GTX, etc. Freshly installed with winXP and yet..... It still crashed, even more than before. The only thing I didnt do was upgrade my Audigy sound card, so I tried it with the onboard AC97 sound... still crashed. turning the sound off didnt help, however, when I both uninstalled the sound card, all drivers, and removed the card it worked fine, conclusion: crashes are sound related... Only one thing for it, so a bunch of roses and a box of chocolates later I acquired an X-Fi Fatality sound card. NO MORE CRASHES, EVER.

When I go through one of the jump-gates in the Elena's Fortune area I'm sure there is a comm message 'Warning - entering atmosphere'. Don't know if anyone else has noticed it - but maybe it is a precursor to the above.lethal_d0se wrote: Wouldn't it be a great far far far future addition to have the main race planets available to land upon with re-entry gates and flames.. etc...

Yep, every time. I get the impression that if you fly towards a planet that you would end up exploding. So it may be possible to land on a planet at some point...pmg102 wrote:When I go through one of the jump-gates in the Elena's Fortune area I'm sure there is a comm message 'Warning - entering atmosphere'. But yet we still seem to think they are great, WHy, because they convince you to buy the Game and only when they have sufficent pre-release purchasers do they release the fisrts pact to fic the game, then they Lie and fudge their way to complete patch release for early/mid November, then string everyone along until JUST BEFORE CRIMBO

Do they think we are stupid

Infromed of when the next BAND AID will try and keep the whole game together!
HOWEVER

X3 gave me back to my family. Thanks!!!
It is boring to wait for a several minutes going from one sector to another; the game is laggy because of nebulas and other bs.
Mining does not work and Mobile drilling at the back (why they cannot be installed at the front?) The effect is weak also; the spiral crasher in X2 was better visually...
Overall, very average game considering all the bugs
Now I am thinking to play something else. The long awating game came crappy. Who cares about graphics if the game does not work. The plot is is not interesting - flying the tunnels - well, I would rather buy another game for that...

good game, shame abut the bugs, and hmmmmmm, thought this patch was the end of nov,now now ES,surely its not to hard to put accurate times scales for your patches, your making your selves look like a second rate games company like *cough*blizzard, soe*cough* where as i know your not,if in doubt over extend your time frames so if you get it done earlier then every one thinks your wonderful, standard engineering practice, say itll take 24hrs knowing it should only take 12hrs,you get the idea

We'll, I've got to hand it to ES that in potential the game would have been brilliant.
Atm it's without a doubt the single most bugged piece of game-code I have ever come across but I guess that's allright as long as some elements of the game work allright and about halve the userbase reports not having problems at all with it.
I see myself as a reasonable guys, patience has never been one of my strongest assets but I realize that blaming a company for not delivering a promise is totally useless, it's part of life and when bothered with these kinds of minor setbacks it's just up to oneselves to deal with them in a appropriate way and not overreact on them.
ES could have left us all out hanging to dry, except they don't...nowdays thats probably as good as it gets in the gameindustry regarding certain releases, although this one remains exceptionally bad.
So to be gratefull for patching things up is a entirely different matter.
What annoys me most is being put of like a 10 year old with pokerface-credo's like: your having a codec-problem in XP. Thats just bending things backwards and it degrades a company like Egosoft from what respect I ought to have for it.
It's X3 that's having a problem with codecs and or certain hardware/operating systems, not the other way arround.
The game can be brought on it's knee's with such ease that by all means, a apology from ES would be nothing more then prudent, except, like mentioned before...that's just not going to happen.
I still think it's a great game, it's highly addictive and when certain items get fixed I'll go along with it for as long as I keep enjoying, that being a lot shorter then if the game would't have required such a huge adjustment-curve regarding anything worth trying to get it stable.

Nowadays most people die of a sort of creeping common sense, and discover when it is too late that the only things one never regrets are one's mistakes.
