thanks for the quick reply, maybe an easier way to implament, would be to get benfetis as a shareholder, like at 10%shares you get a discount at their station, at 20% a larger discount......
, and to get full ownership you have to buy 100%, at witch point the compony is given over to you, and it is taken of the market?

Stock Exchange v4 (Stand Alone) now available for Download from the OP

Stock Exchange v4 DOES NOT include Banking.

The previous versions are also still available for download, but only until i get Universal Banking also released as a stand alone version.

I will do a complete overhaul of the OP when both stand alone versions are done.

Is v4 still considered a "Beta" Mark, or is it release candidate quality? I'd be glad to drop it into my game, just need to know what level of completeness I'll be working with.

the top one should be 'Show Subtitles for Owned Share cr Change' and the Bottom one is, ironically 'Turn Debugging On (Prints to log09740)'.

Just checked and both texts are in the text file and the script has the correct numbers, so um, no idea.

Anybody else have these errors in the options menu ? Even a 'Nope mines fine' post will help.

Can i ask you to DL the Zip version and take the 't' file from it and put it into your game folder and see if that fixes it please.

Yep, wrong 't' file in spk.

Fixing now.

EDIT:
Corrected SPK package uploaded and available from the OP.
everyone who has DL'ed spk v4 please re DL and install Spk v4.1 or use the 't' file 9740 from the zip version. Should be No need to sell and uninstall anything, just exit game and uninstall v4 and install v4.1.
Subtitles would also have not been working with spk v4. (missing subtitle text)

Question:
If I edit 8806-L044 and add my Pilot name to the end......... What would it do in relation to your script ... I presume I will show up in the list of CoRPs... and will the "stock" trend up the better I do... or would it be similar to meeting your self in the future?

IE: I buy my stock... my stock goes up and I dump my shares making my stock drop but my wallet fat..... in turn making my stock go up

Well i can tell you this, when i saw a post with your name on it, what i read was not what i was expecting .... Thankfully !!!!

Don't tell mw it sounds like it's working ?? Yippie hooraa.

If you add you name to the end of the 8806 file the tine space continuim will be distorted and the Khaak and Xenon will unite and destroy the universe.... well it want really but i'm taking no chances.

You will need to run the unstall 'update' option though when you get back into the game. as usual, sell everything then run the update, then open the menu again, set options and check, your name should have been added. You need to run the update option to reset the name list and get the script to read it fron the text file again.

You will have to buy and sell shares in your company to find out what will happen.

Yes you can make money on the stock exchange, but you can also Loose it too. Have fun !

I've kind of gone away from the 'Stage' naming. was getting beyond it's use by date, just using 'version' now.

i got question : how rise/fall factor is calculated?
becosue each time i buy some actions in hour or so they dropping horribly.
i bought plutarh for 987 and after 2 hours they cost 880 or sumthign liek this.. and i bought them for 50 sumthign milions i lost 2 m on freeking % for teladis and now even mroe due of hilarious fall of plutarh . evvery time i buy some actions company fall badly ... WTH

Companies are different again. As they are based on fictional companies whos names are generated from the forum name library. Their value is based on a wholy me made fictional algorithum. They have no basis on in game events, but rather a sligh use of number manipulation. How they go is just luck of the draw

If the 'Corporations' are dropping in value it will most likely be as a result of them loosing ships (being destroyed) in your game.

i dont know wich cousing it but terra corp got - minimal price
i actually bought 200000000000000 shares for 0 gold. than value raise to 2 i sell and .. i got 0 gold its clear my acount.. anyway i relog nd buy them again for 0 credits.. w8 and shares drop to - 2 i sell them and gain 650 milions ... intersting

Wow ... thats a lot of shares at a really good price !

So you have rrf and pirate guild, ok i think the inclusion of those scripts has thrown the intial calculations done by Stock Exchange for the Corporations value out, creating the error. I'll look into what i can do to correct it. Thanks for the feedback and bug report.

I think we both learnt some new stuff, the script got improved and i lost some more hair, all in all though, not to bad.

I've taken a step back and slowed down on things just a bit to try and not repeat the same mistakes. Hense the slightly delayed release of the Universal Bank.

Speeking of the Universal Bank, It's initial release will not include the Repo Ship, all non payment of loans or interest will just result in the auto removal of credits from accounts and wares from Stations and Ships. Oh and if this doesn't cover the debt, I take your stations and ships to cover it and sell them to the sector owner of the sector they are in.

This will be changed in later releases as i get the Repo Ship scripts working correctly and reliably.

(at the moment i'd be happy with just a half reasonable internet connection)

Hmmm, the boron corp has a -59 credits as it's lowest minimal in my game... but that's the only one I've seen so far that goes that way all the others have positive low minimals

It's down to the way i have done the initial calcs for the corp value, some are falling outside what i thought would be a safe range. This is due to the vast variance in game environments possable.

I'll look into how i can put some checks into the script to catch errors like that and corect its self if it finds any. Unless it becomes a real problem it wont be until next update to allow for any further issuse to surface so i can address them all at once.

Can you both please go to the options menu and turn Debugging on and save changes, let it run for about a minute and then turn it back off and save changes. Then email me the log09740 txt file please. This will tell me the raw values for the Corporations so i can use those to help see what changes i need to make.

This looks pretty interesting, will definately give it a go when I can, looks like it could add a new dimension to the gameplay.

A couple of minor notes:

The description in the OP could do with better formatting! All that coloured text and varying font sizes are really distracting.

I would recommend a short introductory paragraph saying what the script does and how it does it in basic terms. E.g. how does the player interact with the stock system, how and when are stock prices calculated.

Also, use the

forum tags to create bullet lists (check out http://www.phpbb.com/community/faq.php?mode=bbcode) - helps clean up long posts substantially.

I also noticed you mention something about avoiding SETA since steps can be skipped or something. What you should do for something time-critical like stock price fluctuations is use the script command "get playing time". Don't rely on the "wait" command for accurate time steps, since quite simply "wait" isn't even remotely accurate, especially in SETA. It's good practice to use an AL plugin when you have something global level to update every X seconds, like stock prices.

Sorry if I sound like a whiny bitch, but this plugin has the potential to really improve my game, so I have a vested interest in harassing you to ensure it's tip-top .

I ask for critisism and comments if it's constructive and will lead to improvements in this or my scripts in general. I appreciate the time you put into your post.

As i'm right in the middle of seperating the 'Universal Bank' out of Stock Exchange i haven't fixed the OP as yet until i get both Scripts released individually.
The introduction needs to be rewritten and lists as you suggested used. Along with the removal of all the Banking info.

SETA
Well that's another one of those 4 letter words that shouldn't be spoken in front of your mother.

I'm learning a lot of these things regarding timing an so on, well getting a better understanding of them, as i'm improving these scripts. So all advice i'm getting i'm using to help.
As for becoming an AL plugin that is the next logical step from where it is now as timing is becoming a big part of it. Waits worked when the script was in its infancy but it has sure outgrown them now.

Any further input you would like to make is welcome.

I'm working on all this as fast as i can so if i can just ask for your and everybody elses patients while i get it done i would be most gratefull. It's just me and my keyboard working at it and it takes time, i've tried to rush it and it has led to far more problems than it's worth. The last thing i want to do is screw it up by me trying to take shortcuts, i'd rather screw it up cos i made a genuine unintensional booboo.

I hope you enjoy it when you do get to use it, thats my aim.
