Thanks Brinnie :)

Buck_Rogers, do you mean like last December ?,
whats 'flying any queen'.

Think I should really recode this thing from scratch,
probably when Rebirth comes out.

Yeah, I thought it was the same thing, but I goofed  I forgot about the 'mod1' tab. That's why I could'nt see my new model.

Oh and I thought everyone referred to the original Reunion Eclipse model as the 'flying ant queen'?

A few posts back:
Alan Phipps wrote:I'm using the Viewer 2.0.0.2 with Vista x64 and the dll in the folder which works correctly is the d3dx9_37.dll. However, that folder is in Programs (x86) and not in Programs. I see you are using drive I anyway.
Would have thought the viewer would use the local (to the exe) version of the dll.

Perhaps try copying the _37 dll to your windows system directory?
Hello exogenesis,

Here is the d3dx9_37.dll : http://www.d3dx9.net/download-missing-d ... /…download it and then extract the downloaded zip file to the system32 folder which is located in windows folder (that is located in your main drive which contains the installed windows)

... no valid X game ... ?

Post by edeler89 »

Hello,

I have a curious problem with the viewer. I've been using it very often since it has been uploaded for download and it has always worked very well, but for a few days now it says my directory I've installed my X3 TC in does not contain any valid X game ... which is of course not true !
The X3 Editor of doubleshadow works just fine as it always did - with the same directory as the X Viewer !

I tried a lot of things like reinstalling (just the viewer) and changing the directory (again just the viewer) but nothing helped out of this mess ...

Is there anything else I can do ? Is that problem known to anyone ?
It would be nice hearing a few ideas for support !

Thanks folks ;)

Hi edeler89,

perhaps try using regedit to delete the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\X3Models3DFunfair
or on 64 bit windows:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\X3Models3DFunfair

i.e. press the windows-key + R, and type regedit into the Run-Open box.

Maybe it's got stuck with a directory where there used to be an installation, but isn't there anymore.

You'll lose the other user-preference settings, but there aren't that many :)

Just like to say, thanks for the awesome tool! Love checking out ships and it makes comparing things a breeze. Is there any plan to add Hull stats?

Cheers, but I can't see any updates happening till Rebirth,
assuming that's do-able.

I just realized that the current version does not support XTC. So I downloaded the XTC version from one of the pages in this thread. While comparing both versions I recognized that there is no iindication of the ship sizes in the current one.

So maybe you could make an update that supports Vanilla (including most mods) and XTC and which shows the ship sizes.

Delayed reply, had a spot of bother logging in.

Yes, there are two versions the standard version linked in the OP and the XTC 'test' at
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php? ... 23#3481823

One only works with non-XTC, one only works with XTC
(xml parsing aggro)

Indicating the actual ship size (metres?) has been raised on & off,
somehow never got to it.

Unifying & adding various suggestions might have to wait for Rebirth,
not go a lot of drive for this atm, cos I haven't played for ages.

Still useful as-is I guess, cos there's still many downloads per day,
or is that not a very good indicator ?

surferx wrote:OK, I got it. I had installed the viewer into C:\Program Files, but I realized my X3:TC directory is in C:\Program Files (x86). (Btw, I have no idea why I have two program file directories. :? Now I'm thinking "maybe this is why my printer hasn't worked. " )
So I reinstalled the 3D viewer into (x86). It still wanted the d3dx9_29.dll though. And it was the right version from page one of this thread. Anyway that got everything going. I'm really grateful for your time in responding, exogenesis. I can't brag enough about your viewer. Thanks. :D
27/08/11 and still same bug. I downloaded suggested file and placed inside 3D directory: all fine thanks.

I'm sure it's a pretty good indicator, even though I've Dl'd multiple times myself. Waiting for the nbt aka Rebirth to upgrade the viewer is reasonable. I don't see why ES doesn't just stick it on the dvd as a throw in for the game. :D
Ship sizes reference chart; I'm hoping you get to add that to the viewer as it sounds like an excellent addition. Still I think the show to scale option helps a lot with ship comparisons.

Numbers are nice, but there's already a comparison chart available. Still, it would have been nice to have the numbers in the model viewer. :)

How come on some ship models there's a translucent black box around the ship?
