X-EagleWing,

Is there a particular reason you want to do that? I'd like to save whatever you have and make the converter do it's job.

By chance what version/download of the converter did you use to WRITE and what version did you use to READ? Were they the same?

I know that there have been some updates and I wonder if there's maybe a conflict if you switch versions in between.

Just trying to think out loud here.

Also one thing I did when I first started using the converter. Try importing it into a Vanilla game, BEFORE, you install XTM. If it works there, then we at least know its an XTM problem and not the file.

O, if let you feel I make some loud here, sorry about that.

I just mean I don't want to lose any important ships , so want to try more ways to convert for old save .

And I think maybe decrease any ships(like navigation relay satellite is count by object for ship) can help for resolve the problem.

For the test, I run the WRITE command at DDRS MOD(but not owned any special DDRS ship), and run the READ command at Original X3 without and MOD.

However, when i start a new game and try and load my ships it says readtext 8758-2 strong null coult not be read started with next line. in a message i am wondering if anyone of you could help. i tried to start it up in 4 diffrent sectors i am wondering should i fly to an unkown space and try it there.
I have followed the readme_EN and i am still having problems, i am wondering should i rename the file something diffrent then 448758.xml

Hi, i have the same problem as X-EagleWing and some others in the past.
Output txt file is 467bytes and does not contain my ships.
Tried importing, everything imports just fine apart from the ships.
I dont have any factories but i have about 100 ships though.
I get the reputation with tthe races and the credits, i lose my rank and the ships.
I only have Vanilla game 2.5 and the latest bonus pack no other mods and the only script i used was the Unified capture or something like that to be able to cap ships bigger than M3/M3+.
Still these are original X3 ships so nothing weird here.

Any suggestions maybe?

SOLVED!!!!

Lol it just popped into my mind after i posted and read this thread 4 times.
The common thing between all of us who couldnt transfer our ships was the fact that we didnt own any stations.
We only had ships.
So i went back in Argon Prime bought a SPP placed it in some random spot then saved in a free save spot, loaded the game again, run the converter and it worked!!!
NOTE: when i run the converter and it took me to the xscreen where i had to choose something the factory was flashing both times for me, like i should select it and i did.

File size from 467 bytes went up to 7.5kb
all ships included and guess what?
First line before the ships contains the station so without a station propably the convertor stops there.
so you can get the cheapest factory around and place it somewhere and go through the whole process.

Have fun

Also i've tried to perform a manual activation selecting "Start X3-X3 converter" in the script editor and pressing r, but i hear only one "beep".

Ok, now i've solved a few problems, but don't work anyway:

I've found the command in the piracy menù, but it is named ReadText-2010-608 or something similar, i activate it, put the write command and then select my station/ship/anything for 2 times; after that appear the message Readtext8759-11, but nothing else, and the log file is not created. What can i do?

xxxhackerxxx,

I would probably guess that's because it was never converted for an Italian version installation.

If you look in the T-file folder, there are only 2 text files, one for German and one for English.

If there was an Italian file, you could normally just change the Lang-ID header in the scripts that point to them and fix it that way.

Since there is no Italian T-file altogether, you'd have to build one yourself (translation) or at least find where the switch is in an Italian installation to force it to use the English text file.

I just looked at the script files and didn't see that switch off-hand.

You might have to PM Symtec and see if there is a quick workaround.

EDIT On a hunch, try going into the English Text File and change the Lang-ID code in the header to "39" for Italian and maybe it will use the English text file

xxxhackerxxx,

You have to remember that you are starting a "new" game, that means you "haven't visited" any sectors yet.

Unless you already put a Satellite in them before you saved your last game, you won't see them.

You can either use "cheats" to show "all" sectors, or you'll have to "revisit" them in your new game.

Check the "readme" it will tell you that it can only give you back your individual stations and it can't import your Trade or your Fight rank, because you have started a "new" game without any.

Your Race Ranks should still be there. Also if you are missing any money, the converter can only hold approx 325,000,000cr in your account or in any single station.

The HQ has to go into a mammoth, because it will only "work" again if you "re-drop" it into a new game.

Now that you have it working, if you still have your old "save game" you could go back and drop satellites and "write" it again. Or you can try several scripts or the cheats to put satellites in sectors or just "reveal all" of them.

Hmm, Ive looked right through this thread and cant see what to do..
I have used the X3-X3 converter to import my old X3 save game into my new X3 XTM save game - all stations and ships and credits are copied over - FANTASTIC!

Now I want to copy over all my stations and ships from my even older X2 game...

I deleted the X3-X3 scripts and xml files and installed the X2-X3 files.
I created the 448758.xml from the X2 output log and it looks fine - 43 items.
The first lines are like this...

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?><language id="44"><page id="8758" title=" " descr=" ">
<t id="1">u0YFb811111LG8G7G5G4G3F7F6F5F3E6E3E2E1D6D5D1D0C6B7B6
ADA8A79D9C9B9A9998938D8986837978777673696665646362616059565
55453525150494645444341403D3B3A393837363534333231302E2D2C2B2
927262524232221201D1918171615141312111006050403020100</t>
<t id="2">s040QK0JS0H900201m1Kn062Uw0M1kSw0b019w0M1kSxMy Power Plant</t>
<t id="3">t040Nd0JD0HBAS003002nww01003w1N001w1S001w1T001w1U001
w1V001w1e001w1g00Uw1i001w1m00Kq100801A0xAnother Mercury 3</t>

BUT... when I run X3 and start the X2-X3 convert from the piracy menu, I get 1 beep, autopilot activated" and then stright back to normal.
Nothing is imported.

As suggested by SymTech (bottom of page 12) earlier, I have tried to comment out the 2nd line of plugin.stl.x3.start.xml in the script editor, but I then get an error when I try to save the script - Error Lost statement in line 5 (which is the else statement that goes with the IF).

Can somebody help me out please?
Thanks. Keys.

Did you comment-out the line starting with 'if ...' ?

That would be the wrong one

Suggestion: simply change the line

Code: Select all

$global.stl.convert.done = 'global.stl.convert.done'
into something like

Code: Select all

$global.stl.convert.done = 'global.stl.convert.again'

@Xelonir
I tried changing the line 1 as you suggested, no difference, I found the same line at line 1 of plugin.stl.convert.callback and did the same there, no better, it just will not seem to read the 448758.xml file. No errors, no message in the log.

Any further ideas?
Thanks.

Thanks for your help.

Well this is fun isn't it

i've had and over-come every problem listed in this monster. and breezed( ) through it all in the last 2 hours

i've gone from x3 v2.5 with all the x3 downloads from the main egosft site, to XTM .7 i have had both running and untangled the saves( i have several partions and found putting a new install on one of them means that i can run x3 or XTM without any conflict) the log file was created and i checked to see if the file had my stuff in it. and hey presto no messing around with uninstalling and re-installing stuff. it worked, got all my ships to run for cover and then ... XTM bl**dy well crashed ! i've had enough fun for one day

thanks to Symtec for the converter and everyone who has worked hard to over-come the issues that it generated it would have taken days without you all :D
Note to self:- get clever quote or sometihng...

my problem is when i have installed the script, it isnt there on game in piracy commands

i did this

downloaded it
extracted spk. into scripts in x3 reunion directory

then extracted the number file into t folder in x3 reunion directory

went onto game and i had already got LV's cheats installed so i didnt think i had to put Thereshallbewings as my pilot name
but i did it anyway after i had looked on piracy command and all that was there was collect astronauts

did i do it right?? if not please explain briefly what i have to do to fix it

thanks in advance
