Got a feeling it's possibly to do with 'safety-net' layers in modelling (?),
something like the flickering textures in some models (in the viewer only), see post:

Not sure I can do much about it atm, without changing the way the viewer renders,
it's even sort of diagnostic, in a way.
What effect does turning off 'enable transparency' in Options menu, probably makes it worse...

You know what's coming now? 
Will there be an update to show the new ships and stations of Albion Prelude? Already tried to copy the files from the addon folder to the main directory but that does not seem to work.
Edit:
I repacked the AP game files into one single cat (for the t files) and placed it into the mod folder. Now most of the ships can be loaded, but the viewer crashes while loading 2 ships: that boron drone ship and another (terran?) one I can't remember at the moment, but I think it has to do something with the XTC special docks, which are used in the addon (I have the same problem with some ships from XTC).

I wanted to see if the Albion Skunk was in the game. It just loads the vanilla X3:TC game files.

Of course the viewer can't show the AP ships because it only looks for the main directory and the mods folder. So by now you have to copy the 01.cat to your mods folder in the main directory. That works for my game. I hope exogenesis will update this great tool. And maybe fix the crashes while loading the xxx_land_scene files.

Well, I bought the X-superbox (£7-50 gamersgate sale !) with the intention of giving myself
the option of registering & downloading AP (for free
).
But atm I can't make install the 'shop' on my PC, still very unconvinced about the S-word.
So can't currently do much....
Maybe the DVD version of AP wil be S-free, quite happy to pay extra for that.
Definately like the sound of the responses ppl are giving so far to AP.
As for Rebirth...will have to wait & see what happens with that...
Alex seems to have the right approach, get the cat/dats in the TC mods folder,
and the viewer should at least have a go.

xtc_boron_dock_land_scene from xtc_boron_m7drone_scene and
xtc_terran_dock_quicklaunch_scene from xtc_terran_dc_scene
Since these ships are originally from XTC I had the same problem there. I think the terran ship might be the M7 that looks like inspired by that Star Wars, if you know which one I mean. Can't find a screen though.
No problems with the other ships.

I've noticed the viewer works fine once you've copied the addons/01.cat + addons/01.dat file to the mods folder (ok, there's a new tab that appears) but the ship names are not present for the new ships.
eg. the new split armoured personnel transport is called SS_SH_S_TPP
Otherwise, all's good with the app.

That's because the t file which contains the names and descriptions seems to be built a bit different to the ones of TC. I copied the entries to another t file from a ship mod and everything works fine.gbjbaanb wrote:but the ship names are not present for the new ships.

Does your viewer show the boron and terran drone carrier? It always crashes (loading -> no response) with these two ships for my game.

Sorry, yep, and there should be something like 002-L044.xml. Those text files contain all the written words. Open it with something like Notepad++ (MS Editor will destroy the file) search for the ship entries and copy them to a similar file from TC, best would be one of a ship mod, so you won't have to search for the right page-id (has to be something with a 17 in the end), or create a new one. That perfectly worked for my games.
