New shaders can be and have been written for mods (XFP being one of them), but few have undertaken this task. Generally my interest in writing new shaders has been to create effects not available with the existing default shaders. This as yet remains a largely unexplored realm in X3 modding.pjknibbs wrote:I'm reasonably certain the X3 modding model does not allow entirely new shaders to be written, but I could be wrong on that.

Nope, just after the same question, over and over again :-pKryten wrote:After a few drinks......Marijn wrote:
now i don't want to be pushy but any news about the new patch yet?
Is there a new "official" thread about it? Has this one been updated? Is there something splashed all over the main news page? No? Well, there's your answer!

I can see your point of view but not having to look at all those posts
I remember after xbtf I couldn't wait for the next installment, these days however I know how many years It can take to develope something I take a more realistic approach
My first mobile phone came in a suitcase, cost over 5k and only worked in a few places, whenever I get frustrated, I think back to how awsome I thought that piece of junk was

Patch? PATCH?
Why can't the peeps at Egosoft come up with something like a 'niquitin' patch for smokers? You know, where you give certain people a download that has a little progress bar or timer that SEEM'S to be moving to some point in time. That way the 'A patches' crowd, not a certain tribe of Native North American Indians
, can watch with fascination as something seems to be getting somewhere. That way the rest of us can just get on with Forum stuff ie when the next expansion is due to be released.....

Hey all, I used to post here years ago, when X2 first came out.. I'm very happy to hear there is a new patch coming for X2.
I recently decided to finally go back and finish X2 (I never had done so) and then buy X3 on Steam later. (I never really had a powerful enough computer to fully enjoy them until now).
I came to the site to get the latest patches and stuff, and happened upon this info.
Really looking forward to it.. I figure it'd probably be best to wait for the patch before starting a new game? (planning on starting a new xtreme game).

It doesn't really matter afaik.
Your savegame will be compatible with the new patch, but the patches for both games are obviously(according to my not so wild speculation) going to be more than bug fixes, so the new features may be good to wait for.
