Unfortunately no, it seems the problem is in linux and it works fine for me, im currently trying to find if someone has a laptop powerful enough to run X4 in my surroundings to test it.
The one thing i can ask you, if you have time and willing to do so, is to install cheat package, stay away from combat, cheat in money and reputation and build remotely some paranid ships with different weapons, get them back to you and try to manually shoot them, it will crash on some, in that way ill know exactly what to fix.

I'll see if that mod works on my system as its install instructions specifies a windows only directory. One thing to check is that all file names and names in the xml are lower case. Linux is case sensitive, not looked at it myself, but if a texture or animation has uppercase letters, it'll cause issues.
I'll get back to you if I can figure anything out from the cheat mod above.

Reading the "beams suck" thread in the main forum gave me an idea for a suggestion: can you add some long-range beam turrets with high sustained dps but terrible tracking? Plasma turrets are nice and all but I miss me some Homeworld.
The easiest way to reproduce my bug was to get a plasma shotgun and shoot a P in the belly where there's lots of different surfaces to ricochet off. Fiddling with graphics settings would sometimes work to get you through a fight, but not permanently.
I had a similar issue a couple of pages back (freezing upon shot impact), I hope it hasn't cropped up again. Using the github VRO 2.0 seemed to fix it for me, although the code base does suffer from the linux capitalization bug as well so you'll need to google how to recursively lowercase the source tree for the inscrutable perl regex that does it.Rastuasi wrote: ↑Sat, 18. Ai is bad with sustained beams, they tend to jerk them and end firing consequence prematurely.Derp wrote: ↑Mon, 27. BUG: All ships show as squares on the map ship buy menus are just black screens.
I'm using the recommended mods. Not sure if this is a 3.0.5 bug or a mod bug.

@Shuulo: How good do you think VRO 2.0 and XR Shippack are balanced in the latest versions? The Xenon caps have a hard time versus the XR ships in my game.

You should wait for official release, currently XR pack is not balanced. After release XR pack author will release vro patch so they will be balanced.

As Shuulo said, I will upload a VRO version of the ship pack asap when VRO 2.0 comes out. In fact I have the mod already done, I just cant upload it because it is based on VRO 2.0.
So stay tuned and wait a little more and you will be able to play both together.
You sure can also play the standard XR Ship Pack, but the ships have less hull values (but are also cheaper) than in the final XR Ship Pack VRO version. Speeds and everything else is pretty much balanced to VRO even in the standard Ship Pack version, so only Health and prices do not fit VRO and ships are missing internal shields.

That's good to hear! I've been holding off because I assumed it was some kind of gross incompatibility issue, like your ships not having turrets or something. Just wanted to leave a note to say that the 2.0 beta version is really cool from the little bit of testing I did and I hope to use it for a proper 3.0/split expansion playthrough when it comes out.

Hi folks just returning to this game after some time and finding out some new mods to play with. This one looks by far one of the better ones I have to admit. My question as Im only starting a new save today and already loving the new stuff (beta .5 patch) will this be okay with the new Split update or will I need another new start?

If you want to retain the savegame and VRO just wait for VRO to update to Split DLC and then load your 3.0 save with Split DLC.
I expect it to take 1-3 days after Split DLC release to update VRO.

Thank you for the very fast reply and kinda impressed if you can make saves work huge thumbs up. I'll carry on building my fleet and already starting to see HOP being brave and trying to push north

Any idea on what kind of ships the Split will provide bonus in I.e Argons like their heavy fighters and L's =)
