The patch will be out before Christmas, so you should have it before you go away.

Ok, i really hate it when people continue to ask questions about the patch when you wait for the results. They gave us some details and yet, you all just continue to complain about things not on the details. They gave us an approximate ETA, so just leave it be. Some of the questions that some people ask are already answered, so pay attention!!!!

But please understand that I was not making a sweeping statement or that I do not understand that different people may/do have different issues. Surly if I was making a presumtion then Red Squirrel was as well with regard to the number of bugs in this game?

Oh well, I'll say no more on the subject...feel free to PM me as I feel you have a keen mind and I enjoy a good debate about such things.
Can I just say - that is one of the best replies I have recieved for a post on here. Obviously read my post, and answered what was in it with a great deal of sense.

Thanks for the time EH.

I hope the patch fixes any remaining issues you have

"Before Chistmas" is not an "approximate ETA", it is more of a rough estimate, at best. And the reason why people keep whining is because X3 could be such a great game if they fix all the problems with it. Some people just can't hande the suspense of waiting for the patch. It would be really nice if they would change "Before Christmas" to "this weekend" (an ETA that is inarguably more approximate than "Before Christmas") but I doubt that will happen.

Awaits:

"Hi all...sorry to say the new patch will now be released in the New Year but we super duper promise it will be ready this time!!"

I think it is a bold move for ANY company to do what Egosoft have done especially after seeing the backlash on other forums when an exact date is given and passed on game patchs.

Software and coding is to unpredictable for such requests and I think Egosoft have already gone out on a limb in this regard.

Keep at it boys!!!

Well, I don't hace Battlefield 2, HL2, F.E.A.R., Quake 4, or really any PC FPS games, I prefer console FPS'ers.

Anywho, I do not get many crashes that often anymore, but that is because I now take the time to "prepare" my computer for the game. Granted, one shouldn't have to do more then stop anti-virus and firwalls, but for as much potential as X3 has, I am glad too. First though, I make my virtual memory static. I did this the minute I formatted the HD on my computer since it's useful for everything. This just helps from having windows eat up some power when it adjusts the size of the virtual memory used. So, on to how I "prepare" my computer.

When I open up the Task Manager and go to Processes, I usually see about 34 or so... not only disabling my firewall and A/V and disconnecting the internet connection (Just in case), but making sure that any active updaters or update checkers are stopped. This usually brings it down to 28 processes. Then I look to see if I have any duplicates (aside from svchost, God knows why it needs so many instances of it...) and stop them unless they are needed.

Lastly, I have this program called "SpeedUpMyPC". Honestly, it is junk for the most part, but it does have 4 useful features. One, it definately can improve internet speed. Two, you can use it to recover RAM. Three it has a crash recovery feature that can be activated anytime by hitting Ctrl+Shift+R, this stops and extra tasks, gives resources back to Windows, and then restarts windows (By restart I mean just clearing the screen and restarting the explorer.exe app to bring back up windows' windows, if that makes sense). Either way, it stops the crash without rebooting your computer... Downside is you gotta remember to restart the program manually since it sometimes kills itself to free up enough resources.

Finally, the 4th feature that I like the most. You can always give more priority to processes from the task manager, but if you Alt+Tab out of the game, it crashes and thus makes it useless. SpeedUpMyPC can actually assign more resources to any single program automatically when it starts, and can also run programs "queitly" when you want them to (Use less resources).

In other words, I use SpeedUpMyPC to help stabalize/speed up load times for X3, free up RAM before starting the game, and recover from crashes without rebooting...

P.s. Yes, I am long-winded

I think Egosoft should take their time and do the right thing, stop trying to rush them because then we will yet again be forced to wade through more useless posts.

Very nice list of bug fixes, I really do hope that the story/plot bugs are going to be fixed soon. I am very honest, I almost gave up on X3 and uninstalled it for now, I am not far in the game, and it is getting a bit frustrating at times, but I hope that the new patch will resolve most of the problems I had.

...and only a week to christmas, woohooo :D

As in wednesday the 21 st december ? or the wednesday after that ?
Pickle-snr really hoping its the 21 st december, i gave up smoking 3 weeks ago, not the easiest thing in the world to do, so having the patch before the 25 th would be a great reward for going with out a ciggerette, its lucky i dont have any hair as i would have pulled it all out by now, not because of the game but because of the christmas season

Who knows...maybe they're gonna see if Santa leaves the patch under the tree for us. Then again, following the pattern, before christmas could mean Dec 25 @ 3:45
