I'm not sure where everyone got the idea the steam release of the patch would be at one minute past midnight today, or that it would definitely be today at all.
Well its not 1 minute past midnight today, its actually 3:22pm EST. Hope that helps. I'm in America on the East Coast, how about you?
How do our time zones matter with regards to asking someone from egosoft to email their valve/steam contact because they'll get a quicker reply than we would since their customer support is even worse?
My comment wasn't aimed at you specifically, just the general clamour for something that people seem to think they have been promised when that isn't the case.
I can't speak for the actions or inactions of Egosoft, but I will point out that it's a bank holiday for much of Europe today so it's unlikely anyone's in the office. I'm also not an expert on relations between Steam and developers, but I doubt Steam would like developers releasing information that hasn't already been announced by them. Since I can't find any announcement on the Steam site I think it's unlikely they'd want Egosoft making announcements here that people would then complain to Steam about if things didn't happen. All I can say for certain is in BurnIt!'s post above:

Your timezone doesn't matter.
Valve's does, since if they're not at work, no-one's going to answer your hypothetical email (or be working on the patch, for that matter).
So does Egosoft's, since they're in Germany and it's a public holiday, I believe - I wouldn't expect many (if any) people are in the office today.
Isn't valve in America? There's no holiday today. We're all slave monkeys on this happy Monday.
As for Egosoft being in Germany, well, there you go. Now we'll just blame Easter, those pagan solstice jerks!
I don't know why we're being all snarky to each other here, you'd think you guys would want the patch as much as I do so you wouldn't have to do with all the "WHERE IS THE PATCH I AM GOING TO CONTACT THE BBB AND FBI HOW DARE YOU SIR" posts that are going around.
My point about Valve was that they've probably only been at work a few hours, so 'Monday' for them still has quite a way to go. Although (as already said a few times), what was stated was 'not before Monday'.
heyhellowhatsnew wrote:I don't know why we're being all snarky to each other here,
Certainly not my intention.

Of course. More than that, I'd like the patch to be available so that everyone could enjoy it. Even without the patch though, I'd quite like people (in general) to read what's already been posted before starting new threads on the issue. Still, I've been around long enough that I should know by now that not everyone will.
Yeah I've had enough of this crap with steam. I'm through with steam. The "pretend patch" business works so that's what I'm doing untill steam updates finally and funny. After that I will never buy there again...
I now have multiple games that are awaiting a steam patch. Not just this one. I also had _no choice_ at all but to buy those _all_ game through steam.
So, I blame the developers of those games for forcing me to purchase through steam. That _is_ thier fault. They just needed to find a publisher who would release here and not worry about the discount cost of no box. I am sure they all lost more money by not putting it on the shelf than they saved with thier steam contracts.
Yea, I coulda bought this through the online store for 4x as much at the time. I think it was the equiv of $90 american at the time.
Had I the option, I would have without a doubt purcahsed a boxed version off all my games at the local shop. Instead, I get to sit here and wait for weeks for patches that other people are already enjoying.
A couple of my games won't even run at all until steam gets thier patches sorted. Thankfully, I can at least play this one at 1.4.

On topic:
Ive been waiting for the patch too, but what really is another week compared to the others? Seems more like its a BUT HE GOT IT FIRST! kinda thing as opposed to actual necessity (ie bug fix)
Im sure we will see it within a couple of days properly on steam
well//// monday it is.
i bet we will not see th patch before thursay or friday.
egosoft was very clear on: cannot be deployed before next monday.
that does not mean it will be deployed on monday.
you know steam they only got 1 guy to deal with patchs, and he might need 2 days to think "what i should do today".
i KNEW the patch will not be released on monday. and this topic is getting longer and longer and longer. i wonder why.
steam has proven that they are a bunch of incompetent workers. it is been like this since the beggining. at least for TC.
i wonder what excuse they might give to egosoft this time. and what is going to be informed officialy in our forums.
can anyone tell me please, PLEASE, why we should always be the " we understand" ? type of people? i now understand why steam forums are soo DEAD. they cannot put thenselves in front of any issue. and support .. well what can i add?
it is sad, here i have no access to the DVD version , and i am still looking for some shop that can ship the retail box to me. (Mexico) and sick & tired of STEAM ADWARE everytime you close the game too. is there a way to shut the addware in steam client?
they are not even worth the respect i have for a insect. (thats my opinion)
palm out. see ya in 2 days at the same topic. to vent a bit more.
the patch delay for me is absolutely secondary. i too don't like the idea that we are still waiting for it but thats the way the cookie crumbles.
what gets me is the last post on the steam forum from steam themselves.
'they are proud to anounce the new patch 1.4'
they haven't checked their forum since.
i've even reported myself using the yield sign next to my post. the only reply was from a volunteer who also had no clue what was going on.
NEVER EVER EVER BUY GAMES FROM STEAM THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND WALK AWAY LAUGHING!
have u guys happened to read the post related to bluesnews or whatever site it is, apparently, at one time, Steam said, the person in charge of patching is out of town for a week... I didn't see the date and I may be wrong, but one person for patching? I don't think they'd put all their eggs in one basket like that, perhaps it was meant meaning for THAT particular game... so anyway, at least we can all pretend to do something else while the geek-X-hamsters in our heads crank along on their wheel(s)...
Nice weather today, in New England here... bit chilly though... I like fish sticks.. they're pretty good for sticks...

Of course, you could have just bought a UK copy of X:TC through Gogamer.com, for like $46, about three days after it came out. You didn't HAVE to go through Steam. There were about a dozen threads here in the forum linking to Gogamer's sale.
For those people who loudly proclaim that they are through with Steam and will never buy from there again, thank you. One fewer person on the content servers hogging up my bandwith.

A lot of people seem to have assumed that means Valve only has one guy doing patches for all games, which doesn't seem particularly likely to me either.
Given that the post wasn't made by a Valve employee, I'd take it with a pinch of salt anyway - I don't think it's the kind of thing you'd normally tell a customer (Valve -> Ascaron).
