X3:Reunion was the third in the series, built upon the same engine as the previous iterations, but with graphical upgrades as well as additional content. Comparing this game, the first of its series with a brand new engine, against the third/fourth/fifth iterations of the other series is hardly fair. If you want to compare how well this game holds up against its predecessors, it would be more fair to compare it against X BTF.
I still have high hopes for X Rebirth, both as a standalone game and as a series. I know a lot of people have been put off by this debacle of a release, but if Egosoft announced a new game in the series tomorrow, I'd be there preordering. I have put several thousands of hours into the X games since X2, and the whole set of them barely cost me $150 (I paid $0.99 USD for X2. Found it on a shelf in gamestop weeks before X3's release; it was my introduction to the series. I can't remember what I paid for Reunion/TC/AP, but even if I assume $50 a piece that's only $151 total minus tax).
So, with that said, even if this game was a total flop, the $50 or whatever I put into it is anything but a waste; it's an investment into a game company that has proven to me multiple times that it is capable of keeping me wildly entertained for countless hours, and I'm more than willing to be accepting of a bump in the road. It's not like them putting out X Rebirth has somehow nullified my ability to play X3:AP, so it's hardly the end of the world.
Honestly, though... X Rebirth is getting ever closer to where I want it to be. The only thing really holding me back is something that a lot of you find to be insignificant- lack of capital ship bridges. Man it ruins it for me when I have to command my capital ship from the broom closet, where the rest of the crew just happens to be hanging out lol. But once they add that, I can pretty much look past the rest.

I heard somewhere that they will add a small ship dealer in the next patch.lordpazuzu wrote:Yeahh Borons at last!!
But what I really hope is that we can build mid to small ships to trade between stations of our own, without the need of capital ships, this will replace the cosmetic ship lanes with a more functional ones, and can introduce more spice to the universe.
So yes, it could be possible?
Where do you see borons?Nikola515 wrote:So.... Next patch is going to add Boron

Certainly not insignificant to me, I agree cap bridges are the main ingredient to make this cake, also I am hoping for free cockpit look, and more fleet commands, and grouping of fleets, similar to Previous x games.Tolmos wrote:Honestly, though... Small ships for the carriers, be great to see them docking/undocking on command.

Small ships docking to the drone bay (and of course taking up N x drone space for balance) would be a gorgeous way to solve the small ship escorts jumping with the capitals and as Nosscar says, also look completely awesome as long as they dock properly and don't just bounce about like failed drone docking does currently when in zone. Freighters sending out gigaurum to trade faster than cargo lifters would be pretty cool too, ai stuck on stations allowing

Indeed. And, in addition, I would like to see the faction fleshed out - mainly, let them start wars to each other.Nosscar wrote:Certainly not insignificant to me, I agree cap bridges are the main ingredient to make this cake, also I am hoping for free cockpit look, and more fleet commands, and grouping of fleets, similar to Previous x games.Tolmos wrote:Honestly, though... Yes definitely, more wars, better faction AI, the game needs more of this to give a purpose and more interest.Artean wrote: Indeed. And, in addition, I would like to see the faction fleshed out - mainly, let them start wars to each other.
Some story lines with the factions at war would be great, choose sides, and get missions ect.

Getting access to a capital ship bridge unfortunately does not include being able to command it or its support vessels any better. We still need a way to interact with the game a command and control method that allows you to assess the in game environment and translate your thoughts as the player into commands that the AI will act upon. Position, facing, formation, rules of engagement, target selection, you can't command that properly atm.Tolmos wrote:Honestly, though... X Rebirth is getting ever closer to where I want it to be.
