mr.Who that a genious idea.... i should always post not that clear images and let you guys come up with explainations. I am grinning like a madman here

I dont want to spoil the fun, so i just keep my mouth shut and let you wait for the update to see what the fuss is all about

Any topics you would like to see covered as a behind the scenes post here? I dont want to change this topic here to a teaser thread.

Thanks! I read so many David Weber books that i'm serious into military image analysis (aka ships look what it looks because what it does, not because it's cool).

Yet the faction origin for that ship is hard to guess - all my bets are longshots. My guts tell me that this might be either redesigned Borons or Paranids.

I know that you usually do not reply such questions - but have you though about adding some more "old" ships like Xenon L, P some Split ships and maybe some old Terran ships for Canterans? I'm all for new ships, but several "classics" would be nice addition

OK Lino, I'll play.

I think that it is a mining/collector ship (2 big collector scoops to the front on the left, big holding tanks underneath, and the engines under the spiky tail on the right). It is gathering the glowing yellow 'unobtainium' blobs that the Xenon need as a new energy source for their evil expansion masterplan. Therefore the Xenon fighters are 'protecting and farming' that ship for its finished products or energies that are exuded or transmitted from the tail spikes. (Think of ants protecting and farming aphids on rosebushes to secure their 'nectar'.)

As to where the ship comes from and who owns it? Well Teladi would probably deal with the devil if the price were right but in this case I think it is a foul alliance between the machine mind Xenon and an awoken offshoot of hibernating Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Topic I would like to see? Any hints on new ship internal layouts?

My money's on Teladi somehow.

- Maelstrom bordered Teladi space in the past.
- Maelstrom has Xenon stations that look like spiky perversions of Teladi stations in FoO.
- Teladi in FoO don't mind attaching asteroids to their stations.

...having said that, the glowing bits remind me of Otas

...but I probably like even more the idea it could be Split making a ship with their F/F device that also looks a bit like a Xenon capital

...but then Xenon seem to they have an unusual interest in water and that sphere looks water-holder-like! Garghhhhh !!!!

Some details of this "thing" seem to be quite low-poly compared to already existing ships...may it be that this object is relatively small, and we are seeing it from a tricky perspective?

Not that this would give away much of his misterious origin anyway

IMHO, this is a Xenon mining ship or a Xenon gas collector.

If it is a Xenon capital ship, I don't like this rock/shrimp (like Xenon K and I) lineup for these huge aggressive and Xenon vessels.

Currently working on two new medium sized traderships.
All medium ships will be quicker and therefore more useful in tzhe upcoming 4.0 patch. They deserve some more love now

This will be a Omicron Lyrae medium sized freighter.

Looks good! And it's a very good move giving medium freighters a much needed buff! Perhaps you could do the same with ROVs, in particular the Assassin drone?
